The 2020 Super Bowl pregame thread

you would think so but this is Arians and Leftwich we’re talking about

i hope they prove my ass wrong
They will throw it deep to Evans on a third and short and there will either be an big completion or a INT

This KC team is not the same team that won it all last year or took the Pats to the limit the year before. Even the Pats with no QB and no practice gave them a game for 50 out of 60 minutes.

The Bucs look really good on both sides of the ball. They've been unstoppable since the winning streak started. Now they're at home for the Super Bowl.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I really think Bucs win and this game will not be as close as people think. I think my optimism annoyed people in the NFCCG thread (hi @Lagaffe_07!) so maybe I'll be more subtle about it for this one

”As close as people think”?

I’m really only hearing about how the Chiefs will roll them. Pundits aren’t even discussing the matchup or the game...they’re only talking about how Hill and Kelce will dominate and the Chiefs are assuredly going to win, either comfortably or in a blowout. I guess that’s to be expected because the Chiefs put on a highlight reel blowout against the Bills, while the Tampa game ended with them holding on for dear life as their QB aged another 10 years.

I‘m still perplexed about this game, personally. I can’t figure out if the Chiefs are a super team that sometimes plays down to competition but always wins because they’re really great and ramp it up when needed, or if they’re roughly the same overall as the Bucs, Packers, etc. and just got really lucky this year in close games...and have avoided getting badly exposed on defense because they always have a lead. Their win/loss record and reputation are much greater than their point differential and metrics (especially their bad defensive ratings.)

It seems like Vegas has it about right..somewhere in between, hence favored by 3.

You can say that you think they will win as long as you don’t say that the game is over in the game thread

I'll go with something like the Saints game score. 30-20 TB. I think two scores sounds about right.
You've called the 3 wins so far. I'll trust you and your DeLorean.

They were kind of lucky this year because defenses kept dropping Mahomes passes. It amaze me that he led the league with 16 dropped INT for comparison Brady had only 2.

While KC secondary has been great defending the long ball, I think their weakness is coverage by the linebackers. As people have been saying, hopefully the staff gets away from attacking KC’s strength (deep passes) and focuses on the short passing game. That will also help them to go on longer drives and keep Mahomes on the sideline.

He didn’t just lead the league. He set a record.

Patrick Mahomes Sets Ignominious NFL Record

The 2020 Chiefs were the luckiest team in the 2nd half of the season and one of the luckiest over the whole season since the inception of the 16-game schedule. Will that luck continue?

Same **** as the conference championship games. Tampa played an elite team and edged it out GB played a broken LA team looked amazing and the media took off with the Tampa no chance angle

well...we all know Suh is an extremely dirty, bordering on psychotic NFL player...sure would be a shame if he smashed jumpy primadonna Magomes in the head and bashed his elbow into Magomes helmet as he hits the ground in the 1st quarter.....personal foul...and Maslomes magone for the rest of the game.

Twitter needs to ban his fiancé for inciting misogyny.

anyone else think Brady is going to try and get Gronk a touchdown if they’re inside the 10?

I think the coaches will probably try to draw a play up for him if it comes to it... Don't they break Montana/Rice playoff TD record with 1 more? What better platform for an accomplishment like that than Super Bowl 55

Or maybe just throw his 300+ lb frame into Tyreek Hill's ACL

Bucs to wear whites, which I like because I hate their ugly red jerseys, especially the red jerseys and pewter pants combo.

It makes it even more bizarre though that they’re playing in home stadium, wearing visiting jerseys by choice, though their road record was better than their home record this year, and the Chiefs are 8-0 on the road but wearing their home jerseys in an away game where immunized health care workers are the fans.

I don't particularly care Mahomes is the anointed one, you'd think after two decades, pundits would learn you don't bet against chip on the shoulder, I have a point to prove Brady.

won’t Chris Jones be lined up against the backup bucs guard? he’s allowed 2 sacks in his 2 games. if that’s the case need to use the short/intermediate game with AB, Godwin, Gronk, Brate

Brady won a lot of SB wearing white
