Rodgers in talks with Jets [UPDATE: 'It's my intention to play for the Jets']

I haven’t heard of any other team besides the jets perusing AR, makes you wonder.

Weren't there rumors of Carolina trying last year?

I assume the Jets are the only one who offered the Packers close to what they want this year and the Packers have given only the Jets permission to talk to Rodgers.

Or maybe Rodgers is only interested in the Jets.

No idea about last year, I’m talking this bout this year. I heard the jets and nobody else.

Right. But I think there were probably a few teams talking to the Packers. But the Packers would take the best offer and only allow one team to talk to Rodgers. It wouldn't make sense for the Packers to let multiple teams to talk to Rodgers, unless the trade compensation was the same.

I find that hard to believe he only wants to play for the jets, just my opinion.
One would ass-ume that his home-town 49ers would be his first choice, if they could afford him…

I mean, he is a diva who wants to be catered too and the Jets do not have the strongest leadership so they are likely to give him everything he wants.

Rodgers is not about winning, he is about Rodgers.
Just like he stated a few weeks ago, he thinks he can win another MVP. Thats his priority, not changing the perception that he chokes in playoff games.

Exactly.

Rodgers will put Rodgers in the best position to achieve what Rodgers want.

I also think he is an attention whore who will enjoy the media opportunities NY provides... but I think he is a dumbass who lives in his own head and does not realize that, as soon as he chokes in a big game, the NY media will obliterate him and all aspects of his weird lifestyle.

To summarize it all, he is a little narcissist *****.

You're right. With all the talk about the Jets being a superbowl contending team and all, there is a BETTER team on the left coast that is in dire need of a QB. Yet SF is never mentioned as a Rodgers landing spot. You'd think they'd be clamoring to talk to him.

It makes you wonder why Miami is the all the talk about Brady's unretirement team, when SF would be the perfect landing spot. They would be a BIG superbowl favorite with Brady, and it would be a team where Brady wouldn't have to carry the load, like he did in TB last season.

BTW- don't be surprised to see the price for a trade of Rodgers isn't as high as you'd expect, give his huge contract and cap implications. I'd expect it to be something like the Farve compensation, which was something like a conditional fourth through first depending on playing time and how far the team got. IIRC the Packers wound up with a 3rd after Farve got hurt later in the season

It might not be as big as we think, but it'll be big. The Jets are willing to overpay for him and the Packers must know that.

I know we all enjoy mocking the jets but Rogers on that team makes them highly formidable. We should be careful what we wish for.

True but he is going to be 40 this year and has thrown for less yards (yr 2022) then he ever has while playing 16-17 games. He also threw 12 INT's...something he hasn't done since 2008 when it was his 1st season as a starter. QB rating was 91%....lowest in his career. The decline has begun.
