Rapoport: Pats making signing Bennett a high offseason priority

Then id move on would much rather build the defensive line and linebacking corps then pay a over achieving DB huge money.
You would think the fact we made this kid and gave him a chance to be a superbowl hero then had faith to make him a number 1
That he would sign for a team friendly number.
He made himself a hero by hard work, he's a top corner in the league and young, you don't let a guy like that walk.

LOL no I enjoy all kinds of what if's its my favorite part of football is the roster construction.
Trading Tom Brady should not be in your realm of playing with rosters.

I wonder if they plan on doing an adjustment to Gronk's contract as well, because he may not be a good little soldier anymore if Bennett is getting a bigger salary than him

Bennett won't get more than Gronk, I think 18 for three with 10 up front is likely. That may not be enough but I don't see them going much higher than that, and I'm a big fan.

I bet people misfortune enough to listen to the Sports Hub tomorrow will be treated to non stop Gronk will be traded talk from 2-6 tomorrow.

Misfortune? Are there that many people bound and gagged in the back of cars moving at high speed, being forced to listen to Boston sports radio?
What are the State Police doing?!?!

Agree but will be a sad day when time and hundreds of hard hits catch up to je11. One of my all-time favorite players to watch. tough. quick. very underated. hes been a top 10 nfl receiver for several years. despite what other issues the pats have had-they stand a chance of having a healthy brady, gronk, edelman, bennet, lewis, blount and hogan heading into the playoffs. That would be the best Pats offense of all time-better than "07 imo. and teams wont be prepared for it-because theyll be cautious with hogan and will limit lewis' reg. season work-so the playoffs will be the1st time teams will face this.(licking chops)

Dear god, the 2016 offense is NOT better than 07. 07 was arguably best of all time offense. That was a special team. The 07 offense broke every record in the book. How many records has the 16 team offense broke?

Bennett is going to be very happy here as he has been so far. I am sure a deal gets done.

Belichick is not afraid to pay big money for character guys. Hope Sheard is listening.

Who said it was? You must have flunked reading comprehension. Reread the post.

"sources" say... I bet This is coming from Bennet's agent in an effort to pressure the Pats....
Yeah, just like the team was trying to reach an extension before the season with Revis in 2014.

Edit: Just noticed dude is wearing a NASA hat, lmao. Wtf?

The team was. Revis wasn't interested.
Maybe. Maybe not. I don't trust a word from the media. They are wrong fairly often.

Color me skeptical that Belichick is trying to hand out long term mega deals before a game is even played.

The 07 offense slowed down at the end of the year. I think this offense might not be as explosive but is more diverse and essentially harder to stop. They might not put up 50 points but they have more weapons that can put up 30-35 points a game. I think this offense if it stays healthy will be harder to stop in the playoffs.

3 good backs
4 good wide outs
2 great tight ends

A decent O line. They can beat you a lot of different ways. And hopefully they get even more diverse as the season moves along.

Really curious what the thoughts were behind that tweet.

I tried looking and he posts these types of Tweets on a regular basis. Sort of like a motivational daily thing. I found this particular one interesting because of 1) the timing and 2) the news we learned yesterday.

We know they've communicated to him they want to work on something before this news, but I wonder if before we knew they were *really* serious they gave him a nod. Just thinking out loud.
