You mean the D that (discounting a garbage time TD by Buffalos backups vs our backups) allowed 17 or less 6 straight weeks before Seattle?
Yeah they have really been playing like a D that would struggle to get Tom Brady to 4-3 against teams with combined records of 28-38. This board amazes me.

If you think are D has played well over all than we haven't been watching the same games.

Bryce Petty points to Madden skills as one reason for optimism

Just think, Petty is gonna have so much time to play Madden as himself vs the Pats over the bye week. You guys are so screwed!
Lol doesn't shock me. What I will say about you guys, though, is that it seems like no matter how bad you guys are, there's always at least one game every year where you give us a really hard time. Even in the butt fumble year that first matchup went into OT I believe.

Oh yeah, that's true. But this year may be different. It'll take a lot to get this team motivated again. The only hope of that I think would be one of the young QBs showing some potential.

We'll see. Not holding my breath though. Not that I know/think Petty and Hackenberg are bad, more so that the CBA limits practice too much. Fitz and Geno have gotten like 95% of the practice reps over the last two seasons. It's asking a lot from the youngin's to come in and provide a spark. Chances are it's gonna be ugly for a while.

The Pats D played well in the Houston game - a game were Collins looked like Lawerence Taylor. Other than that, the D has benefited greatly from poor play by the opposing team. In the Buffalo game, they missed some really easy passes that would have kept drives alive or been scores. Seattle made those throws and you saw the result. There is no confidence in this defense - by the coaching staff. None. And I don't think they know what else to do.

The scariest statement came from Belichick himself, who said the guys are woking as hard as they can and doing all that they can do. That should scare everyone and tells you all you need to know about this defense.

They were 10-0 last year. Fanboys thought 15-1, 14-2 worst case.. What happened? Belichick tried to outsmart everyone Vs Philadelphia, had worst game plan Vs Miami and rest went down in flames at denver

I think the two toughest games we have left are @Denver and @Miami. Could we lose other games, sure, but I also think we could win the Denver and Miami game if we play the way we are capable of playing. If I had to guess, I'd say we probably lose one more game.

My guess is we end up 12-4 and it will be at least good enough for a 1st round bye.

Fair conservative pick is 12-4.
1 loss @den or @ mia
1 stinker loss to bal or the easy teams

13-3 is more likely imo unless the defense plays more games like sunday or another rash of injuries.

The Jets, the Jets are a potential loss... either here or there in NY. This is certainly true if Fitzpatrick is the QB--he's a damn slinger who can win in any single game. The other QB who has a chance against us is Geno Smith, who is less dangerous than Ryan but dangerous nevertheless. The other two we will beat. But I have no idea as to which of their 4 QBs we get--but sense Fitzpatrick.

...But we could realistically end up 11-5 with the way our D has played.

Whatever record the team ends up with, it will be with the way the D has played. The O as well.

You don't think we get home field?

If I had to make a conservative guess, 12-4 and yeah if I had to predict right now I say we get HFA through out, right up until Houston. If we are fortunate enough to make it that far. The AFC West is gonna beat up on each other so I find it hard to believe that Denver or Oakland or KC will end up with a better conference record than us.

When was the last time we won @Denver? The Denver game is always tough, no matter who the QB is. I actually think Siemien is better than Brock and we lost to Brock last year.

Depends on how bad Gronk is hurt and whether this defense can be fixed.

I'm feeling 11-5 and 2nd seed right now.

14-2, defense wakes up, we will run the table

I said 12-4 before the season and I am going to stick with that. @Miami and @Denver are the ones I see as the biggest loss probability with Baltimore close behind.

Yes, the Patriots are better than every team left on the schedule, better by enough to account for HFA in away games.
But the better team doesn't play better every game, so they could lose any of the 7.
I see this stretch as preparing to peak for the playoffs.
SF and the Jets are weak sisters on the road.
Rams should not be competitive but they do offer some areas of challenge.
Baltimore is not a very strong team, but there is history, so a sound drubbing would be a good ramp up to the run to the post season.
Then @Denver could be a huge confidence builder.
After that BB better not take the foot off the gas in the final 2 weeks. In week 17, the only way starters should sit is if they blow the game open and the subs come in because its out of hand.
After a pathetic limp home last year (the real reason for the AFCCG loss) the goal this year should be to peak. An upset over the next few weeks would be no hindrance at all if that happens.

I agree that no game in the NFL is a gimme but if I approach each from a reasonable standpoint and don't assume that we screw ourselves then we should be the favorite in each of the remaining games. That's all I am saying.

I agree that we have a pretty great schedule in terms of rebuilding of the team. We got 3 garbage teams in a row where the coaching staff can finish up their experiments and hopefully come up with the final configuration of the defense and then built on that and introduce more complex scheme plays just in time for Ravens and Broncos.

Then we get 2 more course correction games with the lessons learned from the Baltimore and Denver game before the playoffs start.

You literally couldn't ask for a better schedule.

lol

I have them at 12-4 with losses to the Broncos and Jets, 11-5 wouldn't surprise me we could split one with the Rats.

Like 2014, when Gronk, Edelman didn't play...Brady didn't play much...lost to the Bills. Don't remember how that season worked out...
I didn't say it's a 100% factor but if you recall we went down 14 twice in the first game of the playoffs.
