Sick of the "cheaters" tag....

It ain't going away, but one thing you can do is teach your kids about jealousy, and how useless it is. While people are whining about jealousy, others are getting to work and becoming winners. Want to be a jealous loser or a winner? Just because American society is embracing the "comfort" of victimhood and jealousy, doesn't mean there aren't still winners and losers. It takes the same formula it's always been; work hard, be smart, know when to take advantage of luck and opportunities, and don't be afraid to fail a bit on your way up. Losers wallow in excuses and jealousy. It's not a way to live.

Regarding your kids it depends how old they are and if they can grasp the concepts. If anyone says anything to me, I just tell them I'm happy to talk about it but I know the facts and if they can't match that knowledge it will be a difficult conversation for them. No one takes me up on it.

I do the same thing. I had a hell of a conversation yesterday with someone and started laying out the facts. It's amazing what people don't know. I converted one.

Sue the school for bullying. Friggan losers.

That "teacher" should be fired immediately. Goddamned bigoted subhuman.

It's definitely ****ed up for a teacher to get in on it. Not sure this person should be fired, but a word of warning from the school administration is in order. I'm not a PC person in the slightest, but the teacher is crossing the line here in ganging up on a child. Teachers should be teaching; maybe, in this case, the teacher could start with a lesson on jealousy versus winning.

That teacher is falsely humiliating a child. He/she should get a swift kick in the azz, and a boot out the door. Try politics instead.

People **** up. I believe in second chances.

But not third chances...

It's not going away, buddy. Embrace it. We are the Yankees of football.

That's right. Nobody cheated on anything in the history of the franchise. Maybe BB taped under a canopy instead of the stands, in which case he should have git a slap on wrist. Brady didn't do diddly. Why would he bother. check stats before and after.

Since Spygate broke the Pats have been to 4 Super Bowls. I guess that wasn't the reason they kept winning.

Oh wait! It was the Footballs. Right?

Since Deflategate broke the Pats have been to 2 Super Bowls, 3 AFC Championship games and Brady's stats were better than prior to defamegate. I guess that wasn't the reason they kept winning.

What's next Rogah?

ESPN did it!

I hear the craziest things. Just this week a Raider fan told me that the tuck rule had never been called before the Snow Bowl. So I had to tell him it was called in the Jets' favor against the Patriots earlier that season. But it wasn't a playoff game so no-one cared. Then someone told me unequivocally that the Patriots were caught listening to another team's headset. I think he was angling towards the Zolak "talking to" Tomlin incident but had the facts way off (including that the Patriots did something wrong).

It just makes me laugh but I could see it being tough for kids - again, depending on their age.

A year ago I was talking to my then 16 year old son about Spygate. He had heard of it but wasn't a Patriots fan back then (he was only 7). So I explained what it was and he said "that's all it was ? Everyone tries to steal signs that's why they cover their mouths and in college sometimes have sheets covering the playcaller on the sidelines".

All I could say was "yep".

its not going away. Look at the local media , they bring it up and validate it more than anyone.
For e.g. - here is a fun segement. Ask players is pumping in crowd noise worse or deflating footballs. Just by asking the question they validate that pats did it.
Giles asks former NFL players how they feel about the Patriots

Its funny...

-Jets had the tuck rule in their favor against us in the RS.
-Evidence suggests its actually the Rams who were trying to watch our practice and not the other way around.
-Mangini's Jets pulled the same thing on us first but its us who get called for Spygate.
-Deflategate was the biggest witch hunt in the history of pro sports.
-If we bugged locker rooms you'd think someone would've booked us by now in the last 16 years.

Never underestimate stupidity in sheer numbers.

At the point when that question was asked the team was under the impression that the balls were 2.5 psi under regulation, which is a level of deflation that could not be explained by natural phenomena. Tom was falsely led to believe that something indeed had occurred and he probably was wondering if the ball prep they did or his emphasis on making sure the balls are 12.5 might have contributed to something happening.

That is what I also believe to be the truth.

However, we have to keep our house in order.
Days had passed since the initial allegations. False as they were, the Patriots should have defended themselves more aggressively instead of Belichick saying, " Tom handles his balls" followed by Tom coming out looking confused and unclear of his own innocence.
That is the national perception. I'm not saying it is correct, but it could have been avoided had Tom defended himself more aggressively.

Just wanted to comment, I see a lot of GREAT Dads here, well done gentlemen. My daughter is 5, we live in NJ, she wears her patriots shirt to school ALOT, when she walks down ther street here if she sees a Jets hat or a Yankees she, she tells them that their team sucks. I am very proud of her.

All of these statements are probably true but you will never see them in media, spoken by former patriots in the media, or anyone with the stage to "tell the world."
That is why we have this board. So we can quietly share these thoughts amongst ourselves because no one else really cares.
It does not matter because we've already lost the national court of opinion.

I always correct fools on the spot when they rag on me repping the Pats. I had a Manning fan who I was in their fantasy league... taunt me on asking why I bothered asking what the pay out structure was...funny that I ended up winning the pool but then this scum bag of an ex-colleague punks me my money because I was simply asking nicely when I'd get my winnings. I hope karma bites him in the ass.

As they say...losers focus on winners...winners focus on winning.

Again, I hope people will slowly realize the longer they hate, the longer our players will play a little harder and win more SBs.

My daughter actually came to me to ask me on how to respond to her math teacher who was taunting her on deflate and spygate. She in fact was able to counter him with "science" on deflategate and he conceded but then went onto say "what about spygate...pats are cheaters". Really sad that the NFL has done this unfair deed on an entire fan base.....hope we win on Sunday and will just need to put the hand up to show five fingers.....need this win to shut these ignorant pile of.....!!!

She could explain to this math teacher that if he could count as well as Belichick, he might have a job that was more rewarding than having to be reduced to taking out his frustrations on his teenage students.

I think there is a difference between the Yankees and Pats. The Yankees have always been America's team and have always been favored by the media. The Pats obviously are not America's team (despite our name) and we are almost systematically crapped on by the media--at the very least that ASTERISK has to be emphasized in almost all discussions.

I just read one national columnist state that the Pats might turn out to be the best team in NFL history--that is, if you exclude all their corruption. What a stupid jerk (a camera and air in a ball=a single spit ball in baseball)

Yes, and I could explain to somebody of another religion that mine's really true.

Sorry to all, but "fan" is (as we all know) short for "fanatic." The science teacher is the perfect character to demonstrate which part of the mind is in operation when we are in "football mode." The penumbra of images, narratives, etc., surrounding our football minds is of a similar character, but with enough points broken into multi-syllabic internal utterances that we believe them to be results of conscious processes.

These are not conscious musings, but largely the regurgitation of voices fed us by various "sports media" outlets, or dumped into that treasured gray jello we all so prize by the people around us. So it is, and so shall it ever be, world without end, amen.

My advice: Let her know that sometimes just being right doesn't make somebody else change their mind... it's a teachable moment. Tell her it's like the kid that's bullied for being different. Worst thing that kid, or her, can do, is think that she's the bad one because "everybody says so." Tell her it's unfair, but look around at all the other unfair things kids (and sometimes teachers) do... and remember that thinking people don't do that.

Then send her to school ready to tell that teacher that he's repeating what he's heard, that he has no evidence for his hypothesis, and that he should get a job teaching religion in a parochial school.

My kids proudly wore their Brady and Pats jerseys in school today (live in NJ...belly of the beast) and they got the typical cheating nonsense from fellow students and even from teachers. Quite sickening. My daughter actually came to me to ask me on how to respond to her math teacher who was taunting her on deflate and spygate. Unfortunately there is no denying that it sucks, and the rest of the country talks this ****. I hear it when I travel. The real answer is to call them losers.. but the problem with that is some day our winning (at least at this level) will be thing of the past. If 20 years from now looking back people are still calling them cheaters then unfortunately the stain is going to stick. For me, I think of Larry Bird. If for some reason he was severely tainted by something negative like this still to this day it would suck.

Hopefully this ******** just ends forever. There is no question that I have been robbed some of my joy by it all. F them.
