PATS TRADE JAMIE COLLINS!!!

They win the 2006 SB if Branch is on the team. They got a 1st for him and used it on Merriweather.

Do they? They scored 34 points against Indianapolis, 27 of those on offense. Even if Branch is on the team, Brady still throws the pass to Riche Caldwell and Caldwell still drops it. Branch wouldn't have stopped 35 Colt points over the last 35 minutes of the game.

For as upsetting and disappointing as that 2nd half collapse in Indy was, the Patriots were completely dead to rights the week before in San Diego before the Troy Brown heroics. This is a game where Branch would have made a difference....but they won anyway, so it's a moot point.

Branch was holding out and filed grievances against the team.

That offense that year struggled with those receivers off the street.

Yes, I think they win the Super Bowl with Branch.

I'm not sure Brady goes to Caldwell at that juncture....he'd go to Branch.

With that said I agree, while maybe Branch makes that catch, he doesn't stop Indy shredding the Pats in the 2nd 1/2.

In that game, a healthy Rodney wins it.

Yep. Although Reche had that beauty of a catch on the sideline in the closing minutes.

I guess what I'm saying is that if you look at the way the season played out, it still got them to the AFCCG where the *defense* failed them, not the offense. That said, I guess an argument could be made that with Branch, they win all 3 regular season home games that they lost and finish 15-1. That changes everything about the playoff matchups though, and they may have wound up playing Baltimore's stingy defense if the Pats could defeat Indianapolis at home, and if the Ravens upset San Diego in the divisional round. Who knows, it is what it is I guess.

That was a great catch, but I don't know how he didn't manage to regain his balance. Caldwell had more than enough room to stay inbounds and score the TD. Well, everything worked out in the end when San Diego's kicker missed that 50+ yarder.

I agree. Body control and awareness are what separate the goods from the greats.

They milked every last drop out of Caldwell that year. That was his ceiling.

Which is why once Moss, WW and Stallworth showed up and Gaffney became WR4, he was gonzo.

I think they win the AFCCG at Indy with him. I know the defense failed, but the offense stalled in the second half. That game really shows how great Brady has always been. Jabar Gaffney and Reche Caldwell as your wideouts? Really?

What I will say is that the first big play - the one that jumpstarted that drive for Seattle - was a big pass down the sideline to Lynch, who was wide open because Collins gambled and bit really hard on the sluggo. Given how the Pats traditionally handle 2 minute drills in situations like this, I'd bet that they were preaching "keep the play in front of you, don't gamble and surrender yardage in 30 yard chunks", and Collins did pretty much the opposite of that. For anyone who wishes to view it again, you can watch the play here at 1:57:02 (linking at given time isn't working since it's trying to embed the player instead):

Every time I watch this replay, I always wonder what Collins was biting at there. The backfield was empty. About the only thing he could have bit on was Wilson faking a run. But with Collins being lined up on Lynch on the far side of the field with two other players between him and the end of the line of scrimmage, a Wilson run was not his primary responsibility. Covering Lynch was.

Very questionable play indeed yikes!

Ugh...I don't like hearing quotes like this. Pats nation will turn on him very quickly

We've been over this. Patriots discussed $11M per year in a verbal conversation, never put it to paper for an official offer.

I hate dodges like this, whether they come from players, teams or the media.

I'm very confused about this whole deal. Unless he's flat out lying:

- He was well liked in the locker room.
- His freelancing seemingly wasn't an issue.
- They never even formally offered him a new deal.
- And he never asked for Von Miller money.

So........we traded him, why?

Something went on the behind close doors that only BB - JC and the Patriot Coaches know. We all know BB is not one for distractions.

The Rush to get JC out of town kinda puzzling you slightly weaken a very strong Team.

As I said before we're trading that 3rd and a year long membership to the jelly of the month club for Luke Kuechly. The trade is still being processed to make sure the Pats didn't give too much up with that membership.
