Third String But Playing on Special Teams
Like I said, blaming the OL isn't credible when you see much worse ones out there, yet their QBs are performing.

View attachment 47582

Blaming the OC (though he sucks) isn't credible because as Mac stated himself, the O was revised as a collaborative effort taking Mac's input into account. Mac wanted to be let out of the training wheels and show what he could do with concepts he likes. Despite him coming into camp w/ less body fat & training w/ QB throwing guru, he's failed to perform, mainly due to his own limitations. This doesn't mean he can't grow into a better QB but asking for the training wheels to be put back on isn't the answer.
Would love to see another offense right now comparably to ours.. if you can pull up that chart?

Not sure what you're looking for, but below is 1st & 2nd down offense efficiencies. Chart speaks for itself.

Like @RobertWeathers said, our run game has not been good recently. A lot of it is the OL run blocking.

Here we go again. This "let's find fault with Mac Jones because I like Bailey Zappe" campaign wore thin long ago.

The OL was comparatively settled vs. Cleveland and Detroit, two of the league's worst defenses at the time New England played them. Zappe was scripted from a pared-down playbook. He did a great job while the Patriots defense did its job in support. So how do you think Mac would have performed against those teams? And by the way, Mac just a few days ago had a 104.6 passer rating vs. the Jets, a top-10 ranked defense with arguably the best front seven in football.
You don't understand, if BB would just put Zap in the o-line would become the five blocks of granite, h Henry and j Smith would become the second coming of Gronk and Russ Francis, the receivers would resemble Randy Moss, Edelman, and Jerry Rice. All males in the stands would have an erection and all females would ovulate. The war in Ukraine would end along with inflation etc. Thats how good Zapp is.

Interesting take by Bedard, in the first of his breakdowns. He went over the 6 sacks and found that on 5 of them, the blame would go to others for the play's failure. Mostly Brown, Ferrentz and Cajuste for bad protection, but he damned multiple receivers like Henry who didn't have his head around when there WAS a chance to complete the pass. On the one he blamed Mac for was waiting on Herny and Stevenson to turn their heads and NOT going to Aghular or Bourne who were open on the other side. Then he backs HIS interpretation of the data with film.

BTW- I happened to notice after reading a story about Fields' shoulder separation. I couldn't help notice that he had 1642 passing yards and was treated this year (or at least after the Pats game) as the top guy from his class and a budding superstar. Yet the much maligned Mac Jones who just as quickly had gone from being the next Brady, to 'who's next"; has 1384 yds in FOUR fewer games.

Now I'm not myopic. I understand how Fields is a dynamic run threat, but the dude still can't pass in those critical moments. And when the greatest ability is your availability , his latest injury should be a cautionary tale to those teams that are willing to live or die on the back of a dual threat QB. I see a guy like Allen being the exception to the rule just because he's so damned big. When he's takes of he's going to be bigger than 90% of the guys trying to tackle him in the 2nd level. I worry about the poor 180lb DBs trying to bring him down. IIRC Jackson has only finished the season in 3 of his 5 years, and the 5th one isn't over yet for the one playoff win QB.
.

LOL Mac Jones isn't even in the same area code as Lamar Jackson. I find it interesting that posters talk **** about other NFL QBs to try to uplift Mac who has just played sh$$ty football this season. Sure I can understand there are a few excuses to be had with the sh$$ty offensive coaching of Matt Patricia and Joe Judge, but BB made his bed now he has to lie in it. You can try to polish a TURD all you want but the Patriots offense this year is still a TURD, and Mac Jones is responsible for much of that TURD product. That's not enough to let him off the hook. He needs to play better. PERIOD.

The rhetoric is fantastic, but sensationalist. Zappe has easily outplayed Mac in his opportunities this year. Mac has consistently shown he is not improving areas of concern. No one thinks that the sky is going to open up and virgins will rain down upon the football team if Zappe starts, but we do think it will give us a better chance of winning, with this awesome defense that has to now deal with so many 3 and outs from the offense.

I feel like Matty P is best served in the nick caserio role that he is also currently in. senior football advisor, let Yates continue to get the O line better , absolutely Caley should be calling plays, I just wish BB would name an actual coordinator, get with 2022 NFL standards..
If Yates was the answer the results would already be apparent.

I don't see Kraft splurging again..
And what insight or indicators would give someone that impression?

Is it the Patriots losing record...no, wait that doesn't exist.

The team has a couple actual losing seasons in a row (not "losing as defined by not entertaining enough brand of football to some percentage of the fan base") and maybe there will be recriminations by ownership, but until then there is no data that offers up dissatisfaction to the point of yanking GM duties (including contract negotiation and allocation) from the current HC.

Rank 29 - Mac Jones
New England Patriots · Year 2

2022 stats: 7 games | 68.7 pct | 1,386 pass yds | 7.1 ypa | 4 pass TD | 7 INT | 81 rush yds | 1 rush TD | 2 fumbles

New England resembles a team shotgunned to us from 1952, thrilled to win with a punishing defense, inspired special teams play and just enough on offense. Looking like a star compared to Zach Wilson, Jones pegged 23 of his 27 throws for 246 yards, by far his highest yardage output since Week 3. The result: three points, five punts, two missed field goals and a march that fizzled out on downs. This came against a formidable Jets defense, but I'm still convinced Jones -- at some stage -- was body-switched with a roofer from down the street. He's yet to look comfortable inside a stagnant, strange attack.

Wow.

The last three games for Mac's QB rating:
1. Against JETE - 80
2. Against Colts - 89
3. Against JETE - 105

Sure Mac is not great, but he is accurate and getting better game to game. You think we should judge QBs after 1.5 seasons?

What is an XFL level?

If our OL could reliably pass protect, this team would be clicking. That’s really what needs to be solved. But easier said than done. Not healthy and weren’t playing that well when they had health.

Has there ever been a worse “contract year“ than what Isaiah Wynn is barfing up this year? It would not surprise me if he never played again, not for the Pats or anyone else. He just seems done with football.

Not excusing Mac at all but this guy has created problems for them all year, and the fact that it hasn’t been rectified says a lot about how poor of a job has been done by the coaching staff. They brought in Cannon because clearly Cajuste doesn‘t have it, had to dump Herron for the same reason, had no one else viable coming out of camp, and now they’re benching Brown? This is why I simply look at this year as a bridge year and hope that the offensive coaching staff is overhauled starting in January.

What would you expect a 2nd year QB to have as far as TD's and INT's?

People here are saying Fields wilson lance can not throw a Football, so they can be judged after 1.5 years sure

Mac had a high completion percentage because he throws a 5 yard pass to a rb or short passes to wr
I don’t see him hitting deep or throws to the outside, because or his Limitations

But my main point was not Mac, it was the designed offense by the Coaching staff as well as the play calling which would held any offense back
