Rohrwasser cut

I think the idea is if you draft a kicker in the 5th round, he better be good enough to stick on your team and be amazing.
Pretty much. Most draft analysis didn’t even have this guy as a draft prospect. He was someone you could have gotten in UDFA or the 7th at most. For his position and what he was, it was a giant reach that you really only do if you are all in on the kid. Anyways it’s telling which people are lashing out the most over this and trying to derail the thread.

The Ghost was a 4th round pick, 14 years as a Pat, that is a great pick! It wouldn't suprise me if BB drafted a kicker with one of his ten picks this year. Oddly enough Memphis (the Ghost alma mater) has a good kicker coming out in this draft, Riley Patterson.

Roschold, Rochford, whatever his name is, was a huge reach and an awful pick.

Should have taken Hot Rod!

BB needs a kicker until the 2025 draft when this kid will be available....

Maybe it wasn't a reach at all but planned. Maybe Bill saw this tatted kid, decided to grab him before anyone else, stashed him away for a year, then cut his ass knowing he'd be done and never play in the NFL to save the league's reputation from this flawed individual.

No wonder Bill got the Medal of Freedom. Lol

I’m still surprised Blankenship wasn’t one of the kickers drafted last year when he was the best kicker in college at the time and the consensus top prospect at the position. Looking at it now I keep seeing him and Bass in the top 2-3 of every list.

Last year Bovada had betting odds on who would be the first kicker drafted, and listed 10 kickers. Guess which kicker wasn’t listed.

I wonder if BB went to the sportsbook and put down a few grand on Rohrwasser! That would explain the pick You figure he would have gotten at least +6600!

The problem with the pick is what other team was even drafting this guy? let alone in the 5th? 3 kickers drafted and youre telling me the guys who werent were significant downgrades from this guy? It was such an outrageous reach because at the time they didnt have any insurance policy at the position. Thank god this season we seem to have very little holes, hopefully we don't see the usual BB reaches because of this

This has less to do with politics than the reality is that it gives the Dummy Squad just one more stupid thing to complain about.

Here's the point.

Kickers decide many games so it you think you can hit on an exceptional one......a 5th round pick is well worth it. If it doesn't work...zero harm.

Kickers are like closers and hockey goalies.....they tend to be whacko's who can flip on a moments notice.

What kind of idiot does it take to sit here in March with free agency on and the draft coming to sit on this thread moaning and complaining about a "wasted" 5th round pick on a wild card position.

(Actually, it looks like just about every Dummy Squader has "opined")

I agree with everything you say, except that it there was an attempt to derail this thread and make go down the road of "closed for further comment"...

The reality is that at best the whole NFL draft is at best a "crap shoot" there are 7 rounds of guessing who will do well for your team and their overall value..

We might be at the point where having threads go political may be a lot less caustic.

You probably will see some reaches as it is what he does, some times he hits and sometimes he misses.. keep in mind though that Rohrwasser was the 159th pick so there was not a lot involved.. I have not had a problem with this pick, when it took place and the current cutting of Rohrwasser. It is what it is NFL football.

With this poster there is a history, and my choice was to avoid that road as that is usually how threads get closed for further comment.

The Waterpipe = One of Little Billy Notgoat's very, Very Worst draft picks Ever; and it has Less Than Zero to do with tattoos.

This obviously was a horrendous pick by Belichick at the time and it only looks worse now. Still Jordan Richards was Belichick's worst draft pick ever and there are a lot of candidates for that title.

Maybe it was Duke Dawson

Blankenship? He could have been signed as a UDFA. He took this kid over Tyler Johnson and Peoples-Jones when there was a massive, glaring need at the WR position. That’s what should blow your mind, my friend.
Why? Those guys woudn't have gotten to 300 + yards receiving in New England last year... They would have been looked at as just a couple more wasted mid to late round wr draft picks made by BB

Sometimes BillB makes stupid draft selections.... This was one of them.

You serious, Clark?

with cam newton under center?

you really have to ask that question?
Sure. Meyers had a good year. Why couldn’t either one of those two? Johnson was basically the 5th/6th wideout on that Tampa team and was productive in the amount of snaps he got. Peoples-Jones only started two games and hauled in over 300 receiving yards. Both would have had bigger roles here. Especially once Edelman went down.
