There's 11 former Patriots in consideration for the Pats Hall Of Fame. They are in no specific order: Logan Mankins, Mike Vrabel, Wes Welker, Lawyer Milloy, Bill Parcells, Mosi Tatupu, Russ Francis, John Smith, Julius Adams, Pete Brock and Chuck Fairbanks,

NFL Notes: Welker leads list of nominees for Patriots Hall

My rank:

1. Julius Adams
2. Mosi Tatupu
3. Mike Vrabel
4. Russ Francis

......

8. Pete Brock
9. Lawyer Milloy
10. Logan Mankins
11. Wes Welker
12. John Smith

......

I don't think Fairbanks or Parcells should ever be invited into the Patriots HOF. No way.

Is Raymond Berry in there? He should be chosen 1,000 years before Fairbanks or Parcells.

Hmmmmm.

I think if Welker makes it to the final fan vote, he's getting in. I'd love Julius Adams to get his due, but we are going to start to see a log jam for guys here as long as they are getting in one at a time. Recency bias is hurting Julius.

Looking ahead, if my 5+ math is right and guys stay retired:

Adam Vinatieri 2024
Julian Edelman 2025
Gronk in 2026
Brady, in theory, 2027
DMac or Hightower 2028
The other of the above 2029

I don't think they'll wait for Brady, but that's a hunch, which would move up Dmac to be eligible in 2027. If Bill retires this year, he'd go in 2028. Does that bump everyone a year, or does he go in like Scar? My point is that it's going to be super difficult to get in for the next few years after this year.

Wes Welker is at the top of this list (among players).

This forum hates Parcells. He provided a massive jolt to the Patriots franchise. Rod Rust ---> **** MacPherson ---> Bill Parcells... has there ever been a more drastic upgrade at the HC position?

Only Joe Gibbs accomplished more with less at the quarterback position. Parcells never had anyone close to a HOF QB and he got 4 different franchises into the postseason, with 3 SB appearances, and 2 SB championships. All time great HC/GM. Like it or not he's a significant figure in Patriots franchise history. And he belongs in the Patriots HOF.

Bill Parcells is, no doubt, one of the greatest NFL coaches of all time... Guy knew how to build a team, evaluate players, etc etc... However, arguing for Parcells to enter the NE HoF is like pissing into the wind... sure, you can do it, but its not recommended, lol...

I can't go there with Tuna. Not for just bailing on the team in Super Bowl week but also for lobbing grenades at the Patriots once he became a Jet to try and blow up what this franchise built since the Rod Rust years. Curtis Martin poison pill contract, taking all the Patriots coaches with him, trying to screw us out of our compensation etc. Martin was a home grown star and should have spent his career in NE.

NFL HOFer and all time great coach and builder of course but hard pass on Tuna being a Patriots HOFer.

Parcells kraft bledsoe saved the pats franchise belichick and brady took it to a higher level... Parcells should be considered , but he wont julius adams was a great patriot but got lost during the dark years... the nominees will be

welker
vrabel
mankins

with welker winning the fan vote... vrabel should win , but they he wont because fans love offense and points and vote for that though welker belongs but russ francis should be nominated at least in the senior section ....

Anyone other than Vrabel going in before Julius Adams is a joke.

Julius Adams not being in the HOF a long time ago is a ****ing disgrace.

Just put Adams and Tatupu in there this year. Do Vrabel next year.

Parcells? Never.
Welker? Eh, maybe some day when the real choices dry up.
Mankins? Same as Welker.

The 11 nominees should break down as:
1) Julius Adams
2-11) 10 Guys who can damn well wait

I was as big of a Parcells guy as there was back in the day when he got here. As CH alludes to, the upgrade from Rust and MacPherson to Parcells cannot be overlooked here in New England. As much as APF wants to spin the early history of this team, they were not one of the big boys in the NFL until Parcells arrived.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...

Not putting all his effort into coaching the players for the Super Bowl so he could either screw RKK or better plan his escape to the Jete is inexcusable. Add to that the poison pill BS he pulled with Curtis Martin and then how he tried to continue to eff Kraft with the I am not the HC of the NYJs, Bill Belichick is make him ineligible in my book. I am forever grateful that he turned it around here in Foxboro and gave the Pats legitimacy, but for me...
its a no from me dawg GIF

I agree here. At this point I think they should have 2 inductees a year — one from the recent players and one for the “veterans.”. I reasonable split can be those who played their last game as a Patriot prior to Kraft buying the team, versus everyone else. Once we reach a point where the veterans group is appropriately honored (I.e. anyone else going in would be extremely debatable), they can combine everyone together again and go back to 1 a year.

Welker? Eh, maybe some day when the real choices dry up.
Wes is probably Brady's all time favorite wide receiver. Brady --> Welker led the NFL in pass completions 3 of 5 seasons and they were 2nd once. Just look at the seasons Brady had 2010 to 2012 with Wes as his main target... phenomenal production. Brady was pretty incredible 2015 to 2017 but he had no one like Wes, including not Edelman who missed half of 2015 and all of 2017.

Wes gets a bad rep for the drop in SB 46 (which admittedly was really bad) but he was an outstanding WR for the Patriots.

Patriot WR with a 100 or more receptions in a single season... Welker (5), Edelman (2), and Brown (1).
Most receptions in a single season for a Patriots WR... Welker comes in top 1 through 5.
Most career receptions per game for a Patriots WR... 1. Welker 7.2 (no other receiver is above 5).
Most yards in a single season for a Patriots WR... 1. Welker 1569 (2011)... Welker also is in the 4th, 5th, 8th, and 9th spots.
Most yards per game in a single season for a Patriots WR... 1. Welker 98.1 (2011) and 2. Welker 96.3 (2009).
Most career yards per game for a Patriots WR... 1. Welker 80.2.

How can anyone justify keeping Welker out of the Patriots HOF? I say build a large moat around the hall until Welker is let in.

Julius Adams is one of those defensive players that you're going to get all stat-y like you like to do and tell us why he should not be in, so let's not go there, because I agree that Wes should be in. Wes suffers because he didn't win a championship. If they are going to put Julius Adams in, he needs to go in this year, other wise the log jam that I outlined in an earlier post is going to keep him out until the veteran committee puts him in.

From 2007 to 2012, Wes is as important of any other Patriot not named Brady. Is it good enough? In my book, yes. I can see that guys will say it was only 5 years, he didn't win the ring, and the drop to which you already brought up. For my money, Julius deserves it more, but I am not going to go to war over it. Next year, we start upping the entrance exams a little bit, and you are talking about guys that have resumes that are Canton worthy. Maybe not Jules, but Vinatieri, Gronk and Brady can plan on getting measured for gold jackets.

I didn't say I would keep him out of the HOF. I said "maybe, some day when the real choices dry up."

Welker was great during his seasons here. However, Julius Adams and Mosi Tatupu were the embodiment of the Patriots. Both should have been in the HOF long ago. And both should be in before Welker and Mankins even sniff the HOF. All 4 are ring-less. So, I am going with which of the 4 is the most Patriot. Welker and Mankins may have been better at their respective positions, though Julius Adams was an excellent DT, so I am not sure if they were even better.

If I was the supreme ruler that I should be, Julius Adams would go in this year. Included with his induction would be an apology from the ****tards who decided these things. Tatupu would go in the following year.

Year 3 would be Vrabel. To compare Welker and Mankins to Vrabel is laughable. That Ty Law pick 6 in the 1st SB? That was all Vrabel. He was a major contributor to 3 SB wins. End of discussion.

Years 4 and 5 are for Edelman and Brady. Year 6? James mutha****in White. Year 7? How about Vinatieri?

After that? I have never been a McCourty fan, but I would put him in before Welker. Hell, I'd put in Antowain Smith in before Welker.

So....9 or 10 years from now, if this **** dries up, I am all for Welker. This is not holding a SB drop against him. All the players listed above deserve the Patriots HOF before him.

Although, I do hold one thing against Welker. Remember when Manning broke some meaningless regular season record, and they played an obviously pre-planned, orchestrated game of keep away with the record setting ball? All of this so Manning could do his phony "As shucks" routine? Welker was part of that. It was the gayest thing I have seen on a TV since I accidentally hit play on my uncle's gay porn VCR tape back when I was a kid.

I hold that against Wesley.
