Williams will end up a really good QB. Needs to work on consistency and get that completion% up, and yes our guy is better, but Williams will have success.
Last year I viewed Williams as JaMarcus Russell, which was hyperbole but he just looked like a disaster to me. He has improved so much this year, which I never thought he could.

My hyperbole now - Caleb’s upside if he keeps improving is Donovan McNabb without the puking in crunch time. He takes poor routes rolling out like he did, takes awful sacks and throws terrible picks like he did under pressure, but can pinpoint throw the ball hard on many other occasions and can run and improvise as he did.

Williams was insane in that 4th quarter. They scored 25 points in the 4th quarter, Williams had 361 yards passing in the game. That pass to Odunze, my god. 4th & 8, with a guy around your ankle, that was a special play. Williams looked like Mahomes in this game, especially in the 4th quarter, Williams and the Bears just don’t quit.

I know my fellow Pat’s fans get upset when people give Williams praise, but in this game he deserves praise. The way the Packers played in the second half, they deserved to lose.
Clutch. That is where he has Maye beat right now. Comeback wins. Of course, Maye rarely needs to come back.

I think all four coaches involved today ought to be fired.
why ?? I think Ben Johnson will be a really good coach for years to come. This is his first year and he has his team going to the division round. A lot of folks over here wanted the PATS to hire him last year . Right now he and Vrabel are neck to neck, we shall see what happens over the next few years. Just because we didn't hire him, no need to throw shade at him. He is innovative and has been the main reason that Caleb has improved so much.

What?????? Is this based on just the games today or in general?

McVay should never be fired. Johnson is a first year HC doing spectacular things. Canales had his team playing hard as huge underdogs. LaFleur should be gone based on his body of work the past few years.

Seriously, all of them had some fireable moments.

McVay should have put in Garroppolo if Statford was really hurt.

somehow ben johnson rubs me the wrong way not sure why. Plus his 4t down decisions are crazy. He got bailed out big time.

that happens at times in games. Like vrabel's fake punt fail vs the ravens vs a backup QB.

The most basic of game management on Johnson's part, and the Bears win that by 17.

I think the Bears have a huge advantage with Johnson because he is HC/OC and there is no worry of him leaving.

He is a first year head coach, he deserves some leeway just like Vrabel does with his boneheaded fake punt play. No one was saying he should be fired on this board correct ?

There will come a game where Williams isn't able to bail him out from his terrible game management. And it will be soon.

There is a huge difference between one bad call, and a repeated pattern of awful game management.

Maybe, but as I said he will learn and become better as time goes on. I think he will be one of the better coaches for years to come.

Wow, I don’t even know how to reply to this one. You must REALLY hate Williams. If not, I have to question your football knowledge. Did you realize that Williams threw for 20 TD passes and only 6 INTs as a rookie. Yes Chicago was 5-12 last year, but much of that wasn’t really Williams fault.

Russell, though seen as legendarily bad by most, in 25 starts, had 18 TD passes and 23 INTs. When people talk about him, I thought his career stats were WAY worse. His last year, he was really bad though. 3 TD passes and 11 INTs. Russell couldn’t hold Williams’ jock when it comes to being an NFL QB.

Well they may not even keep it close enough to come back. Living on borrowed time. Just like the Steelers. Just like the Chargers (this or next week).

I watched parts of this game and came away with 2 thoughts that stood out to me. One, the Bears got to be the luckiest team in the league this year. That 4th down pass was just one play. They could have been called for holding a half dozen times. And GBs secondary blew coverage assignments consistently it seem at every critical point in the game

The 2nd thing is how important having your QB under C for a significant percentage of snaps. Going shotgun and spread may be fine when it's going well like in the first half, but when things get bumpy you have more options under C, with the PAP game.

If you are a Bears fan you have to be over the moon. BTW, Williams numbers weren't great, but he showed a lot of other qualities that will make him a top 10 QB or better for many years.

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn't trade him for our guy, but other guys can be good too.

All 4 teams played sloppy, mistake laden football today.
I can't see either of today's winners advancing next week.
Defense on the day was atrocious.
GB allowed 25 pts....in the 4th quarter. That is simply unacceptable.

Yeah, Williams is really clutch, he’s been that way since his first year in college. I remember him coming in for Spencer Rattler when Oklahoma was way down to Texas. Williams was a freshman and brought them back to win. The clutch gene is strong with this one.

Yep.

Seahawks, Broncos, Patriots, Bills and Rams(still but barely). Jags feel like they really should have a shot... They do. But I don't buy it. Same for the Eagles and 49ers. They seem like they should be in it. But just don't feel right.
Patullo ball.
