Safety Duron Harmon Re-Signed to 4-year, $20 mil deal

Harmon put his signature where his mouth was. Said he really liked it here and wanted to come back because it was a great place.

He did and probably got a very good salary for him as a player. Win win.

Far different than Marty Bennett amongst the others that say stuff then say peace. I'd add in Branch to that list with Harmon.

Some players just seem to get "it". Others, not so much.

@QuantumMechanic

Of course you disgaree. You are all about players and agents putting their clients in worse situations just for a bit more coin. Or players that say one thing and do another.

Either you are an agent, or don't understand what sport is all about. Regardless you have proven that you are one of the culprits in why good players languish on bad teams and most never sniff a playoff game, never mind a championship.

I've been looking at him as a James Sanders 2.0

I know a lot of fans thought he was slow and not very flashy, but he was an integral part of our defense for years. This is a very important under-the-radar type signing.

Harmon won a lot of the games I attended with a last minute interception.

QM is one the "culprits"? So QM is responsible for players putting money over rings? Wow! I did not know QM had this power over NFL players.

He signed because we were the only bidder. We could have had him for vet min. Utterly replaceable player. He plays a lot of snaps, yeah, but he's a jag. Bad signing. Rather them play a rookie or vet min jag and give his money to bennett.

Ridiculous post.

I'm sure a 1yr/$800k deal with a $40k signing bonus would have locked up Harmon....

Part of the problem, yeah. It's insidious and has been for years. Little players vs the big bad owners. There is some truth to that for sure, but it has been blown up over the years.

Deion Branch was the first that I really recall. I remember a couple of things. One, he was delusional and wanted to be paid as an elite number one receiver like Moss etc. Right. Secondly, the fans and media all said, " good for him! He's taking a stand against the big bad Patriots!".

Shoots himself out of town and gets "paid" in Seattle. He's completely miserable there, and was paid way above his value. Eventually, lands back here and if I remember, states basicsally I wish I had never left. Yeah, no kidding Deion. Yet so many pundits and fans and agents are so misguided that they can't see what's best for a player. It happens all the time and it's horrible.

Money isn't always what's best for a player. How that is hard for people to see ifs quite stunning. I mistakenly thought that was a fairly obvious idea.

As mentioned good signing considering Isa Abdul-Quddus was just put on IR and the Dolphins need a safety now.

How was Deion delusional about his worth if he was paid top-end WR money?

I don't recall Deion being miserable in SEA. He was hurt. Could have happened here.

I think this is a great move by the Pats.. Harmon, McCourty, Chung is a solid group of safeties..

I would say much better than solid. Has to be one of the best groups in the league. Harmon would start as a FS on many teams, McCourty is a star player, and Chung is great in coverage for a SS.

To complete the picture

...and those back-end hits I bet are all salary based with very little dead money associated with them.

I thought he would have commanded more.

What a deal for NE

Bargain. Shows respect from both sides.

Harmon offers so much. But he knows Pats system helps him a lot. Good boy.

Agree completely. Smart stable secondary, they need to keep working on the front seven but the backfield looks exceptional.

You go right on pretending you know better than the players who actually put their bodies on the line what's best for them. I only hope you have the chance to expound on the matter to an actual NFL player so he can laugh in your face.

BWAH-HA-HA-HA!!!
If only you knew the true extent...
