we'll have to disagree then. I think the fumbles, injuries, and dancing makes him a liability and everytime he got the ball i cringed.

If 3 fumbles in 4 years makes a guy a liability, what the hell is a guy who fumbles 8 times a year?

Not true. According to NFL.com Maroney had a higher lost fumble / per carry ratio than even Adrian Peterson last season.

That's what you call an aberration.

Well, if it were me (and it's not), I'd re-sign Light and keep Vollmer on the right. That allows the team to draft interior linemen, because Neal will be playing his last year and Koppen's taken a beating.

Besides, with Maroney gone, Light's the only whipping boy left.

It isn't my choice either, but Volmer would go to LOT, Light to swing tackle, a 1st rounder would go to RT, and Mankin, Kaczur and Connolly become the Gs and we use a 2 on a Center with Ohrnberger the swing C/G.

How about 2 RBs in rounds 3 and below? Leave the top picks to DE, OL, OLB pleeeeeease!

Well, Adrian Clayborn or Cameron Heyward appear to be the perfect fit for that Raiders draft pick.

Anything's possible, I guess, but Light is not a right tackle. BB has commented on this in the past:

Exactly. We'd better be getting someone better than Jackson, and even he was #3 overall. This year, I'd be surprised if a team that's looking for that talent is at the top of the draft (the Chiefs don't suck, Mangini will be fired anyways if the Browns finish worse than the Raiders), so the Pats should be able to use that pick to get the best of what's supposed to be a really good DE class. Might even be able to trade around a bit.

Actually, come to think of it, I'd love it if the Pats select DE Allen Bailey from the U. And knowing BB, I could definitely see that happening.

I can't believe we got as much as we did for Maroney. Not only is he hurt, but he's also in the last year of his contract. He was only going to see the field if Taylor got hurt and even then it's only on 1st and 2nd downs. Great trade imo. Now we can use that Raiders pick to get a 1st round RB

1. I guess this speaks to how the team feels about Taylor and BJGE (given his playing time in the last game). It's clear that they're looking for more downhill, north-south, type of runners this season. I just hope that Taylor's health holds up or this trade looks horrible in a hurry.

2. This is a great trade for Denver. They have a better run blocking O-Line than we do. Maroney should do well as their #2 option.

With Ryan Grant IR'd today in Green Bay, the market may have opened up for Maroney.

This was Maroney's last year. If he became a free-agent, and later signed by some team. Does the Patriots get a draft pick as a result? If so, what round would it be?

LOL. Ok tough guy. Your post implied that they just released him (i.e., "BB said my way or the highway..blah blah blah"). The fact is they had 5 backs they felt pretty good about, they weren't going to resign him and they got a valuable draft pick in return by trading him. Let me spell it out for you: The sole reason Maroney was shipped out was because he has BY FAR the most trade value of any of the backs on the roster. If BJGE could've commanded a third, be assured that he would have been the one traded.

Your irrational hatred of the player is wreaking havoc with your ability to process logic. If (1) Welker was in the last year of his deal; and (2) the Patriots saw Welker, Edelman and Gonzalez as being relative equals in the slot, then the Patriots would likely trade Welker, yes.

Denver's 4th might be pretty high. I would have liked to see them get the 4th for him without having to give up the 6th, but lets face it, 6th round picks are going to have a hard time making this team next year, as the Pats will already be adding two #1s two #2s, a 3rd and now two #4s. That's seven rookies (plus the obligatory UDFA who makes the team) so throwing in the 6th really doesn't bother me.
