PATS TRADE JAMIE COLLINS!!!

I'm very confused about this whole deal. Unless he's flat out lying:

- He was well liked in the locker room.
- His freelancing seemingly wasn't an issue.
- They never even formally offered him a new deal.
- And he never asked for Von Miller money.

So........we traded him, why?
The answer is simple, the coaching staff is handling his exit with class and isn't in any way talking bad about him now that he's out. At best you'll get some between-the-lines stuff. Like this:

...and while true Jamie said he didn't ask for VM money, that does not mean Bus Cook didn't. Hes been around the block and knows how to work the system.

JC is probably on NFL Network down the road speaking highly of BB and in regret he didn't listen to him.

Anyone taking quotes like this as the full truth is a fool lol. Nobody says exactly what happened. It would be dumb to admit he wanted Von Miller money (if it happened).

should of let him walk after the season

bizarre

He also said there is more of a family feel with browns than Pats.

IMO that's a slap in the face to pats org and former teammates.

Yeah kinda splitting hairs here...
It's semantics in the end. What we can assume to be true (Bus Cook said it himself) is that there were no "serious" negotiations between Collins and the Patriots. Now, were the Patriots interested in extending him? I think so, otherwise they'd have just traded him in the offseason if they never had an interest in keeping him. So what conclusion does that lead to? The difference between the Patriots' valuation of Collins and Cook/Collins' valuation of himself was just so big that there was no point in continuing the negotiations once they held their preliminary talks.

I disagree. We hear about the Patriots being more of a "professional" organization, all the time, and it's usually considered a good thing.

But not to Patriot fans

I'm like Belichick in some ways. I don't care what anyone thinks or how they "feel" about JC being traded

If someone's pissed off....oh well, deal with it

Yup...leave your ego at the door.

Ugh...I don't like hearing quotes like this. Pats nation will turn on him very quickly

And understandably so.

I said it last night, I'll say it again. I always got a strong sense that Collins was/is looking out for himself first and foremost. That's fine in a general sense, so long as he's willing to put the Patriots above himself during practices, in meeting rooms, and on Sundays. He evidently wasn't able to continue doing that.

A communal/shared sense of indentity (similar to the Patriots' culture) was never going to work with his personality.

Well this seems to be ending badly (Collins' time in NE, not the thread). Seems like there's some deep seeded resentment on both sides, not surprised now that it was time to move on.

I'm sure he'll enjoy sitting down with the rest of the team to a nice family dinner in January, with the NFL playoffs on in the living room.

So keep a guy around that has no interest in being there, is getting into arguments with coaches, and has decided to go off-script and compromise the defense (see: Buffalo's 28 yard run on the 1st drive)?

That might be ok in Miami, Buffalo or New York but that **** don't fly with the guy that has won 6 SB.

People in the last 2 days have brought up Belichick making the comparison to LT when talking about Collins Ya well LT bought into Parcells and Belichick. Collins clearly hadn't this year or he never would have been dealt. Absolutely asinine to think Belichick traded this level of player because he wanted a pick sooner. Belichick traded him because he had another Adalius Thomas situation on his hands. We all know how that season turned out right? Go watch Bill's Football Life and go to the scene where him and Brady are standing on the sidelines in New Orleans. “I just can’t get these guys to play the way I want them to" My guess is that is where Belichick was at with Collins when he decided to trade him.

I'm so sick of our most athletic skilled defenders leaving us to go elsewhere.

LOL because you can always tell when a team has a "family atmosphere" after being on the said team for a full whole day.

Seems like sour grapes to me.
