The dysfunctional mess of “coaching” Mac Jones

Jones was able to figure a lot of stuff out on his own. Like slapping guys in the nuts and sobbing hysterically like a little girl while being carried off the field? That's pure Mac. Can't teach that stuff.

Here’s the deal and a lot of us fell for it when he was drafted. He was part of an elite unit at Alabama which was a man amongst small children. His completion percentage was off the charts, he was throwing deep balls to wide open 1st rd NFL receivers who really know how to track the ball well playing against cb’s that are now in every day jobs like you and I.

The simplest thing that sets apart a great QB is progressing through your reads, arm strength, combined with accuracy and pocket awareness. He has none of these at this level. 3 years is the measuring stick and he failed. The single biggest reason why is a failure in this offense is he can’t throw a 5 yard out to the sideline. He doesn’t have the strength to get it there fast enough. Defenses figured this out and now every single game they pin their ears back and wait on it. If you can’t even fall back on your short game, you’re done in this league. Enough said. I’ve seen all I need to see and there is no excuses that are going to come out of the woodwork to change my mind on this.

The report of the 8 pounds of muscle changes nothing to me he cant win in the NFL.
He’s a mediocre talent at QB.

I don't think Mac is the guy, but I think that he should be allowed to compete with Zappe, a rook and a vet (Jacoby Brissett or Tyrod Taylor??). I choose those two QB's because they both have the ability to scramble but are able to go through progressions before they run, which is something that Maye, Daniels and Nix all need to work on (assuming they go in that QB direction).

This must have been immediately apparent to the Patriot coaches. It speaks to why there was a push to draft Zappe and a push to trade Mac Jones before he had a chance to really show what he could do.

Jones is a marginal talent who would have ultimately busted anywhere.

He was also sabotaged by Patricia's total incompetence in 2022 and the offensive talent completely rotting away by 2023.

There is no "or" here. No quarterback would have made the 2022-23 Pats offense actually good, but also Mac basically sucks just fundamentally.

I have to agree with @Triumph on this one. Never thought I would say those words.

1. Who goes off the field screming and crying like a child with an ankle sprain? Never seen that before. Patricia made Mac cry? Mental Midget.
2. Who continues to take cheap shots at other NFL players even after being fined by the NFL? Never seen that before either. Patricia told Mac to cheap shot other players? Mental Midget.
3. Who goes outside the organization to solve strategy issues? Never heard of that before. The coaches told Mac that they needed help? Can't even be a team player. Mental Midget.
4. Who sulks and disappears after being replaced? O'Brien could not have expressed more support for Mac. O'Brien always supported Mac to the maximum. After being pulled, Mac was the 3rd QB for the final game because he did not practice hard. Mental Midget.

The narrative that Mac was good in his rookie year is not true. Mac started well but when teams changed their defensive approach about Week 10, Mac cratered and crashed the last 5 to 6 games. After that Mac, even with O'Brien supporting him 100%, could never solve the defensive changes because he would panic, look down at the pass rush (evidence of a panicking mind), and throw off his back foot. Mental Midget.

Drafting a QB is a crap shoot as all of the statistics demonstrate. Mills or Mac turned out to be a toss up. Clearly fans can not complain that BB over ruled his scouts. It is being reported that BB saw Mills and Mac as roughly equal?

The question is "Why didn't the Pats get rid of Mac after his 1st year ended by cratering and his 2nd year was a disaster?

Sounds more like (dishonest) excuse making from Team Mac. There no way any coach, never mind the GOAT, would tolerate anything like that from his assistants. And he sure as hell wouldn't do that himself. Even if BB didn't like and didn't want Mac he knew if Mac busted the team would sink and so would his legacy.

The handling of Mac was really bad, but you can clearly see he’s not the guy. It would be amazing if he’s someone still on the roster when the season begins.

He shouldn’t be allowed to compete at all. He had that chance and lost. Patricia was terrible but so was O’Brien with the same QB. I’d argue O’Brien was worse. Magically they change it up with someone even somewhat competent at QB and it looks like a semblance of an NFL football team. Dump this guy first chance you get. The worst QB this team has had since 1990 something. Maybe even before then?

Bill Belichick was a brilliant coach but he coached like it was it was the 1940’s. His stubbornness reared its ugly head more and more as he got older. Physiologically Mac couldn’t deal with that. He lost his groove. Mac and Tua have a lot in common. They can succeed to a degree when coaches put a lot of high quality players around them. Tua couldn’t do jack with Flores but he’s better than AVERAGE with a supporting cast and coach. I believe Mac is the same way…however that’s not good enough to win in the post season.

Im starting to think that Mayo is going to get ****ed by this **** sooner rather than later. It's barely one week since the BB era, and this midia is literally revisioning history left and right just because.
