I love Rosen and would trade for him in a heartbeat. Think a lot of the reports of "character concerns" and "not loving the game" or not being a leader come from weird low-level antisemitism. (Not saying anyone in here is engaging in that, just that I suspect that colored a lot of the official draft punditry.)
Kingsbury was a good hire. It's about time the Air Raid makes it to the NFL.
I could see how some people could use anti-semitism against Rosen, but I actually didn't make the connection for quite some time that he's even Jewish (I guess the name should have given it away, but I wasn't even putting two and two together; sometimes I'm not very bright). Maybe I'm wrong, but he gives off vibes of having a weird, passive aggressive attitude. I've never come away from reading one of his interviews without feeling uneasy about him as the face of the franchise. I could be dead wrong, but the fact that so many other people have picked up on it makes me think it's more than anti-semitism.
I disliked Rosen's game after watching him multiple times in college -- he's a very good pocket passer, but not in the way that Brady is, because Brady can move and doesn't panic. Rosen is not great in the face of pressure. He processes too slowly. Additionally, he just had a terrible rookie year by any metric, so I feel justified in my coolness toward him as a prospect.

Yes, I get that you can't always judge a player early, but all the things I was concerned about in college have only been amplified in the pros. If he were released and we picked him up for the minimum, then fine. But to trade anything for him at this point would irritate me. He is a very clean, accurate thrower when there's no pressure in his face. I don't like his lack of awareness against blitzers, though, and I don't think a 55% completion rate and more INTs than TDs is all that exciting.
I'd trade for Rosen for 2 second round pick (this year and next). You cannot even come close to looking at this year with the Cards. Bad OL, bad offensive system, and it seems bad coaching. This kid IS a first round talent, the kin,d that Pats wouldn't get unless they went 2-14 some year.
Trade for him, let him come here and sit for a year or 2, and then take over. It would be the best thing for him and settle the Pats future QB situation once and for all.
That being said, IF (and that's a big if) Rosen is actually on the trade block, there are teams like the Dolphins who would likely bid more than 2 2nds (and at the bottom of the round to boot).
BTW- I think those trade rumors came about because Kingsbury said he'd take him first when touting him before he had to play OU this year. It's one thing to puff up an opponent before a game. We see Bill do it EVERY game It's another to actually do it.
I'd rather use our seconds on another Dawson.
I don't agree with the bolded. Jacoby Brissett has better completion, TD, and INT %, AY/A, QB rating, etc. He's tough, likeable, and I was sorry to see him go even though I knew he wasn't the future (although I wanted him to develop into more). Jimmy G is on a totally different planet. They're not even remotely comparable.
In fact, even
Ryan Mallett has a better career rating and INT% than Rosen, while they have the same completion %. Would you trade a second for Mallett, let alone
two of them? I hope not, Ken. You're too smart for that.
