I hate the trade and hate that Lombardi is mouthing off - and hate more that the media is taking it like he's speaking for the Patriots.
Collins said nothing wrong in that interview. I'm still rooting for the guy (except against the Pats). He's an exceptional talent and will thrive somewhere, though maybe never here. Same as with Chandler Jones - Arizona is letting him run a bit looser. BB won't do that.
As for the trade, it doesn't help the Pats win THIS year. Unless he was a cancer in the locker room, they could have and should have found places on the field where a talent like that could actually help.
That said, this is good for Collins. Giving him full playing time and letting him run loose will show a lot of ooohs and aaahs and thus, a lot of $$$. So maybe BB did the guy a favor - keeping him here on reduced playing time would have certainly hurt his payday.
And I hope he gets that big payday. Wish him nothing but the best.
