His heart and soul never bled Patriots blood so he doesnt deserve to be in our HOF. Its really that simple.

After reading an old thread on the Parcells debate, I agree with this.

I didn't know anything about the pre-Brady era before reading Darkness to Dynasty and Tales from the Patriots Sidelines.

Failing to induct Julius Adams, also decades after he should have been and after his death, while maybe equally but not more deserving players like Tedy Bruschi are inducted in their first year of eligibility is a total disgrace [also Kraft's fault. He's the f*cking owner. He inducted Billy Sullivan. He could induct Christian Peter if he wanted].

Kraft bought Schaefer in 1988, the Patriots organization in 1994, and was a fan and season ticket holder for idk how long. I can understand if he has a bias for players who won his team a Super Bowl.

But I agree that the newer guys have plenty of time to get in later. If there are pre-Brady players and coaches who deserve to be in the Pats HOF, that's who I'd rather vote for.

I wonder who the 2021 nominees will be.

Mike Vrabel has been a finalist for five straight years, losing in 2016 to Kevin Faulk, followed annually in the voting to Kevin Faulk, Raymond Clayborn, Matt Light, Rodney Harrison and Richard Seymour.

No complaints with those five choices, but the next enshrinee is obvious.

Vrabel.

If Parcells gets in over Vrabes there will be an avalanche of angry Patriot fans, and for very good reason.

As for who the bridesmaids will be? I'll guess Welker and either Julius or Tuna. The sports writers who make the nominations still have fond memories of Parcells for all his quotes and pandering to them, but I don't know if they have figured out yet that the vast majority of Pats fans do not (and will never) share the same view.

Wouldn't a lot of knowledgeable fans rather see Julius Adams first? Vrabel's a rival.

What is the procedure when dealing with old time players? Exclusive to a senior committee? Or are they just lumped in with all the players?

I wouldn't mind 85 getting in in 2021 over vrabes, rival or not, he was a very important piece of the dynasty defense... And he took all those tds away from fauria so that has to count for something lol

Vrabel is still fresh in the minds of all Patriot fans. Nobody under the age of 50 remembers watching Adams. Because of that difference I can't imagine Adams receiving more votes than Vrabel in a fan voting process.

All former Patriots are eligible for the annual Pats HoF nominations (a committee of primarily Pats beat writers), regardless of whether or not they are also eligible as a senior. The ten most senior members of that selection committee also serve on the Senior Committee. They have been placing one old timer to the Pats HoF every four years since 2011.

Something I did not realize until just now is that to qualify as a senior they not only must be retired for 25 years - but they also need to have been a previous finalist but not selected as winner by the fan voting. That means Jim Colclough, who was mentioned previously in this thread, cannot get in as a senior until he first makes it as a finalist to the regular vote - nor can Julius Adams! The only seniors I see currently eligible are Ron Burton, Fred Marion and Chuck Fairbanks.

Leon Gray was the most recent senior enshrinee, in 2019 - meaning 2023 should be the next year for a senior to gain entrance. If Julius Adams is to be named via the senior committee in 2023, then he needs to be a finalist for the regular vote in either 2021 or 2022.

I didn't know any of that either...That is a travesty that should be corrected yesterday.

In the Starting Line-Up
Parcells' contributions are largely symbolic today, thanks to the past 20 years of success. Parcells would have made it a decade ago in an alternative universe in which this team does not reach its dynastic heights.

At this point, Parcells will have to wait for Welker, Seymore, Vrabel, Mankins, Wilfork, Brady, perhaps Mayo. I don't see it happening.

When does the voting commence anyway?
Some time in April. This year it was April 13, in 2019 it was April 19.

The time frame for when the fan voting ends has been a bit inconsistent. The Pats announced Seymour the winner on May 11, while in 2008 the voting did not end until July 4.

The big thing is of course to get the word out to the committee members that they need to make Julius one of their three nominees in 2021.

Yes, we just need the one.

Given one chance we will vote the Jewel in.

Hall of Could Have Been ?

0-2 in playoffs... call the bust maker

Maybe Chuck could lend to the Hall the college coaching contract he signed secretly during the middle of his last Pats season
While Kraft ruffled Tuna's considerable feathers, Sullivan sabotaged Fairbanks repeatedly. Dreith and Tatum are unparalleled travesties that would murder any team's chances.

If you look at the team's overall performance Chuck is far and away the second best coach we ever had.

I would say he is the best GM we ever had; Belichick makes it close because he drafted Brady and then kept him on the roster.

It's briefly mentioned in Patriot Reign. Quote from Belichick:

"He was trying to make up his mind about what he wanted to do. Which, honestly, I felt totally inappropriate. How many chances do you get to play for the Super Bowl? Tell them to get back to you in a couple of days. I'm not saying it was disrepectful to me, but it was in terms of the overall commitment to the team."

I still think Fairbanks and possibly Pat Sullivan deserve to get in. (whom Fairbanks recommended for GM as he was leaving). Definitely not Chuck lol
Chuck actually qualifies to make the Pats' all time villains listo_O

Kinda can't say I felt too bad for him when he wound up sleeping in the stadium offices after the Victory Tour debacle.

I completely forgot that Vince will be eligible for the first time in 2021.

Seymour made it for whenever the 2020 enshrinement will happen. I find it hard to imagine VW and Vrabes not being finalists for the 2021 vote.

That leaves one spot open for another finalist - Julius Adams would be the best choice as the third and final nominee. As mentioned previously, he needs to make it to the finals in order to be eligible for the next Senior Committee verdict. This would be a great opportunity to make the appropriate step to give #85 an opportunity to gain entrance to the Pats HoF.
