Ravens

The 2009 and 2012 Pats were better than the 2009 and 2012 Ravens.

No they weren't.

The 09 Patriots were never even close to a SB contending team...and certainly playoff fodder without Welker...They were not really much of a "team" at all for that matter...they were exposed as nothing more than a soft collection of malcontents and unmotivated individuals. And the 2012 Patriots defense while not the dumpster fire that it was in 2011 - it was still pretty bad. They were weak opposition to the Ravens especially without the services of their best CB and without Gronk for a big chunk of that game.

Now sure the Pats could lose their first game, even to the Ravens. I think the OL needs to be better for sure. I guess I just don't get the logic that we need to brace ourselves for another loss to them....because 5 years ago and 2 years ago!1!1! The past is the past, this is a different team and so are they. All this hand wringing feels like Red Sox fan talk pre 2004...

The guy I quoted said the Pats were better, the Pats were better than the teams who beat them in 13, 12, 11, 1o, 09, 07 was my point.

13 - they were better than the Broncos? lol
12- disagree
11 - the defense was a flaming garbage fire... they weren't beating the Giants without a defense
10 - agreed
09 - disagree
07 - agreed although there were other factors that week that didn't help either

I never said the best team always wins (if they did there would be no 2001 SB), just that the best team wins most of the time. And the Pats are better than the Ravens this year without a doubt. So bring em on. I want to see the Pats clown stomp them.

And besides... if they can't even beat an inferior Ravens team at home then they never belonged in the SB conversation.

Ravens should be easy to beat. Steelers tough.

The ravens are a pretender. However I will state that of the three possible teams we will face they are the one I would least like to face, but that's more because of how one dimensional the colts are and how Andy Dalton the bengals are. Still though if the patriots put revis on but job Smith and browner/McCourtey on other Smith then flaco won't be able to do anything but hand the ball.

One of them was a hail mary into the end zone with 4 seconds left from midfield before OT. Hardly the defense forcing Brady into an INT.

Ok you win, BAL sucks and Brady will not struggle against them.

God damn you are so stuck on pretending the facts don't exist.

I said we will beat BAL, so cut the whining.

All I said in that context was that we were better in 09 and 12 but got our ass whooped and most agree. I never said we will lose this year, I just said 41-7 is a joke we will struggle and win by a FG if anything.

I'm not attacking you. If it feels that way, I apologize. I suspect we have more in common than not fanwise. I just don't understand why fans around here have this Calvinist/Catholic guilt (before anyone goes politically wild here I'm a product of both Catholic and public schools) about enjoying our teams and their success. Why does it always have to be mirrored by dinks like Shaughnessy and Borges and Tanguay and Felger who have this dark, pessimisic, gloomy viewpoint on a perpetual basis? All of the empirical evidence of the last 15 years contradicts their douchbaggery, but fans who love to wallow in their negativity and pessimism seem to love to agree with them. Well, it's BS, and if you want to wallow with them, be my guest.. But, don't attack me for calling you out on it.

I can really respect your post.

I was ****y for the past 15 years, sorry but I am done being ****y, I think BAL and NY has our number and if that makes me a bad fan I really don't care, especially when those who call me out barely make noise at NE they don't get rowdy and won't in two sundays, but that is offensive? Well now you guys know how it feels to attack a real fan just because he sees BAL as a team that will make us struggle.

You say dark, gloomy, pessimist etc. but I have NE over GB in a SB rematch how is that gloomy? All I said was BAL is going to shut down our run game, have all day to run and pass, Brady will get hit and throw picks etc....we win but we win very close, that is my opinion and IDC what anyone here says.

2009 Patriots werent that good. Just a product of Belichick coaching and Brady carrying them.

2012. Pats didn't have Gronk and then Talib tapped out. Game was 14-13 in going into the 4th. Ravens scored to make it 21-13 with 14 min left. On the ensuing Pats drive Ridley gets knocked out and fumbles, setting Ravens up in Pats terrority and they score. Game was a bit closer then the score indicates Pats just unfortunately didn't have their best offensive player not named Brady and their best defender left in the 2nd quarter.

I watched the game buddy, stop acting like I didn't, we got whopped.

Injuries are a part of the game.

Not whining. And no we were absolutely not the better team in either of those games as I already explained. This year we are the better team. Facts are facts.

And even if we were better back then , so what? What does that have to do with this year?

And who predicted the Pats would win a rematch 41-7?

I was kinda shook up about the prospects of hosting Baltimore, but this thread has convinced me otherwise. One thing I do want to express though is that 41-7 game wasn't the cake walk you all make it out to be. If I remember correctly we got out to a 20-0 lead pretty quickly, then had a hard time moving the ball for a bit. They made it 20-7, then got a key stop and began driving again. For some reason, I think we picked off Flacco and that started an avalanche of points, but it wasn't the standard 41-7 thrashing you make it out to be. No chicken little syndrome, just my memory of that game.

Off the top of my head (and I can go to verify this later), I don't believe Brady exceeded 200 yards passing in that game either.

Not that I necessarily disagree with you, but why are you so combative lately? Everything okay outside the message board? And I'm not being a smart ass. I'm being serious.

Your post was fine. Mr. Sunshine is just a super optimist and attacks anyone who is not it seems. His first post was an unnecessary personal attack.

I agree the Ravens would be menacing.

I recall Ridley getting blasted!! Sucked. Took the life right out of the Pats. Why was it not helmet to helmet?

Not only that, but the ball came out when he hit the ground. Down by contact.

Dutch you should probably take a break from the site for a few days. You seem to be extremely on edge and you are embarrassing yourself in nearly every thread you post in. Get your head together and come back.
