2018 and 2019 draft tbd except Dawson but the 2017 draft was garbage which is hurting us right now.

The jury is still out on joejuan williams. I mentioned a numbers game with him. He has talented guys ahead in a deep secondary. Picked ahead of some guys including greedy.

who says it isn't? we will see what he is made of next year

Would love Sanders - have wanted him with Brady since the Pats didn't offer enough on his RFA deal. Don't know how they afford it, though.

Don't know that receiver is the biggest issue, either.

If they need a body to fill in while JE and Gordon get healthy, Mo Harris has been cleared to play.

They need a tight end. I mentioned Austin Hooper. The guy’s in the last year of his contract. He would be nice. His cap number is 2 million something.

I heard that a veteran named Watson might be available soon. Don't know much about him, except he apparently beat Champ Bailey in a hundred-yard dash.

Correct me if I am wrong but Diggs cap hit is 12.5m. Would love to have him. But the numbers just don’t work.

Sure.. The Patriots would only be responsible for the remaining Salary for this season. The 12.5M includes dead cap money that the Vikings would still have.

Diggs salaary is 8.9M.. His weekly paycheck is 523.5K. With 13 weeks remaining, the Patriots would be responsible for 6.81M..

Patriots cant afford another busted draft. Need Harry and Joquan to stick around as good starters or we will be in cap trouble for a while

So, if Harry or Williams don’t pan out it means the team will have to mortgage the future by going into salary cap hell? For a while, to boot?

Those rookies are obviously important to the success of the future, but I’m not sure that I’d go nearly as far as what you’re suggesting. This organization has layers of protection against draft busts, most notably Belichick and Brady.

2006 was a long time ago.
2017 was fairly recent though, so unless we wipe that out due to the selection of Detrich Wise, we should include it.

2007 wasn’t so hot, either. Off the top of my head I want to say that 2009 was mediocre too, aside from Edelman, making it 3/4 years (2006, 2007, 2009). As we know, in 2010 they went 14-2. It’s going to take a lot more than a crappy draft or two to put this team in cap hell.

Last game vs Bills was our offense nightmare for sure. However I am far away from blaming Brady or our WR corp for the clumsy performance. McDermott has learnt the lesson well and his defense did everything to stop Brady. For sure Bills' defense was not a one tricky ponny and I bet it will be a top 5 this year.
Speaking of Sanders,Diggs or every WR linked with Patriots I would slow down a bit. The first reason is obviously a salary cap,the second thing is Bills' secondary, really good secondary. That is why talking about our receivers' crisis just after one game is ridiculous. Hold on,let's see what will happen during the game with Washington.
BTW - Gordon is good for me. Ok,he is not a sexy fantasy pick but he is working hard for the team. Almost every play he creates space for receivers,he is man to man covered or even doubled.

because they drafted McCourty, Gronkowski and Hernandez. All of those were stunningly good for 1st year players.

The lack of young and cheap talent on this roster is definitely very concerning.

Then when you look at who we could lose next year it paints a clear picture.

But then again Brady might retire or his play might drop off dramatically at 43 so the end of our run might have come anyway next year.

But regardless of him, we will have a **** ton of holes next year due to poor drafting.

Won’t be surprised if the chiefs made a move for a corner. Chris harris or maybe Peterson could be available down the line. Need to stack up with another wideout.

I'm OK with 2/4 players when none of the picks are in the first or second rounds.

Brandon Meriweather was acceptable. Everyone else in that draft was fourth round or later.
First off, who is the second player from 2017? I count one contributing player since then, who I pointed out, and that’s Detrich Wise. Surely, you don’t consider Derek Rivers to be a quality draft pick, three years later.

Secondly, 2007 was a terrible draft class no matter how you try and spin it. I’m shocked that you would think otherwise. I think it’s well known to everyone that 2007 and 2017 were terrible draft classes, and there’s no shame in admitting that, especially when my point is how they’ve consistently been able to overcome poor years like it’s nothing.
