Saints and Colts games

We have the greatest respect for the patriots, their fans, and their accomplishments. We have actually wanted this game for 3 years in N.O.
I would not take our receivers lightly, our recievers are deep, we don't have 2 great WR's like the colts for you to worry about, we have 7 good ball catchers, you cant cover everyone. Ill just post some information so people can make up their own minds. We in the big easy are not about hate, we love the game and talking with the other fans, thats what makes it football for us. If you come to the Dome for the game you will be respected down here. I am not meaning to impose just thought the gentlemen who posted might want a look. Thanks for the opportunity to post here guys.
And this should be a great game.

You're picking the wrong fight there, the comment to which you're responding was posted by a Colts fan.

I think you'll find that most intelligent Pats fans respect Brees and the Saints quite a bit, as do I. On the flip side of that, this Saints team has yet to close out a season at a high level (see last year), so I think it's completely fair to say something like "Great Team, truly a really great QB, but the jury's out." That's how I'd put it, at least.

This board has a tradition of welcoming opposition posters who are polite and well-informed. You seem to be both.

Just remember that you're visiting a board where we measure ourselves and others not by You-tube clips but by Championships.

The Patriots' is a franchise that has been to seven Conference Championship Games and Six Super Bowls, winning three of them. The Pats started out only seven years before the Saints (1960 vs. 1967). So, your lone (losing) trip to the NFCCG after the 2006 Season isn't going to get a lot respect out here until you do something in January to which we can relate. Only the Texans have been to fewer Championship games (0) than have the Saints.

Maybe this is the team to change that; and, if you're in the SB and playing anyone but the Pats, I will probably be cheering for you!

I agree with what you're saying but to be fair if we subtract 7 years we have 3 conference championships and 1 title. Still a ton better, but who's to say the Saints aren't hitting their stride now?

That said, you're right they need to earn their respect in January and February, not October.

This is sort of funny:

Pats Fans "worried" "non chalant" about 6-0 Saints Matchup - SaintsReport Community Forums

One person in the thread says "apparently they think we're the same finesse team we were.." and they run with it like someone here said it. Amazingly if they actually read the board they'd see how much respect most posters here have for the Saints and quite a few have them up there in the 2nd favorite team thread.

I wouldn't read to much into this. After the Patriots became popular allot of posers showed up im sure , but as for most of us from N.O we respect the patriots allot. About 50% of all on the saintsreport.com are not N.O. natives.
I think anyone can tell you, if you went to the dome to support an opposing team of the saints you will have a great time, for every 1 person that says something rude to you about 40 will tell the rude saints fan to shut it. We don't support rude behavior down here, and ego is not an admired trait. We know you not worried at all, 3 SB's , your team is far from worried.

I know, one week at a time...bla bla ba..but its the Bye week and threads are few and far between and I need something to get me to through the work day.

I cant wait till these games, everyone seems to think that the patriots are going to lay down to these guys. Yea the colts are good (bad schedule and all) but we got my boy merriweather (the next big saftey in the nfl) waiting to pick of manning.

I'm more excited about the saints game. Yea its in the superdome...but we all know how our boy plays in a dome...Do you really think the patriots would let a 24-3 lead crumble? (dont mention the 2006 afccg, that was a different team) I dont think so. Breeze is good, but Brady is better. I cant wait untill the entire world sees it either.

yes the colts have not beat a good team this year

but you can say the same about the pats the best team they beat this year is the 3-3 ravens

right now they have a team in the fish who come in with a good passrush and a good runing game but they are a 2-4 team and they have 2 week's to get redy for them

so if they cant beat the fish then they cant go toe to toe with the big boy's

that's just the way i see it the game VS the fish is a biger game then the colts and saints

Not even interested in picking a fight or being rude, this is a patriot forum and I am only welcome here as long as they will let me.
The links were to provide a look at our players to the gentlemen that thought moore or henderson were not that good, we dont have the rings or banners. But we have more youtude videos than anyone

didn't know he was a colts fan but then we are not known for being the sharpest tool in the shed down here.

For one we don't have a franchise and probably never will, Saints have one championship in 40 years. As long as Ive been a fan they have had the worst record in football if I remember correctly.

But it has been, all threw those years, one of the most solid fan bases in the NFL, because we just like fun, football, and love our boys no matter what. I actually loved the years of wearing a bag on my head, it was allot of fun and met allot of good people.

I dont know if I would be comfortable with a franchise in N.O. , its just not our way, more of a family here. We'll never be a the greatest team in football, but we do have the the largest heart for our boys. We are not a well defined machine like the Patriots, we are what we are and emotional ball club, I don't think thats going to change.

Take the 2006 season , about 40,000 saints fans showed up to welcome then back, and there were huge parties for the boys for months after that. We were pretty proud they tried so hard. We know the boys want a ring, but I don't think many down here think a ring will make us love the team more.
I think the only thing that bothered anybody about the lose to the Bears was we would have liked them to play better, for themselves, but we understand that Brees just cant play in weather, and thats ok.

Most of us are just here to enjoy the season and playing the Patriots is going to give us a chance to host one of the best teams ever in football and show their fans a good N.O. time. Its just going to be a really fun game.

I think its also important to add that we may not be the best the NFL has to offer, but our saints are trying their best, and that is enough for us.

The Saints are a better team than that Bears team, I mean just compare the QBs. I know the Saints lost to the Bears that year in the NFCCG with Brees at QB but the 09 Saints would hang 40 on that 06 Bears team.

I think we can win this game but we're going to have to earn it. One thing I think we have going for us is that we know Gregg Williams pretty well and I'm sure we have a ton of film on him from his days in Buffalo. Hell we hung 52 on his Redskins defense in 07 although that was a home game.

That was the year we found out that Brees cant play in weather, he just cant.

my question is how do we always end up w/ a colts game, every season, no matter what?

you'd think some seasons we wouldn't get a colts game.

we have 6 division games, 2 NFC games, and there's 16 games total. that leaves 8 more games against the AFC, and there are 12 other AFC teams to choose from. I can't remember the last time we didn't have a colts game.

clearly the NFL wants us to have a colts game every year as its one of the biggest games of the year for the entire NFL. but at the same time, if they intentionally give us that matchup it automatically puts probably the most competitive game of the year on our schedule, year after year. not really fair to us.

No, the schedule has been in place since 2002 and it is always:

2 against division
play one whole afc division
one whole nfc division
the same place finishers of the other 2 afc divisions

The Pats and Colts have finished first in their divisions almost every year, so they play each other every year. Last year we both finished second but it doesnt matter because we play the South this year anyway. We're guaranteed to play them once every 3 years and in the other 2 years if we finish in the same divisional standings we play each other.

great answer and answers my q. thanks.

Going to be a great game

If the refs call the pick play, we will beat the Colts IMO. I think our defense matches up better than last year's and of course we have Brady now.

The Saints game I'm not sure how to gauge just yet. If they're playing like they are now, that is going to be very very difficult. Both games will be hard. I see us taking one which I'd be happy with.

yeah, that's the way the "old" Pats won their SB's...taking a tuff fight to tuff opponents like we did when the road to the SB went thru pittsburgh in 2001/02 and 2004/05...still remember the afccg at Heinz Field when Brady played with the flu in sub zero weather at nite...his opening play pass to Deion to start the second half was one of the great Charlie Weis calls of all time...

still...i hope it doesn't come down to having to beat the colts and broncos on the road to get to Miami...

and if we subtract winter, Boston has a mild climate...

still what you say might happen....it might happen...but they have to do it first...and, as we all know, that's the hard part

nice response. clearly you're a welcome opposition poster.

looking forward to the big game in the Dome in November, but we both have some tough business to take care of before we get to that game. we have to go through Indy and face both the fins and jets, whom we can never take lightly.

Keep us honest.

Thanks, so are we. Your the best team we will face this season. I will tell you that the Jets D is better than Miami, and if your CS watches how we shut down the wildcat for 16 plays and 29 yards you guys will not have a problem with the Miami run plays. Colts are a hard game, no way around that one.

Forgot to add all health to your players and no injuries, and the same goes to the fans of the Patriots. We want you happy for a great game, so all love and health to you and yours, sorry slipped my mind.

One thing that Peyton is really excelling at this year is scoring with very little time left in the half. I mean a fg drive with :35 on the against the 49ers.(If TfB could've done that a couple years ago....)
And the work they did against Miami was pretty impressive. Their D got ran over, but the offense made the most of every opportunity it seemed.

The Saints offense, otoh, just seems to keep pressing. They have a lot of weapons, and seem to be able to attack different levels of the defense. Even when Brees is sacked, he comes back firing, and their offense stays aggressive.

I hope the Pats offense is more explosive and in sync when these games roll around.

I guarantee you we will steal a page from how your safeties were utilized. Love that slant blitz out of fake man coverage.
