I didn't say he played poorly, it was mediocre, and he was not relied on up until the Colt game when he did not come through. The Cincy game was a good one, but when you run 80 times and throw 15 its hard for a QB to not put up good stats. He was not at all good against SD..he threw for 100 yards. Are you telling me the way he played in the AFCC is what you wish for?

If you go by passer rating, Sanchez's playoff performance against Cincinnati was the best since 1960 (as far back as pro-football-reference will go on the filter). Staubach had a higher rating but he only threw 5 passes. Personally, I'd say Sanchez played decent in the playoffs. Nothing out of this world, but not terrible either. He made some plays and helped his team to 2 upset wins. He had a great running game and defense helping him out big time though, and didn't have to throw much. His largest number of attempts in the playoffs was 30, and the Jets lost that game. He was pretty bad in the regular season, so Jets fans better hope his postseason play carries over.

I assume you mean for rookies? There have been plenty of QBs that have thrown for higher ratings.

And while I was checking that out, I searched for playoff winning QBs that had ratings greater than 130 but threw between 10 and 17 passes. The resulting list is here: Player Game Finder Query Results | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Most are from the 60s and 70s when teams were more focused on the run.

I've never understood why Namath has been considered "legendary" to be honest. It paints a picture as to why the very mediocre Mark Sanchez is considered God-like in New York. They accept and celebrate mediocrity there.

Namath's legend has less to do with him playing with the Jets, but that he is credited as the catalyst of the AFL teams becoming equals in the NFL. If he didn't make his guarantee that the Jets would win the Super Bowl and his team didn't back up his words (since Namath didn't have a great Super Bowl), he would have been a small footnote in NFL history.

Look I like Sanchez, and Payton had him as a #1 pick on his draft board. I really think you have a possibility for a big time QB. I also like Rex, he belongs in NY, and will defiantly create a very cool rivalry between the the Jets and Patriots, with his sayings.

But Sanchez needs to zone the hype out, stop interviewing with the NY press, and work on his fundamentals. As soon as the Jets lost Green in the Colts game it became a passing game and they didn't do well. That cant happen.
Sanchez needs to work overtime with his receivers and get Rex to even out the passing run mix. You cant start cold throwing in the 3rd quarter.

I mean think about it our Saints defense kicked the snot out of this kid on a high of 3-0 , and our defense sucks, and our offense lost that game.

Rex is in his 1st year and so is Sanchez, the Jets fans need to give them some breathing room for error and let them work things out. It might be 2-3 years, but your on the right track and making the right moves.

The Patriots are an established threat to the entire NFL. They still made it to the playoffs while having major injuries, thats nuts and good coaching. And from watching their acquisitions this year their team is looking pretty solid again.
You have to put Brady above Sanchez and BB above Rex at this point, based on accomplishment and experience. I think next season is going to very interesting, because it will show who is improving,consistent, or declining as a one shot wonder.

You switch out Sanchez for almost any other QB in the league and the Jets win the division and probably the Super Bowl last year. Since the Jets still have Sanchez and their running won't be as good this year, they will most certainly suck.

Win or lose the Jets team as constructed is way more interesting than any they have had since Parcells. Should be a fun season.
