Safety Duron Harmon Re-Signed to 4-year, $20 mil deal

This is a good signing. Neither McCourty or Chung are spring chickens and Harmon is one injury away from playing 3 downs every drive.

Way to harsh my mellow, man...

Haha, sorry buddy. It's still true though. He already plays a lot and is ready for prime time should the need arise.

It seems like he always gets the game sealing INT.

Right now the team needs a RB, a couple DE's, and a couple LB's, and is still sitting on $15-20mm.

Id imagine they'll address the need for RB in the draft since its supposed to be really deep at that position.. hope they bring in at least 1 veteran DE and Hightower.. that would make my free agency complete!

Great signing. Harmon's a good center-fielder, and he allows Patricia to use McCourty and Chung on match-ups while he covers the back-end.

50% of defensive snaps is easily worth $5m/year - just imagine if we were talking about a pass-rusher who played half the snaps...

This secondary looking phenomenal, Ryan is the one we could afford to let go. Always the one getting burned and giving up big plays.

If they hold on to Butler it's impressive

The more I think about it, there is no way in hell Malcolm remains a Patriot.
Well yes and no at the same time. Even if he goes you honestly shouldn't get that upset because that means we got an absolute stud on offense in exchange. And knowing that Gronk is a toss up health wise you can never have enough stars to bear that load in his absence. Cooks is the real deal and just needs to naturally mature but when he does, look out.....

Exactly. Not after all of this. Butler for Cooks will happen imo

I don't expect Malcolm to be any less professional and do his job or behave as Collins was rumored to have acted. However...

I think with that lessoned learned and playing the same position as a guy who just got $40m guaranteed and he is making much less after two ProBowl seasons with the team that gave you a shot, I can completely understand how he might have a bit of a problem with BB.

At the end of the day Malcolm is an asset and has a ton of value and is under the Patriots control.

Such is life.

I wanted this move but thought Harmon would bolt to be a starter somewhere (and rightfully so). But I'm glad they got it done. Branch, Harmon, Gillmore, I'm betting High, and Allen already? Yeah, I'm liking FA so far. Call me crazy, but I'm expecting LEGIT news of Hightower signing soon.

I don't get upset with players departing. I'm too old now.

I will miss Malcolm though. Love that kid.

If Malcolm is traded and the Pats get Cooks, I'm ok with it.

Chung is dung and I'd rather have Angie Harmon.

Regardless, he should be in the Pats HOF for the pick alone

Yeah don't get me wrong if you give me the choice of Butler or Cooks there is only one clear winner. At the same time though, Cooks takes away the sting of losing Butler if it were to happen.

Harmon put his signature where his mouth was. Said he really liked it here and wanted to come back because it was a great place.

He did and probably got a very good salary for him as a player. Win win.

Far different than Marty Bennett amongst the others that say stuff then say peace. I'd add in Branch to that list with Harmon.

Some players just seem to get "it". Others, not so much.

Absolutely. I don't see any way Butler shouldn't feel slighted. But it's a business after all. He'll get his somewhere...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. I wish as a Patriot. I would love to watch Butler every Sunday for three or four years. I'm hoping still that something can happen, but it sounds like the relationship is strained at this point and Butler has dug in his heels.
