Where the F does he come up with that? What team would pay him that?

Weren't people saying Welker would get $9 million a year in free agency around this time last year? It is all speculation at this point.

Welker was at least always consistent and healthy (besides that one year) This was edelmans first healthy year in what...forever?

If that's the case, then...

He's going to get a nice contract from the Patriots and he's worth it.

I can't wait to laugh at the Edelman haters when he makes the Pro Bowl next year and helps us win a SB.

I'd rather try to get Decker if Edelman can actually get that kind of money.

Good luck to him if that's the case.

Don't want Decker, either. He's probably going to want #1 wideout money and he's a #2 wideout at best.

For $7m, I hope he enjoys Texas/Cleveland.

I'd pay him 7 at best. I feel like he'll go to a team like Minnesota though. Last year's free agent market had very strangely low contracts so we'll see. Nervous to give Edelman too much money and have him get hurt again. Would hate to see him go but, healthy Amendola should fill the slot pretty well.

First off, he's almost certainly pulling numbers out of his ass. In the unlikely event that he's not, that would mean adios Julian. Any team that pays him that much would be pretty foolish.

I think I would rather have Edelman over letting him go and getting another vet wr. I have confidence in thompkins, Boyce and Dobson getting better the second year.

He's definitely just pulling numbers out of his ass.

Take him. You could sign Sydney Rice and Jeremy Maclin for that kind of money.

I heard that interview live and both Holley and Salk expressed serious skepticism about that number.

I'd say Hello compensatory 3rd rd pick.

If someone wants to pay him that - more power to them - it will not be NE. If I were an owner I would IMMEDIATELY fire my GM if he paid Edelman that kind of money. A huge risk for a guy who has ONE full season under his belt.

Serious question:

Take a look at what BB paid Amendola in a year with an extremely tight cap, and realize that you're pretty much advocating firing him.

Does that change your position?

If he gets 7M I don't see how the Pats can match that. There will be the hate threads but honestly how can you begrudge a guy who really didn't get paid in his rookie deal or his oner deal that opportunity. If it happens congrats Julian.

Decker disappears in too many games and is soft. I want no part of him. I'm really afraid Josh is going to sell Bill on another of his guys. I feel the same way about Jimmy Graham.
