The 2013 Prospect Thread

What do you guys know about Phillip Thomas the safety from Fresno?

I have plenty of seniors that I like, for all 3 days of the draft, from potential top 10 picks to UDFAs. Guys like DT Star Lotulelei, DT Jesse Williams, DT John Jenkins, DT Kawann Short, DE Tank Carradine, DE Margus Hunt, DE Devin Taylor, DE Dion Jordan, WR Tavon Austin, OL Barrett Jones, OG Johnathan Cooper, PT Brandon Williams, OT Kyle Long, OT Luke Marquardt, TE Michael Williams, just to name a few. Lots more.
2013 NFL Draft - Preliminary Senior Binkies

2nd-3rd Round Prospects

Jesse Williams
Cornellius Carradine
Kenny Vaccaro
Robert Lester
Shawn Williams
Brennan Williams
Jonathan Cooper
Larry Warford

At first glance, the 2013 NFL Draft looks favorable to trade down from the first round and pick up a second round draft selection and a third round draft selection.

Binky buddies! High five!

Turns out Ziggy Ansah is 23 (since May.) I figured he was like 25 like the rest of BYU. He's on my radar now.

More to the point, Alabama safety binky buddies. Aah, happy memories of last year.

Double dip on Lamarcus Joyner and an early coming out Sunseri next year and we'd have the hardest hitting safety group in the NFL. Every defensive play would be a fumble!!

Don't remember if I saw him somewhere in this thread earlier but someone that should be in contention for that late round OT spot is this guy.

Luke Marquardt, OT, Azusa Pacific

Someone else's eval.

Height: 6'10
Weight: 320
School: Azusa Pacific
Position: OT

I will start this off with Luke Marquardt. A guy most of you have probably never heard of. Marquardt is massive. Listed at 6'10 320 but Josh Buchanan says he is closer to 6'8. Competition is certainly a concern as Azusa Pacific is a NAIA school. His intangibles are hard to ignore and if he proves he can dominate at a low level there is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be given a shot. He is a former basketball player so you know he has a quick feet. Long arms as well. Look for him in the future.

The Azusa Pacific OL coach is Jackie Slater, NFL HoFer and father of Patriot Matt Slater. He's also a former TE converted to OT and has quick feet. I'd be comfrotable taking a 7th round flyer or as a UDFA.

That's three Baylor games fwiw

Official Website of NFL Draft Pro Chris Steuber

In light of possible Baylor interest, Terrance Williams the WR seems like the obvious interest but perhaps it's Cyril Richardson:

Cyril Richardson, OG*- Richardson is a large man, listed at 6’5”, 335 pounds. He played 12 games and started 4 of them at left guard as a freshman before moving outside to left tackle as a sophomore to protect RGIII’s blind side. Now he is shifting back inside to guard where he is probably a better fit due to his natural size and power, but lack of ideal lateral agility to stay at tackle. He could be a solid tackle in my opinion, perhaps more if he was played at right tackle, but I think his highest upside is inside at guard due to his size and arm length. He isn’t overly explosive out of his stance, but he has shown the ability to pancake defenders in the run game and generate some push. I’ve seen him make a few mistakes mentally in pass protection, particularly on stunts or strange blitz packages, so that will be something to keep an eye on this season at guard.

Cyril Richardson « Tom Melton's NFL Draft Blog

For me:

Seniors:

Chance Warmack
John Cooper
Dallas Thomas
Ziggy Ansah
Cornelius Carradine
Quinton Patton
Leon McFadden
Lonnie Pryor
Jake Knott

Juniors:

LaMarcus Joyner
Dee Milliner
Jordan Reed
Trey Burton
DeAndre Hopkins
Alec Ogletree
Matt Elam
Joseph Randle
Kyle Fuller
Kyle Van Noy
Stedman Bailey
Brandon Coleman

Not exhaustive lists, but these are the prospects that evoke more than a rational. logical response in terms of need and fit. These are prospects "I want". As you can see, next year will be a really enjoyable year for me potentially.
I'm either neutral towards or in love with everyone on that list.

I need to tell you, if you are that tall and play offensive line, it's a disadvantage. More often than not, the low man wins in football. He's so tall that I highly doubt he can get good leverage against any defensive linemen, unless his flexibility is absolutely off the charts. If his flexibility is superb (Nate Solder fits), then his height and length are an advantage. But he probably would need to be able to touch his toes to have any kind of NFL success.

If you want to see an example of how height can hurt you as a blocker, watch Levine Toilolo. The guy is a great on pass plays, but can't get any leverage against the run.

Great point, that's partially why I like Kyle Long as a late round binkie at Tackle.

I haven't watched Williams, but I'd be pretty upset if they took a non-elite WR in the first round. Richardson at 335 is quite a bit heavier than our any of our guards since I can remember.

What range would you expect Toilolo to go if he declared?

Do you know of any videos Rontez Miles? I couldn't find any.

if we could get taylor lewan and larry warford, i would be a very happy man. i really like those 2 guys right now. that could change. idk much about that tackle from oregon

check that... idk anything about him
