How is risking more losses with this team a catastrophic event? With the right leadership, a team can turn around after years of futility. Every year starts with new hope. But you know what would be catastrophic? A big hit to Drake that causes a severe shoulder injury, forever impacting his mechanics and arm strength. He's going to get a lot of big hits. Let's cross our fingers.
Because there is more at risk than just losses

What is at risk, other than losses?

Keep in mind even if Drake isn't hurt and struggles, whatever you fear may happen if Drake doesn't play may happen anyway. The odds are that Drake is going to take a lot of hits and struggle mightily, given the situation.

47% pressure rate for the Pats vs 27% for the Bears. It's not even close.
Sack numbers didn't look that far off we were 30 and Bears 27.

I'm sure you can get hurt just trying to avoid pressure. And you might even still get hit without a sack. But as far as injury goes I think sack rate is actually still the more relevant stat and not subjective.

Our sanity?
It'd be disappointing if we decided to sacrifice the potential franchise QB on the altar of entertaining the fan base, but it seems that's the tack the organization is on.

If 52 guys are risking their careers what message are you sending by keeping one guy off the field?

Your going to build a lack of trust and players will start resenting teammates and coaches as their wallets get impacted by not playing the best players.

Drake is more mobile than JB, so pressure rate is likely to be more predictive of injury. He escapes and gets exposed to open field action and tackles. Hopefully they've programmed him to slide and not do too much trying to extend plays.

Don't buy it. There are players on awful teams every year. The message you are sending is that the kid isn't ready and this will hinder his development. It's the most important position on the field by far.

99% of that damage was done by the Patriots in the offseason. Not playing Drake would have been a smart decision and I bet the smarter players would understand.

All that said, I hope he doesn't get hurt and I hope he plays well. If it works out, great. It's still dumb.

I was thinking QB hits might actually be the best stat more so than just sacks but also better than just pressure.

Pressure rate is a good indicator of how an offense functions. But if you blow up a play and I just throw it away with no threat of ever getting hit or hurt that will change pressure rates even if I'm never at risk of getting hurt.

Look there is no debate our OL sucks and Maye is at more risk here than most teams I just think most teams in our position usually have crappy lines too and you got to play to get better.

I don't understand why they would broadcast this ahead of time. We used to keep the opponent guessing.

Whoever is leaking this is making it more difficult for Maye.
It's a home game. My guess is Kraft is panicking about ticket sales and attendance. The announcement is to drive attendance.

And attendance is hugely important, as concessions and parking are 30% to 50% of total stadium revenue. So empty seats are a problem even if they are paid for.

People will turn out on Sunday to see Maye.

You’re right it's a rash of Good rookie QBs this season with ACL injuries... nix, Williams, Daniels are all lost for the season.
You act like those teams offensive lines are all as bad as ours…

Snarky sarcasm doesn’t make a bad observation a good one. Do better…

Last I checked Washington was rebuilding too.

Bob has gone Jerry Jones and is calling the shots.

Mayo is Jason Garrett.
Maybe he always was Jerry Jones at heart, it was just really difficult to insert yourself as the alpha “Thunder” when TFB and BB were the reasons for the dynasty’s success,

And not YOU!

You know how sometimes teams will throw a last second throw into the end zone in a desperate attempt to win?

This is that.
I think it's more like Russian roulette with one round. If it goes click, you make more money this year and perhaps have some momentum into next year. If it goes boom, your QB of the future gets seriously injured and/or needs treatment for PTSD. We're spinning the cylinder!
