The 2013 Prospect Thread

Nice find on Nick Kasa. The idea of the Pats drafting a Colorada TE seems somehow appropriate.

Kasa is ranked #465 currently by NFL Draft Scout. Travis Kelce is ranked #349. Both guys are big, strong and athletic. Couple of great options to take a late round flier on. I had the Pats taking Kelce with our 2nd 7th round pick in my latest mock, but Kasa would substitute just fine.

To me, Kasa is the ideal Belichickian prospect. He's a TE for starters, he's athletic with, at the very least, the upside for positional versatility (I'm not suggesting he'd be used that way, just that it reflects a degree of intelligence and athletic flexibility), he's very under the radar (999th prospect on NFLDraftScout), he's a hard worker and liked by his coaches.

You think the Aquib Talib trade was to acquire a no 1 CB to help our beleagured pass defense and the 7th rounder was a make weight in the deal. I think BB needed another 7th rounder to draft Kasa and Talib was in fact the makeweight

Kasa is up to #465 on NFL DraftScout's latest rankings. Thats a climp of over 500 spots, so he's a "fast riser".

Love those late round freakishly athletic TE prospects. Yum. Kelce or Kasa. Kasa or Kelce. Or, in the words of OTG, WHY NOT BOTH?

YES, it is AMAZING to be a Patriots fan!!

You DO realize that you can join Patriots Nation whenever you like and that we will welcome you with open arms!
To be honest, I'm not a huge Patriots fan.

First of all, although I'm from Cincinnati, my mom is from Green Bay and I was raised a Packers fan. I've been able to rid myself of all college football bias, but I can't help but still maintain an allegiance to my Packers.
By joining Patriots nation, do you mean the website?

I will be scouting Kelce in person today. I have third row seats on the 50 yard line. Will bring binoculars, and a clipboard so I can take notes on everyone I see. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Along with Kelce, I'll be scouting Kenbrell Thompkins, Walter Stewart, Drew Frey, Ryan Nassib, Justin Pugh, and Shamarko Thomas. I'll let you know how it goes.

This isn't the first game of theirs I have seen this year though. If you want my opinion on some of the other UC players, here it is: Stewart is a bit underrated. There is no way he is less than 6'5 and he has a nice build. He is a very good athlete with loose hips. However, he has a lot of work to do on his hand usage and he needs strength. He's a poor man's Dion Jordan but he would actually be really good value in the 5th or 6th round.

Thompkins and Frey are pretty insignificant.

Just because you're a Packers fan doesn't mean you can't also root for the Pats

The Packers have actually been my #2 team ever since Rodgers took over, I remember the game against Dallas when Rodgers almost got them out of the hole that Favre dug them into, I completely called it that Rodgers would become and excellent QB. I also salute the GB front office for knowing it was time to part company with Favre, they and Rodgers handled it with class while Favre displayed his true character.

That said, good luck with your scouting today!

I guess the Pats can be my number 2

Not going to the game... StubHub sent me tickets for the South Florida game

That's garbage. Hey do you know of any McCoil videos from 2012? A full Tulsa game would be even better though. The one 12 pm game I wanted to watch is Tulsa-Arkansas and I can't find it.

Sheldon Richardson just blocked a FG. His arms look long. Might be between 34 and 34.5

Nope. I just TiVo games

Yeah, that's what I do too. DVR actually, but I only have a standard TV package with like 250 HD channels. So if the game I really want isn't on then there's nothing I can do about. So I still have to watch plenty of youtubes.

First play I get to see of Kasa he gets crushed, fumbles, and has to get helped off the field.

Great find Manx

Sheldon is good as is elam.

I think Elam is the best safety in the draft. Don't know if he'll be the first taken but he's my no 1.

I absolutely love Alec Ogletree of Georgia. Absolutely amazing in space - always around the ball and if he comes out, must be in with a good shout at being the fastest lb at the combine.

Don't care if he's not a desperate need, I'd love it if we pick him.

Agreed. He's awesome

OC Ryan Turnley, Pitt

Remember this name. He just made it very high on my binky list. In the Pitt/Notre Dame games he's been getting to the second level and eating Manti Te'o's lunch...again and again and again. He's listed a little taller than I like my Centers (listed at 6'6") but those listings are usually off reality by at least an inch.

At any rate, his size (listed at 6'6", 320#) certainly isn't hurting his mobility, his leverage or his qb's ability to see and pass over him.

Also the LSU/Alabama game has two of the best Free Safeties in the country: Robert Lester (Alabama) & Eric Reid (LSU).

And two outstanding OCs: Barrett Jones (Alabama) & PJ Lonergan (LSU).
