Have to find a new head coach that wants to work alongside Robyn Glazer. That is one of RK's checks and balances. That will be a buzz kill for football guys.
Easily solved, remove Glazer!

Does a HC have to be all that likable? I’m fairly certain BB wasn’t hired for his girlish coquettishness and presser ability. You’d want someone in control, with a possible mean streak. I wonder if there’s any yelling going on at halftime in the locker room by Mayo. I’d hope so..
If they aren't likeable they have to produce constantly. Bill might have gotten a freebie year or two tacked on at the end if Bob and Jonathan found him to be an amicable personality. But once he started losing he had that and him being off putting going against him.

Vrabel wasn't getting over the hump with a pretty talented team (he only won playoff games in 2019) and then they declined. Once a **** starts doing poorly, people are happy to pull the trigger on them.

Meanwhile someone like Marvin Lewis was well liked, so he could be a sort of above average coach and get chance after chance for years because people in the building wanted to see him succeed.

I'd be fine with Vrabel, Flores, McDaniels or BOB

Hiring a defensive coach would be risky because they can't afford to change offensive systems on Maye again, so they can't hire a young gun OC who will leave in a year. For that reason, I'd lean BOB, who did a good job in Houston & could win at a high level with Maye.
I don't think that we technically have an offensive system to speak of. And, considering that most of the work that's been done with Maye involves just footwork and fundamentals, he's still a moldable QB that with the right OC and system to play to his skills and compete with today's NFL Offenses would work.

I kinda wish we would take a shot at someone like Bienemy.

I know Gary kubiak is retired. Any way we get him in a john lynch type of capacity to completely revamp the org.

With his connections he might be able to get us the right HC and coordinators.

The ONLY coaching retread allowed would be SBelichick and not for HC, just DC. JMD got rather boring and predictable towards the end and me thinks he’s proven he doesn’t have IT when not with TFB and BFB. Next HC needs to be offensive minded with maybe some D xp. But definitely younger and less conservative. If Mayo’s let go of course.

Thanks for the insight on Steve Belichick... Did not know half of that...
I like to check in on him as he's been a hot topic here for many years. He's been getting some buzz since his time in Washington.
As for Goff, I have always thought of him as the guy who needed mcvay to get along... And now I think he's blossomed in Detroit... And I must admit I thought he would fail there. He's exceeded all expectations... I give credit to Ben Johnson for that... We need to at least look at him in a serious light if we do move on from, as you like to say, Jerod Tomsula this year...
Goff has done really well and nobody thought it would end up being a great situation for anybody. I think their window for a Super Bowl birth is wide open now with SF imploding.

The last part of your post I bolded gave me a chuckle. I'd have no problem with him if he was elsewhere and was a DC for a unit that was doing well. There was nothing tangible we had that pointed to him being a good HC. Steve, on the other hand, was a guy the board loved to hate (including me because of his sideline faces/nepotism) but is now proving himself elsewhere. I gave Mayo the Tomsula name because the situation is going exactly the same - loved by the Owners, not really known for anything, dirty laundry aired before Bill's firing, possible leak, questionable hire and current season a disaster. If he is fired by year 2, I don't think he lasts long in the NFL just like Tomsula. This is looking like a really embarrassing move by the Krafts. It's crazy, but I see Steve and Mayo going in opposite directions long term.

Then we hire stefanski immediately .. an offensive minded HC who can game plan and call offensive player .

There are 8 HC openings next year and we are the least desirable.

GB OC seems great... Both shanahan and mcvay influences. But will he come ?

Jeff Fisch and Longo - Drake maye ex OC should also be in consideration if we hire a defensive HC. Steve spagnuolo would be an unorthodox and stabilizing HC.

Franchise QB and ton of cap space with a stable ownership group, even if we are currently mad at RKK. Far from the worst situation.

You sure about that? Most of it will depend on how Maye looks. If he regresses, sure. But if he keeps things up, I can see a lot of coaches finding this situation much more appealing.

Compared to Josh Allen , burrow and Lawrence .. their team is more set up to excel.

We just need maye to play lights out to look like the next coming of Brady or Josh Allen for it to be desirable. At this point of time , it's trending downward due to the lack of talent and total absence of culture.

If Mayo gets canned, they need to completely move on from the Bill Belichick tree and go in a different direction. Getting a Belichick guy was my biggest issue with Mayo
May have been Bill Belichick guy by virtue of his being coached by Bill, but as a coach he is the exact opposite of Bill.

I advocated before Mayo got hired for Sarkesian at TX. Give him the keys to the whole thing, like Fairbanks. He's taken the UT program that was in complete disarray and whipped it into a top program (last Sat's results notwithstanding). He's young, energetic, creative, has vision, can manage a huge organization.
Sark probably has a higher NIL payroll at UT than the NFL's salary cap next year. Ewers will be taking a pay cut in the NFL.

I'm surprised no one has suggested Jonathan Kraft. He obviously knows more about coaching, management and leadershop than anyone.

Ben Johnson will be the crown jewel of the hire circle.
We have a chance if he falls in love with Maye.
The major difference between last year during the coaching search and this year. Landing the #1 pick also would help.

I don't think it matters as much. Whoever comes here is going to be tempered by knowing they still are on one of the least talented teams that needs a thorough rebuild for a year or two before they have any shot and will probably have some mediocre seasons where people can sour on them.

Also Maye is good so far, but we are 2 games into his career. Acting like he has some great perception that is going to last is tough to judge. If we keep losing, it tempers a lot of some of the bright spots he has. And don't forget, there's the possibility that coaching Aaron Rodgers or Josh Allen on much more talented teams is on the table for a top coach.

Lets just tank and have done with it.

Actually spending the free agent money we have, drafting wisely (including trading down and adding high pick(s) in 2026) and better coaching would make this team a contender next year.
Arguably a better job in free agency and a good coaching job would have us capable of contending this year.
Better players and coach surely would have netted us 2 more wins (including against Neville and Miami who are horrible) and we would be looking at here at home to get to the half way point at .500.

We seem far away, but most of that is management.
