I haven't watched Williams, but I'd be pretty upset if they took a non-elite WR in the first round. Richardson at 335 is quite a bit heavier than our any of our guards since I can remember.

And he's from Oregon so he has ample experience in the full speed no huddle

Baylor play something similar don't they? According to Nfldraftscout he's quite nimble for a 335lber, has the OT experience the Pats like for their guards, has experience in a power run game (remember Terrance Ganaway) and he experienced the pressure of protecting the blindside of an elite QB. I haven't really seen him play so can't comment on his abilities, but those sound like the type of experiences I'd want from a prospect lineman for the Pats.

They're clearly looking at someone at Baylor, three times in half a season is more than coincidence I'd think. Have to say, I wouldn,'t be thrilled at Williams in he first either. They did have a look at Clemson too, I'd take DeAndre Hopkins in the first however.

Just read that Ezekiel Ansah has a 39" vert. If true, that would have made him the top DL last year, better than JJ Watt and 8th best DL in the last seven years. Fancy some of those batted balls that JJ Watt's been excelling at @ Houston?

For better perspective, the best vert in the last seven years at the combine was 45", probably not done by a 6'6" guy with very long arms.

9/8/12: Like Thomas at Tennessee, Richardson moved to left guard this season and that, too ,could be the best fit for him at the next level. He played very well in the opening game against SMU.

8/23/12: Richardson did an overall good job of blocking for quarterback Robert Griffin III in 2011. He also did well opening up holes in the ground game for Terrance Ganaway. Richardson started out at guard in 2010 before moving to tackle as a sophomore. He needs to get more consistent.

There were games last season in which Richardson allowed too much pressure, but he has the potential to develop into a quality prospect. If Richardson is unable to improve his pass protection, he could move back inside for the NFL.

You are beginning to get me hooked on Ansah. Great length and size. Plays OLB for BYU, so his movement skills have to be fairly good. If that vertical is real, then he obviously has explosiveness, plus nice length and pass blocking ability. BYU kids are generally high character. I haven't watched him, but I'm certainly intrigued.

Every year there are a few players that are totally off the map who are able to find playing time as seniors and grab the attention of NFL scouts. BYU hybrid linebacker Ezekiel Ansah fits that description as a virtual unknown a few months ago, but is now shooting up draft boards as we find out more about the disruptive defender. Originally a track athlete at BYU, he decided to try football so he went to the Cougars' coaching staff in 2010 and worked his way onto the team. Ansah, who was born and raised in Ghana, entered the 2012 season with just 10 career tackles on his resume, but earned a starting job as a senior and hasn't disappointed. Against Utah State last Friday, he set career-bests with 3.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks, pushing his season totals to 27 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and three pass break-ups. Listed at 6-6 and 270 pounds, Ansah is a freakish athlete with an outstanding blend of length, speed and natural power. He plays all over the front-seven for BYU, lining up with his hand in the dirt at defensive end or standing up at linebacker and dropping into coverage. Ansah has a flexible, fluid body type and is an effortless mover, exploding in any direction and chasing down the ballcarrier. He is obviously very raw having so little experience playing the sport, but already he has showed improved recognition skills and hand use. Ansah is just scratching the surface on what he can do and, like Jason Pierre Paul a few years back, NFL scouts are wondering just how high his ceiling can be. Don't be surprised if Ansah continues to produce, tests off the charts in pre-draft work outs and ends up as a top-50 draft pick.

Charlie Campbell's latest mock at Walter Football has the following:

Round One - Robert Woods, WR, USC

The Patriots should get some youth at wide receiver. Brandon Lloyd has been unimpressive thus far, and Wes Welker doesn't appear to be in New England's long-term plans.

Woods (6-1, 180) was a dominant force as a sophomore, becoming Matt Barkley's primary weapon. Woods totaled 1,292 yards on 111 receptions with 15 touchdowns in 2011. He had a record-setting game to open last year with 17 receptions for 177 yards and three touchdowns against Minnesota. Woods then broke his own record, against Arizona, with 14 receptions for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

When Barkley decided to return for his senior season, Woods had to be ecstatic. He has 31 receptions for 272 yards and five touchdowns this season. Woods also ran the ball once for 76 yards and returned a punt 31 yards.

The junior doesn't look as explosive as he was in 2011 and seems to be short of his top-end speed due to an injured ankle. A good year will keep Woods' draft stock strong - as long as he can stay healthy.

Round Two - Larry Warford, OL, Kentucky

New England could use some youth on the inside of its offensive line.

Warford was named a Second-Team All-SEC performer in 2011 for the second straight season. He did a very good job of opening up holes for running back Derrick Locke in 2010.

Warford is also a good pass-blocker. He is strong at the point of attack and can push defensive linemen around. The senior has underrated speed and quickness for his size.

Round Three - Mario Benavides, OC, Louisville

The Patriots continue to build up their protection for Tom Brady.

Benavides gave his stock a boost by shutting down North Carolina defensive tackle Slyvester Williams. Benavides was a force at the point of attack as the Cardinals gashed North Carolina up the middle. He is listed at 6-foot-4, 280-pounds, but played heavier the previous two seasons, circa 300 pounds.

Benavides will probably need to go back up for the NFL. He has good mobility and could fit well in a zone-blocking system.

I haven't been a fan of Robert Woods as a high first rounder, but as a pick for us in the first round? I'd take him in a heartbeat, a perfect fit for the Patriots. I was watching USC against Utah and in the space of about 10 yards, Woods quadruple moved the DB and my first though was - "I bet he's going to have a good 3-cone score, hmmmm....."

Wonder how much a Robert Woods would do for a 1 rounder vs a Kyle Prater or Quinton Patton or even Marcus Davis for a 4 round pick or mayby lower?

We all see Scar as the best OL coach and he turn undrafted ppl into gold, mayby we should use that strength for once and "ignore" OL and use picks on defence once more ?

What would ppl say, if BB ignored OL again, or took Kyle Long and then ignore it?

I love: Fuller, Warmack, Cooper, KNOTT (btw, Klein is good too), Elam, Reed, Randle, Van Noy

I like: Ogletree, Carradine, Patton, Thomas, Pryor, Hopkins, Milliner, Joyner

I'm neutral towards everyone else, except Coleman (I haven't paid attention to him. He's a redshirt sophomore. 10% chance he enters the draft), as well as Ansah (haven't seen him yet but look forward to doing so), Bailey (I'd be surprised if he entered the draft), and McFadden, whom I've seen a little, but not enough to have a strong opinion one way or the other.

WOW!!!!! If only a freaky vertical was more useful for a defensive end; still, that's amazing.
