Predict: Surprise Trades before the start of the season.

2. If Mcourty goes down who do u got as free safety. Harmon is so undervalued. Jordan Richards is more strong safety and he kind of suck/not atlethic enough for NFL, hope that i am wrong. Dont like him

Care to elaborate? He ran in the 4.5 range and had an excellent 3-cone time (6.7 if I recall). The only really lackluster testing numbers were his jumps, and even they were serviceable. By all accounts he's extremely powerful and well-conditioned, and I like his presence on special teams. He's made some very heady plays in his young career. Think you're off base here.

I'm thinking that they'll be using the swing tackle for rotational reps again, particularly on the right side, so unless they'd play Waddle there, Cannon is going to sink or swim fairly quickly.

In other words, cross your fingers and your toes.
I am. Lol I think that's the role they wanted for Fleming, but he's just not very good.

MY LIST OF SURPRISE POSSIBILITIES

BRANCH
We have Brown and Knighton, with Kuhn and Valentine as backups. Also, Flowers has been playing inside on passing downs.

VOLLMER
I don't think that Cannon is going anywhere. Vollmer is expensive and injury prone.

He ran 4.65, 13bench reps, 32 vertical and 9 broad and really good 3cone with 6,74. that are not elite numbers especially for 2rd pick. He has smarts and he is good tackler, i dont see his numbers are good for coverage big TE, but maybe i was little harsh on him and hope that he ll contribute on this team.

If he keeps showing up on special teams like this, then he'll be okay:
Would like to see more explosion, sure, but every time I've watched him play, he seems very steady and reliable.

Surprise trades? None. That is all.

We get Hoyer back, then trade him for a 2017 1st and 2nd.

We also re-sign Malett, then trade him for a 2017 1st, a 2018 1st, and a bag of balls.
Yes, this would be a surprise.

Good thread. I personally don't think anyone valuable gets traded but if anyone does go it'll one of the upcoming FA's. Names that come to mind are Harmon, Dobson or even Logan Ryan, who does have value.

I agree with Harmon. He's very valuable but will get a big contract from somebody next year and with Jordan Richards progressing he could bring value in a trade.

It's funny, these are exactly the reasons I don't think Harmon should be traded. A starting-caliber 3rd saftey is obviously value here and now, and assuming he nabs a starter-level contract elsewhere that should get the Pats a comp pick which could equal the value of a pick they'd get for him now.

Because Cannon sucks ass. Not saying Fleming or Waddle don't, but Cannon has been downright miserable for two seasons now... and he didn't look particularly good on Thursday night. We have a real problem at that backup T spot, regardless of who we're talking about sadly.

Also, he's a "swing" tackle, but he can't play left tackle at all. I see Waddle as an improvement at a lower salary. Cannon has also failed at guard.

Have you somehow recovered the Cannon of 3-4 years ago? Also, Where you going to get an affordable huge tackle like Branch? They don't grow on trees. Branch played great last year while cannon sucked. I don't get it.

What you don't get is the meaning of the word "possibilities". I'm not recommending either action.

AJ Derby is well on the way to beating out Harbor for the 3rd TE spot. Derby is a young ascending talent and Harbor is looking like the opposite.

Dorial Green Beckham has been traded from the Titans to the Eagles.

I'm not sure why folks are so excited about moving Cannon, and having Fleming and Waddle as our backups. I suspect Scar and Bill have other ideas.
Cannon looks leaner this year.....

BB says TE is very deep and we have seen that.

We all salivate at seeing Bennett and Gronk together (much in the same way we did with Rodney and lawyer once upon a time)..........but wouldn't it be classic BB to trade Gronk?

Now there's your freaking surprise trade.

Danny Amendola

I don't want this, but with Hogan in here and Amendola not on the field, I could see it.

when I think surprise trade names like Ryan Dobson even Amendola make too much sense to be a surprise. True surprise trades are guys like Seymore, Mankins, or Lawyer. So in that vien let's say Bellicheck KNOWS Collins is looking to break the bank and play somewhere warmer so will not resign for less then 7 years 120 million with 75 gaurenteed. What would you do? I would put feelers out and get at least a first rounder. Would it suck? **** yeah but it's better then getting a 3rd two years from now. It is my opinion that BB loves LB's and TE's too much to trade any of his 4 really good ones on the roster so where else do the pats have elite talent another team would pay big to get? What would a team give up for Butler? Those other surprise trades tend to be malcontents which makes this game a little harder because all the guys I have suggested, or would SHOCK me like say Eldeman, are true team players that seem to love the environment. The last name that came to mind once I started pondering is the only surprise level player I could see happening for the right price. Solder being traded to a desperate team for a 2nd and a big depth caliber RB would make long term sense on a certain level. It would free up cap space if you are not in love with Solder as your LT of the future. Course it would kill your chances this year and so I would ***** and moan to high heaven if it happened.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them move Alan Branch, it would give them @ 2 million in cap savings. He hits like a truck and can clog up the middle, something any team could use.

Interesting suggestion.

One reason I don't see Harmon being traded is that he's likely to bring a decent comp pick if he signs somewhere else. Another reason is that it's easy to imagine CB talent (past Butler) being a problem again, with McCourty selectively lining up as a quasi-CB in another "Big Nickel". So Harmon is depth at every DB position except Butler's and Chung's.

I would never trade a CB, in the nfl, you can never have enough good corners.

After watching how well stork performed last week, I think he will beat out Andrews, but because stork gets hurt so much, we may not be able to trade Andrews.

Really hoping we can pickup a good ot at the cut down date because cannon, waddle and fleming Are jags.
