0:22-0:27 - - I hope BB isn't leaning where he seems to be leaning in that quote......Anyone else think it has a different meaning? HBO is kinda teasing it.

19-0 really is the last mountain to climb at this point. I hope he reaches for it.

He better not but I highly doubt we would purposely lose a game just to avoid 16-0, and I don't think it would be good for the morale of the lockeroom if we are 14-0 with the top seed lock and just bench starters in years past we always kept our foot on the gas and I don't see that changing.

    Xmas on Dec 10th.

I just hope it's as good as it could be. I want a nice mix of x & o's, war stories & philosophy/approach from everything in terms of dealing/teaching certain players to in game/season adjustments.

I don't think he was at all implying he would act differently in the future, just pointing out the obvious that there's more pressure when you haven't lost yet.

After 2007, there was much talk in the media, and I seem to recall some of the Pats themselves (after the season) intimating that as the season went on, the psychological weight of what they were achieving was hitting them harder and harder.

I just think that this team is a far more veteran bunch. Many more of these guys have played in Super Bowls. Several have been through Deflategate. The '07 team was far more innocent - - that was really the first year that the Pats became national villains. By now, these guys know the package they live in with this franchise - - every story and made-up story is thrown at them every week these days.

I just think they have a tougher, thicker skin and can handle the psychological pressure better than the 07'ers. JMHO.

Dunno, the '07 team was filled with veterans like McGinest, Bruschi, Vrabel, Harrison, Seau, etc.... I think they handled it very well...just a play short...

I was thinking the same thing after all the bs the last couple years the undefeated "pressure" should be a yawn.

    Two thoughts:

    2019 overconfidence?
    With that OL?

    and

BB telling the truth in an interview?

I think losing Neal early and Brady being dinged up had a lot more to do with them losing than the pressure of being undefeated. I don't doubt that they felt pressure but they were still in a position to win and just needed one play or call by the refs to pull it off. The 2016 team got the crucial holding call so they were a team without quit while the 2007 did not get the call and they could not handle the pressure. Narratives are easy to write once the season is over.

I'd love them to go undefeated but I honestly do not see it with all the holes on the OL. Feels more like 13-3 or 14-2 and a 1 seed and another AFCCG.

My first guess would have been he said 'it would have been better to lose one along the way' because it makes you more introspective (self analyze your weaknesses) rather than that it lowers the psych pressure.
I thought that year that Tb was getting too reliant on chucking it to randy and stopped going to the first open read. Self analysis might have fixed that.

The Colts and Packets both had undefeated teams late in the season and lost. (Colts to rest their players) They both took advantage of the reduced pressure by going one and done in the playoffs.

Not to have a loser mentality or anything, and I do think calling 19-0 would be an amazing achievement, but I have to admit I’m feeling a bit relieved not having to deal with it/talk about it anymore. Just being a team playing for a Super Bowl suddenly feels like a day in the park.

It does take that “going undefeated” pressure but losing like this does suck real bad. I’m not too depressed about it as we’ve had bad stretches of play before and worked it out.

Oh yeah...winning is better. And it was what, a 13 game winning streak? That’s a lot.

The mental/emotional aspect of this game is always undervalued. Many fans think it’s just about stacking talent and the team with the most always wins.

Things like 28-3 don’t happen without the mental aspect playing a huge part. The Falcons didn’t suddenly lose all their talent, they were defeated mentally. Momentum is a real thing and blowouts/comebacks occur because of mental breakdowns.

Complacency is a dangerous thing, it will take down the strongest of us. I think the Boogeymen got a taste of it last night. It is such a fine line between confidence and arrogance. It’s like walking a tightrope. Fortunately Belichick has been able to find the perfect formula more often than not.

I hope it stings for the next two weeks. Better now than in February.

Agree with the overall point, but in the case of the Falcons I think it was exhaustion more than anything else.

I agree, it was a great win streak. I’m still sure they’ll pull off 14 or so
