The 2013 Prospect Thread

also kemal ishmael S UCF and cameron lawrence lb Miss St are other late round udfa guys we should definitely look at

All Texters Must Hang.

I search Armonty Bryant's name, and the first thing that came up was that he was arrested for selling marijuana at a practice.

For those who want the honey badger, we've got a supplier in Bryant. Hernandez might not be upset either.

I think it was a one off mistake. Haven't seen any other indicators of trouble. as for Honey Badger, by all accounts, he's have the supply chain pretty much locked up.

Ok I have a few "sleepers" I feel may be an impact on the patriots that I would like the higher ups on this board to judge.

Quarterbacks:
Alex Carder, Western Michigan
I know hes small but he is fast and could honestly help us when it comes to the option offense that is sweeping the nfl. In my honest opinion hes a solid UDFA addition

Runningback:
N/A: I dont feel like we are in need of one

Fullback:
N/A: If we are in serious need of a fullback than I would go for the traditional Felton from the Vikings

Offensive Tackle:
Kyle Long, Oregon
He may have character Issues but he does have the pedigree of the Long family and we have overlooked character issues when it comes to pure talent. He was good in a a very good college offense.

Tanner Hawkinson, Kansas
Mostly I like him because he has the same first name as me but supposedly he is a very athletic tackle who could be developed for Seabass's position in a few years.

Offensive Guard:
Dallas Thomas, Tennesse
Not much of a sleeper but hes a great player and even though many people think he would be a good RT I feel he would be a great RG.

Tight End:
N/A: Even though we love tight ends I feel like we have our back up for gronk in Jake Ballard. But honestly I cant see a Hernandez clone within our range. I like Jordan Reed and Joseph Fauria but not that early for a back up.

Wide Receiver:
Ok obviously these guys arent much sleepers but could very well thrive in our offense, oh and I dont believe we let go of welker so not many slot recievers here.

Justin Hunter, Tennesse
He is a guy who I feel we will be groaning about NOT picking. He has all the tools to help shift our offense in a good direction. We have an aging Receiving core and I feel like with all our bad luck on drafting wide receivers we are bound for some good karma. Hes tall, physical, good hands, and is good at stretching the defense. The only thing that scares me is his injury but that seems to be done with

Quinton Patton, Louisiana Tech
I feel like he is what deion should have been if he was more faster and stronger. He has the patriots attitude. Hes VERY shifty and an amazing route runner. He will not be the burner we are all craving but he can be the guy who can get the catch for 5 yards and turn it into a touchdown.

Da'Rick Rodgers, Tennessee Tech
If you want your Anquan Boldin seriously...and I mean seriously look no further. But with every upside there is usually concern. He obviously as you probably know has character issues. I like him as athlete but with our system that NEEDS intelligence the character problems concern me.

Cobi Hamilton, Arkansas
My personal binky who is literally flying under the radar and getting passed up by guys who have worse production against worst competition. If I had him in the third round I would scoop him up in an instant. He is your Torrey Smith. He has been injured but he is the big play guy we NEED.

Defensive End:
N/A: I feel Jones and Ninko are a great combo. Ninko gets a bad rep by some people here but he is a solid to great player. Hes good against the run and can generate sacks whats not to like and we have Bequette behind him and Francis. Jones I will guess will make a jump. He can be built around as a amazing player . I no doubt expect a DE addition but nothing serious as we have solid depth.

Defensive Tackle:
Kawann Short, Purdue
I know most people might not like him but i feel he will fall after the combine. After all the big Dlineman that performed well in last years combine and got highly over drafted. I feel like Short will time average and allow other overrated Dlineman to pass him.

Montori Hughes, Tennessee-Martin
He Is huge!.... He did also feast on lesser competition but he can be the next Wilfork yet larger and taller (which is one of the few things I do not like). Id prefer a very much shorter DT/NT but he is a beast that needs to be looked at at least. He will struggle cause of his height but I believe his strength will over come it.

Outside Linebacker:
N/A: Nope I dont expect a OLB added through the draft Hightower and Mayo are our future at OLB. Plus we signed Fletcherwho can fill in those areas in case of injury and i feel like Niko could also add depth. If we look for more look at free agency.

Middle linebacker:
N/A: All our LB's are versatile that we can mix and match except for spikes. He is strictly in the middle.

Corner:
Johnthan Banks, Miss. State
He is very well known I know. But He will not do well in the combine dropping his stock into the second round. I feel like he was what BB thought Ras-I was supposed to be. A tall rangy ball hawking corner who also knows how to LOOK FOR THE BALL. Him matched with Dennard will be a tough secondary compared to the seahawks.

Micah Hyde, Iowa
This guy is a leader and was a 4 year player. He had a minor drinking incident but nothing big but will drop his stock. Hes a tall corner who could possibly move to safety just like Ras-I. I feel like he will be great depth and may possibly be a Dennard surprise.

Tyrann Mathieu, LSU?
Honestly I feel hes a guy who the pats will pick who can develop into a great corner. At the least he will be a slot corner. At best he will be a solid corner who can cover number 1's

Safety:

J.J wilcox, Georgia Southern
Hes a hardwork driven guy. I might be mistaken but I feel like he is a binky of OTG. Honestly I like the guy but what scares me is COMPETITION. He can be a great safety but i believe its in a harsh developement role.

Jakar Hamilton, South Carolina State
MY PERSONAL BINKY. Hes a guy who transferred after dealing with the strong duo at Georgia. But I read that he was considered having much more potential than Baccari Rambo but still decided to leave to have his grandma watch him play football. Not much footage of this guy so Mayo Clinic And OTG get on it! Just for perspective his nickname at Georgia was "hitman" and yes I feel like we have a sleeper Rodney Harrison here

So thats that! I tend to come in here on occasion and if you guys like my assessment and appreciate my input Id love to continue it if you guys enjoy it. ( I called Mccourty's success and I think the Chung draft pick( sorry ))

Oh ya and you guys give me YOUR input on these guys! Ill also add a free agent prediction and a mock draft for 1-32 and for NE's 2-7 (with trades)

p.s Get that 6th overall out of your guys head for Ryan! At best Id Expect a 2014 2nd and 2013 3rd

Minor point: that's tantamount to saying "he ain't getting traded."

What do you guys think of Leon Sandcastle?

hankins at 28 and banks at 33 look good to me

and star at 7 if we get the 6th overall pick

Nicely put, by the way.

And I get the same impression.

I cannot justify the time to immerse myself in this, but it's an interesting List, and Bump Worthy, Brother TCat!!

Some interesting nuggets from NFL Network's resident former scout Daniel Jeremiah from his latest mock draft:

2013 NFL Mock Drafts : NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Geno Smith goes to Chiefs

1. He has Sharif Floyd going at #3 overall. On NFL Network, he said to not be surprised if Floyd goes even higher.

2. Says that some teams have Bjoern Werner with a second round grade.

3. Talks about Alec Ogletree being a potential top 10 pick.

4. Has Menelik Watson in the first round.

5. As an ITK, he has Jarvis Jones #2 overall. Perhaps teams aren't going to worry unduly about the Spinal Stenosis.

6. Has us taking Jonathan Hankins. Not thrilled by that but could live with it.

shariff at 3? thats pretty crazy especially since hes in front of star i hope we get another first round pick so we can get a dt and banks or trufant at CB

Adam Caplan just tweeted the following:

Lane Johnson - OT - Oklahoma- 6'7-305 lbs runs a 4.67 and 4.69 (laser)

That is insane for an OT... I didn't get to see this kid play (haven't watched the Senior Bowl Tape yet) but any comments would definitely be appreciated..

I don't know how much you know. He's a converted QB/TE. Played RT last year for Oklahoma. Switched to LT this year and did extremely well. Shone in Senior Bowl practice. He's pretty much a lock to go 10-20 and with those times, might even go higher. Terron Armstead is another to keep an eye on at the combine. Might not run 4.6, but could well run 4.7.

I read that Johnson was someone who had converted from TE, but still, running a 4.69 at 305 lbs is scary..

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lueckel, Johnson and Fisher all go top 15.. This seems to be an exceptionally strong year for OTs..

imagina how crazy it wouldve been if matthews and lewan had come out too couldve been 5 tackles all top 20

If you think Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network has good sources (and I don't think he'd have got the job if he hadn't), then you'll want to put Shariff Floyd in the top 10 of any mock you do:

The next GM or personnel director that tells me Sharrif Floyd will fall past the 10th pick will be the 1st. He's going to get picked EARLY!

https://twitter.com/MoveTheSticks/status/301110227321892864

He goes on to say that we shouldn't be surprised if he goes ahead of Lotulelei. Sounds like Floyd's making some money.
