The Drake patriots
Congratulations, your temper tantrums worked, entertainment it is. Maye is going to play behind the worst OL in football. You better pray it works out.

Good for you!I root for the team, not a player.
I get the guy has a cannon, but he comes with the rep of not being able to see defenses real well. I am ok with him being #3 for now.Milton can make throws that Brissett can’t,
Or won’t.
Just something to consider.

Try to contain your disappointment if it turns out to be a good decision.Congratulations, your temper tantrums worked, entertainment it is. Maye is going to play behind the worst OL in football. You better pray it works out.
I hope you aren't right about that, but it is certainly a reasonable concern. After being on board with starting Brissett for a while, I now think it's time for Maye to play, but this is the among the worst games to have as his first. I wish we had a veteran backup in place so we'd have options. Making Maye the backup has resulted in our not having options at this point other than staying with Maye or throwing a rookie into a pretty perilous situation. I hope it goes well for Maye's sake and everybody else's.It'd be disappointing if we decided to sacrifice the potential franchise QB on the altar of entertaining the fan base, but it seems that's the tack the organization is on.
I think your right and who's to say if he hasn't also been dealing with an underlying injury.I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a factor in this decision was they wanted to give Brisket a break from being tenderized to the point of becoming hamburger.
If maye wasn't ready he would not be inserted no matter how bad Brissett is.You assume he gains something by going in early if he’s not ready.
I don't agree. I see this as the Pats caving to pressure. If maye wasn't ready he would not be inserted no matter how bad Brissett is.
I think some posters are getting flash backs of Mac. So they in turn are thinking Drake will be ruined. The organization took the right approach. When he was drafted they he that he would be developed. What sped things up was his acsedning to the offense was faster then they realized. We've had rookie QBs play thier first season in NE before, Bledsoe, and Mac to name some recent ones. We all just have to let maye play.. seeing him develop into what we believe he can be is what the main goal is out of this season.I hope you aren't right about that, but it is certainly a reasonable concern. Maybe. It's also could be seeing Jacoby cave each game.I don't agree. I see this as the Pats caving to pressure.
I think based on Mayo's comments at the end of Camp that Maye was ready and that we cut Zappe our vet backup meaning Maye was one injury away from playing all year that this isn't the case but don't be silly many players have been thrown to the wolves before they were ready. If maye wasn't ready he would not be inserted no matter how bad Brissett is.
You have a point he did admit Drake outplayed Jacoby also remember him saying what may be good for the team now may not be what is going to be good for the team "weeks" down the line.I think based on Mayo's comments at the end of Camp that Maye was ready and that we cut Zappe our vet backup meaning Maye was one injury away from playing all year that this isn't the case but don't be silly many players have been thrown to the wolves before they were ready.
This was very predictable. Fans are paying to go to these games with their hard earned money to see the #3 overall pick play, not a journeyman losing QB in Jacoby Brissett.I don't agree. I see this as the Pats caving to pressure.
Agreed. In many ways the QB play was much worse than last season. I couldn't imagine looking like this all season. This year is very important win or loose maye needed to be on display so we know what we have going forward.I believe they wanted to wait a little longer but the pressure is too much, from the 64 QBs, starter and immediate backups in the NFL, Brissett's play is the worst or at least in the bottom 5. I can only remember Bryce Young being worse.
I fear for Maye but it is what it is. I hope he doesn't develop bad habits. Injuries he's a young guy he can recover from.
LET'S GO!
This is 100% down to protecting their jobs. They see that Jacoby is playing much worse than they expected, they are losing non stop, have lost the fans patience and probably about to lose the locker room.I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a factor in this decision was they wanted to give Brisket a break from being tenderized to the point of becoming hamburger.
This is debateable. We've seen plenty of project QB's that were meant to sit on the bench end up being rushed out because the team was scared of the backlash of trotting out a bad starter. Usually it's bad teams that do it. Hopefully Maye actually is ready. If maye wasn't ready he would not be inserted no matter how bad Brissett is.
