Here's what's funny about that: she recently moved to Massachusetts after getting pregnant, I'm assuming to help her case against Edelman.

"Case against?" She's looking for child support, not a criminal conviction.

Even rich and famous people are people. Maybe they're actually thinking about the child's future.

Also, giving birth to the kid here (if she's here that long) will make the kid a citizen regardless of what happens between her and Edelman.

Have you read the thread? You might find that helpful, as you're responding to my post out of context. She supposedly is threatening a paternity suit, a la "case against." Others have suggested that moving to Massachusetts to give birth strengthens her legal position.

That's not really how it works. They don't give that much in child support to screw the father over. They do it to give the kid similar lifestyles with both the mother and the father. The courts want to make it equal for both so that the child will not favor one parent over the other. Most kids would end up picking the parent who has money to give them anything and everything they want, can have all the time in the world for them, and take them all over the world, and has a massive house with a game rooms and a swimming pool as opposed to the parent who is living in a 2 bedroom apartment working 9-5 to make ends meat. They don't want the child alienating the parent who cannot give as much as the other.

It's been happening for decades that at this point if guys don't want to pay they need to wrap it up.

Most mothers do get primary custody unless they are seen as unfit. At best it would be joint custody but that generally will be weekdays with one parent and weekends with another. Considering Edelmans profession the mother likely will have primary custody unless she's unfit.

That's a very dangerous precedent.. getting pregnant shouldn't be the equivalent of winning the lottery.. some of the cats out there are scheming to get that cash flow, which is really unfortunate

I'm a supporter of child support, if I had a child I wouldn't just be ok with sending a check to the mother.. i would want to be heavily involved and share custody 50/50 (assuming we couldnt make it work), and if i had to pay child support i would.. but its pretty ridiculous what some people deal with in terms of the payouts

If you're married for like 20 years and get a divorce, i understand the "alamony" thing and "accustom" lifestyle. but having someone's baby shouldn't mean you get to live the high life like you're an incredibly successful person. Both people are responsible for safe sex

Well that is just a risk they are taking when they have unprotected premarital sex. No one in this day and age is ignorant to the consequences, especially when you have millions. And I agree that it shouldn't be a meal ticket and normally its not but in the case of millionaires things work differently especially when they are having kids with relatively poor people. If both parents had similar incomes the child support amount wouldn't seem as much
