This feels like a disaster. In what universe do you hire a coach before an effing GM????Absolutely awful to not even conduct a search. Absolutely awful to hire a coach without even having a GM.
Hopefully I’m wrong, but I think we are in for a long 5-10 years.
Congrats to the anti-Belichick mafia on here: you got what you wanted; now you’re going to get what you deserve.
Actually they’re pretty similar. Mike was a linebacker on the 1985 bears defense. Jerod was a linebacker on our Super Bowl teams. Singletary got fired after 2 years and coached high school and proceeded to win only 1 game in 2 yearsI understand the concern, but Mayo and Singletary are not really comparable coaching prospects.
I’ll give him 2 years until he’s goneThis feels like a disaster. In what universe do you hire a coach before an effing GM????
Ever hear of Babe Dahlgren? Me either....he's the guy who replaced Lou Gehrig. On 9/22/2001, Mo Lewis ended Drew Bledsoe's day and a little known QB jogged to the huddle. From our seats in section 115 (i think), I turned to my Dad and said "Well, let's see how this guy does." I am going to take the same approach with Mayo. I am not going to ***** how I hate the move, nor celebrate the second coming of ************. Time will tell.

How could it not be? You dont foist a head coach onto a new external GM.I’m fine with it as long as the GM isn’t internal too
With that same approach the Texans would have not drafted Stoud or not hired Ryans.a rookie QB with a rookie HC, what can go wrong?
It's Elliot Wolf. Curran already reported that. So it's internal - the guy who's run the last 2 drafts
I think he gets 3 if he's badI’ll give him 2 years until he’s gone
Only way they do that immediately is if Wolf also has an automatic promotion clause for Bill's departure like Mayo did. Otherwise the Krafts are beholden to the Rooney Rule.GM is in house already, boys.
I feel like people aren't getting that Bill was fired as GM more than as head coach. The odds Mayo is a better tactician out of the gate than Bill is zero, but that's not why Bill was fired. It was so someone else could be GM and get some goddamn talent, especially on offense.
If they hire an internal GM it was probably whoever Bill vetoed to keep taking defense and special teams jamokes in the last draft.
Of course it can. 4 wins, 2,5,6,8 is all the same thing. Can't get worse than 4 wins fam
I'd be okay if they end up being a 8-9 or 9-8 team next seasonI'm not wild about it but...as a wise man once said, it is what it is.
At this point, all I can do it wait and see. I dint expect them to go 11-6 and make they playoff next season but I expect not to have the worst offense (or even bottom third) next year with the D staying more or less the same, if not better. (And, you know, a better overall ST operation).
The only thing we can do I hope for the best.
