It ain't going away, but one thing you can do is teach your kids about jealousy, and how useless it is. While people are whining about jealousy, others are getting to work and becoming winners. Want to be a jealous loser or a winner? Just because American society is embracing the "comfort" of victimhood and jealousy, doesn't mean there aren't still winners and losers. It takes the same formula it's always been; work hard, be smart, know when to take advantage of luck and opportunities, and don't be afraid to fail a bit on your way up. Losers wallow in excuses and jealousy. It's not a way to live.
I do the same thing. I had a hell of a conversation yesterday with someone and started laying out the facts. It's amazing what people don't know. I converted one.
It's definitely ****ed up for a teacher to get in on it. Not sure this person should be fired, but a word of warning from the school administration is in order. I'm not a PC person in the slightest, but the teacher is crossing the line here in ganging up on a child. Teachers should be teaching; maybe, in this case, the teacher could start with a lesson on jealousy versus winning.
Regarding your kids it depends how old they are and if they can grasp the concepts. If anyone says anything to me, I just tell them I'm happy to talk about it but I know the facts and if they can't match that knowledge it will be a difficult conversation for them. No one takes me up on it.

Sue the school for bullying. Friggan losers.
That "teacher" should be fired immediately. Goddamned bigoted subhuman.
