Raiders ready to give Mcdaniels full power? Reputable source?

Mayo is taking every interview he can.
I guess he doesn’t feel he can get Bills favor over his son.

He is wise.

That and becoming a HC is a process. Gotta get your name out there and create a buzz and get exposure. Owners and GMs talk. Plus it's great experience for him.

Has he even been asked to interview?

If McD is offered full control, he would be crazy not to take the job with Vegas.
Not a slam dunk. Owner is a meathead, team has sucked a long time and not exactly loaded with talent, and a guy who REPORTEDLY has prioritized where his family lives may have second thoughts about making Vegas home.

That said, there are few perfect opportunities.

Why would he turn down a HC interview?
All this implies is that he isn’t an idiot.

Mayo interviewed with the Eagles last off-season. Usually, there’s a significant pay increase as well as contract length increase going from an assistant coach even a coordinator to a HC

This what many miss in mentioning McDaniels for every HC opening. Reportedly, he is currently being paid at the same level as a HC by the Patriots, and I can’t imagine any other assistant in the NFL has the job security he has. He’s also 45 and knows his current HC didn’t get the job that launched him to a HOF coaching career until he was 48.

The idea has been broached that LV may offer Ziegler the GM job and he may bring McD with him. I know BB likes to hire familiar faces. How about Pioli and BOB? Just a thought.

FWIW, I live in houston, and while we always hear crap about coaches, the degree of hate, vitriol, and pure venom again BoB was mind-boggling. I've never seen a city so glad to get rid of someone. Hard pass!

I should add that Jack Easterby is rapidly climbing in the hate rankings.
Easterby is such a slimy dirtbag. It’s crazy to think of him and Alex G. being involved with the franchise we all love. Both are snakes. How TF was he able to jump over to Houston and climb the ranks the way he has?!

I wonder if they'll try to find somebody else to go through the motions with before hiring the guy they've had in mind all along.
Nailed it. Bowles on Thursday, so they can make real progress with Harbaugh or McDaniels after that without waiting on DeMeco Ryans.

Good...please go! I'm only scared of who would be replacing him. Maybe another one of bills kids. Whose next?

I do slightly agree with @DropKickFlutie on one thing, not using enough two tight end sets. They had two playmaker there. But I don't know if it was because JMD didn't know how to use them or because Smith just wasn't getting the offense that quickly. He never seems to be in the right position down the field and only really made plays when he got the ball behind the LOS

It is the latter. Smith wasn't with it this season. I don't think that Smith learned the offensive play book. All he did was block. McDaniels did well with Gronk and Hernandez as double tight ends.

Seems they want to go GM then coach.

Joseph is the fifth known candidate to have had an interview or who will be interviewed in Las Vegas. The others are Trey Brown (Cincinnati), Ed Dodds (Indianapolis), Champ Kelly (Chicago) and Dave Ziegler (New England). Raiders’ assistant DuJuan Daniels has been connected to the job as well, but no interview news has emerged yet.
The Raiders’ search for a head coach will likely kick into high gear once the GM search is completed. The three known coaching candidates are interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, New England inside linebacker coach Jerod Mayo, and San Francisco defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.
Ryans now may become a favorite in Minnesota.

Seems JMcD is not on anyone's radar.

Zeigler/Mayo seems like it's in play, but they are still interviewing candidates.

I love Mayo, but man it seems too early, and the LV job will come with a lot of expectations since they are a playoff caliber team.

I think Josh’s name within the league is mud and this little dance every year is just a crock. Bailing on the Colts like he did doesn’t just go away.

they may have cooled on Josh or Josh on them:

"McDaniels apparently had been calling coaches around the league about putting together a staff, but it appears something happened in the last 24 hours. League sources don’t know if the issue was about compensation or the power structure in Las Vegas or both, but it seems Ziegler and McDaniels are not the leaders in the clubhouse anymore."

What does it say, if this story is true, about McD trying to put a staff together for LV.

1. Does it mean McD doesn't see an opportunity of a HC position with the Patriots?
2. Why would he bail on Mac this soon?
3. Is Little Steven the prime candidate for the future Pats HC position. If so, God help us.

This is a weird story considering there's been no known requests for interviews w/ McD.
