Slot Options without Edelman

Point out who said they were superstars. All I saw was you saying Matthews was unimpressive and Britt wasnt a down field player. When I said JM was the best Slot WR I only meant to imply most productive slot WR because a lot of posters had not realized how good he was there.

The facts are there to back it up that the opposite is true. I dug up all the stats. Going all strawman on it dosnt work either i.e trying to imply I was proclaiming them superstars

None of this guarantees any of these WRs will work out here BTW.

I also dont buy the "he was the only WR on the team so his numbers dont count" BS. Matthews made the fuking plays every year his first 3 years in the league with 4 different QBs. And he did it with a different QB each year. And some of them sucked.

And his catch percentage numbers werent as horrible as everyone was proclaiming especially compared to guys like Baldwin and Amendola.....good company there.

That's cherry picking????

So, Edelmans 2013 season shouldnt count because he was "the only WR they had??"

Just admit JM was better than you thought.

You literally said Matthews was the best slot receiver in the league. Look, I watched the Eagles a lot when Matthews played there. The guy wasn't anything special. He was a #1 receiver by circumstance on an offense devoid of talent that nevertheless ran a ton of plays and threw a ton of passes because of Chip Kelly. Counting stats are all well and good, but devoid of context they're meaningless. Patriots fans should know this. Think about the sorts of unimpressive receivers we've seen who have put up counting stats. Reche Caldwell caught 65 balls here, and Brandon Lloyd caught 75. Had Matthews been drafted by the plodding Jaguars in 2014 and forced to compete with Robinson for balls, his stat line probably looks closer to Allen Hurns than what it did.

And you've consistently talked around the elephant in the room, which is that he looked pretty, well, unimpressive when he wasn't injured last season with the Bills.

I don't actually think he has bad hands (I think Edelman has worse hands, for example), I just don't think he gets open all that well and he doesn't create a ton of yardage after the catch. He's fine, he's nothing special, he's - in a word - unimpressive. I appreciate your willingness to engage here, it's nice to interact with someone who isn't an ass.

Typical bs comment from someone who made a stupid comment and got challenged.

Where did I defend Matthews?

I pointed out that you evidently either don’t know what cherry picking is, or purposely misused it.
I pointed out that your comment implying the slot position improved is curious when the production went down.

Nothing to do with defending a patriot, everything to do with you being wrong.

I guess you're not going to bother responding to the part about the offenses Matthews played in, the presence of a true WR1 in Jeffrey or the historical number of passes thrown. It's inconvenient, let's ignore it. That's fine. You can cherrypick your arguments with the best of them, white knight.

Bruins29 was doing just fine without you, for what it's worth. We all are. Maybe you should just delete your account and figure out some more productive way to spend your time. We'd all appreciate it.

And Patterson caught a whopping 52 passes for 453 yards, yes that is 28 yards a game. That’s 41% of Edelman’s numbers. It would have been 6th in the patriots. It was 4th on the Vikings.
Edelman was26% of the patriots receiving yards. Patterson was 12% of the Vikings. Matthews had 77% more receiving yards in 2016 than Patterson yet the eagles threw for less yards than the Vikings.
Matthews was 22% of the eagles yardage.

“Patterson will warrant the same respect as Edelman”. Proof of my statement you know nothing about football.

There isn’t because he isn’t.
Patterson 6’2 220
Matthews 6’3 215
And the sky is blue.

In that entire reel he made a grand total of 3 catches from the slot. 3.
This is while he caught an incredible 31 passes for 309 yards all year. Yes that is 19 receiving yards per game. Wow have to respect him like Edelman.

But hey Patterson caught 11 3rd passes and made 6 first dune catches on 3rd down. That’s almost 1 every other game. Wow.
Those 6 first downs are the exact same number as MR Slot had in the 2016 season you are pimping.

12 in 2 years what a machine.

Belichick told Patterson that the Patriots would make him the player that he should be. Patterson is not going to be fetching Gatorade for Brady.

It’s an excuse. And I wasn’t really arguing the point as much as I was just pointing out your incorrect comments. I know you can’t handle that but it is hat it is.

Do I threaten you that much?
Sorry, it must be difficult for you.

I'd expect his production to go up here, though. Especially in the first four weeks of the season while Edelman is out. Of course, this assumes a couple of things:
  • Berrios and/or McCarron don't start the season in the slot after an impressive camp.
  • Matthews remains healthy.
He's nothing special, but he's a capable option while Edelman sits out. The real question, at least IMO, is what Matthews will be in this offense once Edelman gets back.

At the time lynch was a cancer in the locker room and sucked on the field. The bold ga e him away.

Saying me comparing anyone to April of 2010 lynch means I called them a top tier RB I’d beyond ridiculous.

If all you need was eyes why did the bills only get a 4th round pick?

Too late to go back and change your high praise about Maroney and Lynch.

The more you back peddle, the deeper youre sinking in quicksand.

Omg Belichick told him something. I’m sure every player that ever happened with became a superstar. 85.

I’m sure Patterson will have a role. You just are entirely wrong about what it will be, as usual.

Triumph gets owned so badly he need to go back 8 years to misrepresent my opinion.

As a prosecutor, Im establishing a timeline and character outline for the court. I could have used any number of your posts that have been proven wrong over these years, but figured Maroney was a good example as any to illustrate that you dont know what the hell your talking about.

Glad you brought Stinko up too.

He was another that you defended tooth and nail after I told you that he was worthless.

Wrong again.

Let’s see. I said that A maroney lynch trade at the time was reasonable.

Within months the patriots traded maroney and a 6 for a 4
The bills traded lynch for a 4.

High praise? Funny.

My conclusion is that Matthews, Patterson and Britt are likely to make the 53 (with Hogan). I don't care whether a particular player is better than a player from another team.

I don't think Britt is likely to make the 53 at all. He offers nothing on ST.
