Red Sox 2024

The young pitchers do seem to be better than we thought. Keep fingers crossed.

I've certainly gone in to seasons with lower expectations than this one but I can't recall many where I started with less enthusiasm. Ownership had come pretty close to turning me off so the start is a pleasant surprise, even if it proves a fleeting one. In addition to sitting on their wallets when it comes to players not extending Cora's contract is baffling

Seems like some new additions might surprise. Really hoping Casas becomes a better hitter. I feel as thou he’s on the cusp..

Yep, some interesting young players a good pitching coach and one of the better managers in the game today. Can you feel the trap about to spring? I can

Story is out and will require surgery on his shoulder. Damn, this was such a great acquisition until it wasn't

Tease, show promise, disaster, heartbreak and repeat. It's is beginning to smell a bit like Chris Sale Part Duh with Story.

Ya, hopefully it ain’t on us !!!

Is it wrong to believe the Sox 5'8" $18mill/yr LFer (who doesn't play LF and therefore DHs despite minimal power) Masataka Yoshida is a bust?

Probably too soon to say that.
But disappointing? Absolutely.
If he plays like he did in the 2nd half of last year, again this year, then he's 100@% a bust.

Saux:
Tied for 1st in "Most Errors" category (16 E's in 14 games)
Last in Fielding %

do we have a list of players who are not currently hurt. shesh

looks like we wont be making the WC? Not sure we have enough in the tank to get in. This team certainly exceeded expectations

This season has been such a roller coaster. In spring training most thought they would be terrible and at the bottom of the division. Then they basically treaded water until about 6 weeks before the all star break when they started playing well and beating some good teams but I think a lot of wind left the sails when they didn't really add anyone notable at the trade deadline. Tanner Hauk came back to earth, the injuries, and a tougher schedule seemed to help the water find its level.

They need starting pitching.
Ironic that the best starter in MLB this year is Chris Sale.
If he's still here, they're probably in the playoffs.
Can't really blame them for trading him given all the injurues BUT we all heard heading into spring training that he was finally healthy- you'd think after all they invested in him they would've done their homework better on his condition.
He's gonna, win the NL Cy Young..

Chris Sale turning into a pumpkin when he got here only to become a stud again is just painful.

Used to be a die hard fan but fatherhood sapped all the Red Sox fandom out of me. Took my kid to his first baseball game at Fenway tonight, and WOW that was a gem by Bello. Didn't think the spawn was gonna last more than 3 innings, but he wanted to stay for the whole game and had a blast. The wave was his favorite.

Wait there are 3 wildcards now? They actually have a shot...

Well, we got the Celtics. And they're more motivated than most Champs. Big chips on their shoulders.
And Drake Maye gives us hope. That is assuming the new regime can get the right pieces around him and Kraft stops being a Scrooge.
Red Six have a ton of young offensive talent. But they obviously need pitching.
Bello has taken some positive steps the 2nd half and his stuff is electric.
Whitlock will be back in 2025 and he was easily the best pitcher on the team before he got the surgery.
But they need more than 2. Houck is pretty good but they really need 1 stud starter- there are guys available this offseason but is Henry gonna keep being a cheap bastard?
Kenley Jansen might retire so probably need at least one bullpen stud. And several of the best are free agents. So again, it comes down to Henry not being a miser as usual. I'm skeptical
