We may win more games with Maye, but doesn't necessarily mean it is a good thing for the long term to start him now. Again, it could have no affect on him long term vs. sitting him a little bit longer or he could even benefit from it more. I am just stating it is a risk and the risk may end up being far greater than the reward.
Winning would be a good thing for long term success. This team hasn't tasted a Winning experience since week 1. I don't really know that there is a perfect scenario where he could have been inserted the way the team was playing. I'm a believer that he had to be ready in order for Mayo to start him. Just my opinion

I think we can. Washington changed QBs like we did. Changed entire staff's like we did. Heck even changed ownership. There are alot of comparable you can take Rob I wouldn't dismiss this. On CJ he was told just like Drake he'd have to develop and sit. He beat out Davis mills and caserio even said he was NFL ready. The Panthers offense is still better under Dalton. Daniela was a 4 year player becuase he transferred to LSU. I see many comparables to Washington as a organization and us as an organization.

Except you are not factoring the most important part. Daniels has had what two or three seasons more experience as a starter in college than Maye. That is big. And yes, Daniels' college situation was different, but he did play a lot more than Maye did in college. Daniels played in 55 games. Maye played in 30.

Duly noted but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Also Brissett Starting isn't a very high bar to surpass I saw no benefit in continue running out the ineffective Brissett over Starting Maye and Mayo agrees.

Yep no Free Agents are going want to come here IF a our needle ain't pointing up.

They have no left tackle, no right tackle, no center, and a rookie QB has to make the O Line calls. That’s ****ing stupid. I support this regime, but this is a terrible decision, made solely to placate crybaby fans who “ want to be entertained.”
They have no QB either, which does impact an OLs performance. So they're improving that position. I'm glad the regime isn't as cowardly as some of its fanbase

With the talk about Daniels playing forever in College I feel confident that Joe Milton will pan out. Didn't he play like 10 years in College?? Experience is on our side.

I can't control how you feel.
Well I never...

This is still my concern. Maybe he is ready, but even at least some in other teams’ front offices believe the Pats may be making a mistake and too reactionary towards starting Maye this quickly. Maybe he is ready and shine, but if he isn’t it could be a mistake to rush his timeline.
My theory on how we got here:

I think Mayo wanted to start Drake on day one. Wolf/Kraft would not let him. After all, that wasn't the plan. They knew ahead of time and indicated repeatedly that Drake had work to do and that they weren't going to rush him. JB was signed to be the bridge QB to allow Drake to develop. But Drake developed quickly and pushed JB in camp. Clearly Mayo preferred to start him (the best QB will play, he said), but the Wolf/Kraft consensus (at that time) was to continue to develop him. Mayo is overruled.

A surprising (not to me, I was a 4 QB advocate and was sure the Pats would go in that direction, but to a lot of folks here) was that Zappe stuck around in camp, despite Drake's progression. Zappe was released at the end of but snatched up by KC just 3 days later, which I suspect surprised the Patriots FO. There were questions about the OL to start the season, so I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted Zappe around, just in case, but weren't willing to give him a roster spot with Milton there. KC blew up that option.

Still, Mayo says Drake is ready, so we're fine with 2 QBs (Milton doesn't really count since he's behind Drake). Let's roll with JB to start for a handful of games to make sure the rest of the offense is settled. No need for a vet backup, Drake is on the cusp. Besides, he knows how to deal with a poor OL.

Then the OL showed what are train wreck they are. JB is taking a beating. JB's performance deteriorates (getting hit a lot will do that, and JB isn't that good to begin with). Then Drake goes in for relief against the Jets. The beginning of the Maye era? Maybe his better mobility and other attributes will help. Then he gets sacked twice in just 10 drop backs, pressured on the other 8. Oops, maybe this isn't a good idea.

Wolf doesn't want to play him given the circumstances, but Mayo does. Mayo gives football reasons: a better, more mobile QB will keep the defense more flat footed, less aggressive. But Kraft sides with Wolf, for now. They could bring in a vet QB, but there isn't consensus and it would take time to get someone up to speed. JB becomes more of a disaster with each week. Trouble brews with the players as the losses pile up. Fans (not uber fans like us) are losing interest. It looks like another season of futility, even worse than last season. Not what Kraft was expecting. Kraft was the toast of the NFL for decades, and now his team is truly bottom of the barrel. He knows that attendance will decline, merch sales will suffer and that things could spiral even lower.

So Kraft changes his mind and sides with Mayo. Drake will start. May the football gods protect his body and psyche.

AvP sucks big greasy pork meatballs with chocolate sauce.

Bottom line is they misjudged how bad Brissett was going to be. To continue to trot him out there on a professional team just wasn’t going to cut it anymore. This wasn’t the plan, but here we are.
They also misjudged how bad the OL would be, which clearly has helped make a below-average QB into what he is now.

Oh I agree on that. I'm just mentioning where his organization is in comparison to where are. Both QBs are drafted into rebuilding situations. However I'd say Washington has at least more talent around Daniels at the skill positions on offense. They are both NFL rookies. Daniels will hit adversity at some point this season I'm curious to see how he responds.

Nailed it: they are comparing Cowardice Mac Jones to Maye already. In my mind I'm hoping Maye turns into Allen or Herbert.

Not with the way he's moves the Football around a sign of Greatness. I really wanted Austin Ekeler in FA he's a WR playing RB he really helps the overall Offense and a Young QB.

Maye is the QB of their future, and my feeling on it is once they start him he stays as the starter. If that means getting the **** kicked out of him then he will just have to overcome it. As much as I wanted him to sit for the season I really don’t want them to yo yo him. I think that’s one of the worst things you can do to a young QB.
You can't. Once he's in, it has to be his job. If you pull him out, it means we need to look for a new QB for the franchise. There's no waffling. Once they sat Mac as a starter, his time in NE was over for good. Unless Maye gets injured, he has to start the rest of the year now. Going back and forth just hurts him

For football reasons yes; my guess is Kraft is seeing fan interest, game attendance and viewership crater. This is a home game against a good team, folks will attend and watch to see Maye play.

Yep; this decision is absolutely ownership-approved, if not ownership-driven itself.
