In honor of taking a tendency to the extreme as a way to kill time in the offseason, I thought we could look to fill a roster with trouble/questionable players we'd have interest in BB looking at/getting. It doesn't have to be criminal or drug issues. It could be high talent that's disappointed but shows occasional flashes, or other such players.

I thought I'd start it off with on who's been in the news lately.

OG - Richie Incognito

Who ya' got?

The way the witnessess have been falling...

Aaron Hernandez

WR - Kenny Britt, probably not coming back with Whisenhunt now in charge.

Nine police encounters since entering the league. Who wouldn't want such an upstanding citizen on the roster?

All-Pro alcoholic Justin Blackmon

I would take Richie Incognito. Plug him in at G, move Connolly to C, and for the first time since 2011 the Pats have an interior OL that will give Brady a shot against good defenses.

Brandon Browner next!

If he's officially cleared of racism I think Kraft just might pull the trigger.

BB values character, which i agree with him. There are guys like Moss/Talib who are have character issues but are not bad teammates and then there's incognito who has been thrown off a bunch of teams. Guys like that are not championship material

Moss was basically thrown off of his team too. Before they came to NE, Blount and Talib were both considered bad teammates and bad character guys. Bottom line: if someone plays hard, has the support of his locker room, and mostly stays out of legal trouble, then I don't see any reason not to take a shot at him. Incognito fits that description.

It's worth noting that, during the whole bullying scandal, everyone in that locker room who spoke out did so in defense of Incognito. Also, after reading the full text exchange with Martin, it's clear that he's a meathead and an idiot, but if anything it seemed like he was a pretty good friend. Looks like Martin just couldn't handle the pressure and needed someone to scapegoat.

What about the college years, St Louis Rams with Spags. This is a guy who takes stupid penalties. I don't like that undiscipline. BB always said he did his research on Moss and he was worth the risk. I don't think Ingonito is worth the risk. He's not a Patriots type player

I also looked at the Dolphins as a talented team, but on offense it seemed like character issues was a key reason for their inconsistent offense. You have Mike Wallace complaining after a win. Incognito and Martin fighting. Pouncey smoking up and we know he's not a character guy. Hartline seems like a douche and Tannehill doesn't look a leader now. That was a bad locker room. BB would never let that happen, which is why Richie will not be a Pat. BB also traded Moss when he thought he was trouble

Publicly molesting a women on a golf course with a 3 iron might cause a guy like Bob Kraft to literally pull the trigger...

I know someone accused him of that, was there any investigation or resolution?

Incognito has been flagged for two "extracurricular" (personal foul, unnecessary roughness, unsportsmanlike conduct) type of penalties in the past two seasons (24 games), and one of those should have been called on a teammate instead. That's one legitimate "dirty" penalty. If he stays like that rather than reverting to 2007-2009 form (8 such penalties in 32 games), then that's not really a big issue.

And if the Patriots sign Incognito, I don't think people should be worried. It would mean he earned a recommendation from DeGuglielmo (2010-2011 OL coach) and Daboll (2011 OC), who you know Belichick is going to talk to if he has any interest in Incognito.

That's a big If. I'm saying that BB won't take the risk

Big Ben would make for a decent back up for TFB. Just keep the wags and coaches' daughters away from the complex.

Roethlisberger isn't springing loose. Mark Sanchez, on the other hand, reportedly will be on the market.

So if Belichick does his research and concludes the same thing that I'm saying, then you'll be fine with it? Because every point that you're making against Incognito applied equally to both Moss and Blount. Moss took stupid penalties and walked off the field on his team. Blount got kicked off his college team for punching a guy in the face. That's about as undisciplined as it gets. Talib shot at a guy.

Incognito is a dirty player who's taken a lot of dumb penalties in his career, it's true. But he doesn't have any more red flags on him than Moss, Blount, and Talib did.

Yeah, it was resolved alright, for 30K. Google "Incognito golf incident" and read all about it. It wasn't a "she said/he said", if that's what you're wondering.
