because its a dumb thread

Three reasons to make this deal:

Back Surgery #1
Back Surgery #2
Back Surgery #3

Maybe if NE could get Fournette and a franchise CB. Then you use the cost savings to franchise MB for a year.

I probably would, purely because back injuries are scary and because there's enough people salivating over Myles Garrett that Belichick could probably turn the #1 overall into a pair of first rounders, maybe three if he finds a really dumb or desperate team and trades down a couple times. Maybe taking OJ Howard with one of those picks would dull the pain of losing Gronk a bit.

I wouldn't feel good about it, though, because Gronk is probably a once-in-a-lifetime tight end that we'll be telling our grandkids about.

Gronk needs to stay until his contract is up, if he stays healthy then resign him, but if he gets another season ending injury then that's where it gets iffy, but I'd like to keep him.

JG on the other hand, I like the kid, he knows the system well and is a very good backup, however this offseason is our only chance to get high value for him because next offseason we won't get anything for him and he will be free to seek out the highest bidder himself.

I'll take a first plus a 2nd round pick for JG, right now all arrows are pointing towards Cleveland because they just got rid of McCown and I highly doubt RG3 gonna be a starter there with all those injuries he had in his short term career. The Browns will become a good team if they get few more pieces on their offensive side of the all, JG alone is not gonna turn around that franchise but he will be a key role player to help moving them to the right direction.

As much as I love Gronk I'd do that trade. We could then trade those picks for more. Lots of return value and possibilities. However, I don't know if this is considered a good draft or not.

Great..Tim Couch and Vernot Gholston( a STEAL, since he went #6 in the 1st round) at 1 & 12, for JAG and Gronk. Just asking, what's your "I'm RIGHT ABOUT THIS!" thread then?

yes i do it.I don't think he's going to have a very long career. i remove emotion from the decision and pull the trigger.

No goddamn way. Garrapolo is fine but you don't get rid of Gronk on a team friendly contract. That's just creating a weakness at a position of strength.

No. Not even close..

seems like more than half are saying yes to the deal. I think Belichick would do it in a second

Why would he ?

At this point if you listen to Lombardi it's not even clear if he will trade Jimmy away unless its a big offer.

So why would he trade away Gronk at his lowest value when he is on a pretty team friendly contract this year ? If he can get a first rounder (per your hypothetical) this year then an average season by Gronk will only increase his value next offseason. There is no deadline or timing running out on this..

you do it now to get TWO first round picks from Cleveland. Gronk may actually be at his highest value, and he can be tied to JAG in the trade for those two high picks. Belichick would do it.

In all honesty probably yes. If I could have a guarantee Gronk would be healthy for the next 5 years I would choose Gronk but that's highly unlikely considering his history. The reason I say this is because I can only imagine what Belichick would do with that first overall pick. He would probably flip it for 4 late first rounders or 3 mid first rounders.

We only trade Jimmy if there is someone offering one first rounder (and most probably more) anyway. So it's really one first round pick for Gronk.

How in the world would his value be the highest after a season full with injuries where one of them is pretty serious ? What you are saying makes no sense. If he can get a first round pick for him after this year, BB would just sit on Gronk while enjoying him on the cheap, rebuild his value with a good season and trade him for even more a year later. Again, it makes no sense at all.

And don't give me any of this another injury could end his career nonsense because then your entire premise is stupid since Brady is also one serious injury away from his career ending and then maybe we should also hold on to Jimmy.

The reason it is at it's highest i (not counting the past) is because we would be trading him entirely based on what he might still be possible to do. In addition to that there is a decent chance he may not be himself again. (This is not debatable)

So, if the combination of JAG and a flier on Gronk, could get you the 1 and the 12 from Cleveland it is an excellent trade for the Pats, and really a risk for the Browns.

Will the Browns actually offer their number 1 pick?? lol

We could get Myles Garrett!!
