Jerod Mayo's changing role with New England Patriots notable in win - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN

Always good to read up on these.

Things that jump out to me.

Mayo - 23 snaps Freeney - 47 (BB thinks Freeney is a better option than Mayo right now.. can't say I disagree)

DT was well rotated.

Ryan and Butler were out there every snap and Coleman just for 18. Clearly they preferred their 3rd Safety over their 3rd CB. The way Harmon and Chung are playing can't say i disagree. Also Richards was out there 33 snaps and didn't see him much. I guess that is mostly a good thing.

Williams played 40 snaps to Chandler's 22. This might be the norm with them wanting more blocking from their 2nd TE now perhaps.

Looks like Jackson is still not there yet with only 23 snaps but Kline has done well and I am finding it hard to find any reason to ever take Mason out. A lot less rotation this game then last but that can also be because bodies were short.

Amendola only played 41 snaps. Surprised by that with them impact he had. They should try to put him on the field more.

In regards to Amendola. The Pats are running a lot of 2TE and 3TE sets. Both in the passing game and the running game. This takes Amendola off the field because he's not as good a blocker, though he does try. The Pats have been leaving Edelman out there in the 2 TE sets that bring Mason on as a FB and in the 3 TE sets for the running game..

I would have like to have seen more play-action with the TEs going out, but the Pats didn't commit to the run enough last night..

When I read this weeks edition of "snap counts" all I can think about is how much depth we have.. and how our economic model supports this..

It is becoming more and more obvious that this might be #51's last season, hopefully Ms. Mayo will continue to be part of the press corps..
