Actually we got stopped last year with a healthy Gronk
Last year we had one of the most injured teams we've ever had... #2 in the league I believe... this team was absolutely decimated with injuries, and they nearly pulled out a comeback similar to this most recent Super Bowl... with Gronk making play after play to keep them in that game, including the 4th & 15.. the 4th & goal.. and was the target on the 2 point conversion as well (Ghost needs to stop missing XPs in Championship games!!!!)
Gronk nearly carried last year's team to the Super Bowl against an absolutely dominant defense.. this entire offense operates at a much higher level when Gronk is in the lineup and he's on a very team friendly deal in 2017.. so this discussion is pretty silly to be having right now IMO
>>How in the world would his value be the highest after a season full with injuries where one of them is pretty serious ? What you are saying makes no sense
The reason it is at it's highest i (not counting the past) is because we would be trading him entirely based on what he might still be possible to do.
Myles Garret.Historically players are not at a high value after a major injury, in fact Gronk's value is most probably the lowest it has ever been right now. At this point like you admitted just a sentence later it is absolutely unclear for anyone outside NE (and his agent) what he is able to do or how much in danger he is in to get another back injury.
That's not how the trade market works. If you want a good return you have to trade him when he comes off an impressive season. But of course that's when people here do a 180 and post threads about how he is underpaid.
And finally -- to quote Lombardi -- if you trade someone for a pick you have to have a player in mind. Who is it in the draft that you would trade Gronk for.
No, Gronk is an all-time great TE and Bennett likely walks this year. Even if he stays, Gronk is such a critical part of the offense that a first-round pick doesn't quite do it for me. I think instead, the Patriots need to tone down how much they run Gronk into the ground and turn it up later in the season. Yea, it sounds like an entitled thing to say but the Pats are making the playoffs with or without Gronk. How far they go could rely heavily on his status (regardless of this year's results)
So, you would consider "resting" Brady for part of the year too?I completely agree with this. If we're deep at a position, why not the rest the stars a little and preserve them for when we need them? This would never happen, of course, but we see how well Brady responded after four weeks off. Honestly, I don't know how these guys get through 16 games, plus the postseason, taking all that punishment.
