The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

This strategy seem to play into Sanchez's weaknesses.

Not really. It plays to his strength. It will allow Sanchez to make the read and pick which defensive back on the opposing team he throws the ball to.

“It gives [Sanchez] options now,” Holmes said. “He doesn’t have to stare down one receiver to get him the ball. He can throw the ball wherever he wants to, based on the coverage.”

I'm not an expert like a few of you guys but what strikes me about this is the amount of practice required to get all of these Jets' offensive looks locked down. First, they've got to allocate some significant portion of practice to the Tebow version of the offense. Now, they have to allocate another, even larger, portion of practice to getting everyone on the same page with the new read-and-adjust passing game. Think how long and hard the Pats have worked on that over the years. And then, of course, there's the running game...

If they manage to do all this well, and actually generate a good offense, it will be quite a coaching job.

No real worry about this, because, well, the Jets suck.

I don't know why the Rats think their defense is all that. It could be a very solid unit, but even with having maybe the best defensive player in the NFL in Revis, I wouldn't trade the Pats defensive unit for the Rats defensive unit.

I think the Pats defensive talent is better overall, and if they can stay healthy and the newcomers can perform to just the "solid starter" level, the upside for the Pats defense is higher than the Rats defense.

Maybe I'm dipping into the kool-aid a bit, but that's how I see it.

Hernandez and Gronk....imagine how bad they are going to destroy them this year with landry and bell at saftey? Good god it's going to be a slaughter. it's always a slaugher vs the jets D with our TEs..they still have no way to stop them

Interesting poll on that thread. Right now, with 32 voters, 10-6 is the clear leader, with 10 votes. What's interesting to me, though, is that the Jets are coming off of an 8 win season and, yet, the poll has more people picking them to go with 11 wins or more (13) than to have 8-9 wins (9) and nobody has picked them with 7 wins or fewer.

Im having a hard time seeing where you find 3 wins.
Every team on that schedule except Indy and maybe Miami is better than them, and 4 are way better. They would have to beat the Bills, a better team than them, and win in Miami to be 3-4.

Take away Revis and the Jets are a 3-13 team.
They have one other player on defense that is clearly above average for his position, David Harris.
The DL is among the worst in the NFL. The rest of the LBs are awful.
Cromartie may be the other guy who could be in the slightly above average group, but thats a stretch. The safeties are poor.
Revis makes every one of them better, and dictates what offenses can do, so he covers some of that, but this was the 20th ranked scoring defense in the NFL WITH Revis. Take him away, and they couldn't stop anyone.

The Jet's could actually go 0-5 for those first five games. Not an easy schedule for them at all.

While I do think that the Jets defense lived on reputation last season, I also think you're being a bit unfair to that team's D-line.

Beating alll 3 of those teams is a long shot for a mediocre at best Jets team.

2-5 with only 3 home games left, including one against us, and they are playing for a high pick to get a QB.

jets get lucky...and often..2 of their wins last years were complete jokes..so i see then with a few lucky ones this year even vs a better team

Perhaps, but that assumes the young players develop.
Wilkerson was nothing special as a rookie (but could become that)
Devito, Pouha, Ellis are JAGs. Especially with the talk that Pouha is moving off the nose.
Couples hasn't played a down in the NFL.

Maybe my characterization is on the negative side, but even the upside is pretty average.

Every team wins games that could go either way. When you don't like the team they are 'lucky' when you do they are 'mentally tough'.
Those things even out also. I wouldn't agree to an approach that says give the Jets 2 more wins a year than they deserve because they were born lucky.

ESPN analyst and former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski is counting down his top 30 quarterbacks in the NFL. On Monday, he revealed Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez as No. 23 on his list.

Sanchez comes in several spots higher than backup Tim Tebow (No. 30) and ahead of fellow AFC East quarterbacks Matt Moore (26) of the Dolphins and Ryan Fitzpatrick (24) of the Bills. That leaves just Tom Brady of the Patriots ahead of him in the rankings, which Jaworski is revealing each day on "SportsCenter."

Jets' Sanchez ranks 23rd on ESPN analyst's QB list

I probably wouldn't put Sanchez ahead of Fitzpatrick (although having them back-to-back seems fair given their careers to date, regardless of which you put in front of the other), but I do find it nice to see that Jaws has Sanchez as a bottom 10 QB, as I've been saying for years. I like it first because it's accurate, and second because it'll piss off Jets fans.

You have to examine your priorities, Deus.

Stupid Bill Polian just called Jet's OC....Tony Saprano :ugh:

The Jets fans are pretty high on Aaron Maybin for some reason, but Revis deserves credit for all his sacks. If Maybin has 8 seconds to get to the QB, he is going to get a strip sack. If not, he is easily taken out of the play. You watch virtually every one of his sacks last year and the tackle easily took him out of the play, but the QB held onto the ball for so long that he could run from out of nowhere and make the sack. Most of the time the QB is trying to make a play to the guy Revis was covering. That just shows how much Revis means to that defense.
