If we signed Winston I’d immediately start an over/under pool on which would total more, TDS or TOs. And I’d take TOs on the over. Given his fumbles plus his INTs that seems a no-brainer.

In other words, a really really bad choice.

no, Stidham beat out Hoyer for the developmental long term QB of the future. Not for the backup slot.

Really??? What happened to our win total odds when Hoyer was signed? Do you honestly believe there is a win total difference between a rookie/Hoyer/Stidham combo and a rookie/rookie/Stidham combo. So many teams take your approach and live in qb purgatory forever. Get young QB...Find untalented journeyman to "mentor"...Young QB flames out and isn't the answer...You spent that entire time wasting 2 spots on your roster...Start from square one again.

3 (or 4) spots on every roster for qbs. Every additional unknown increases your chances of finding one. Going with players like Hoyer decreases your chances of finding one.

Fine...give him a coaching title and free up a spot for another potential candidate.

The Patriots aren't winning a single additional game because Brian freaking Hoyer is on the roster.

I'll never understand how betting works. You can have an over/under pool for 2 stats at the same time compared to each other?

OK, we have pats fans examples of a lesser NFL quarterbacks: Peyton Manning, 2001 Brady, Flacco, Eli Manning. We are truly spoiled.

2002-2006 Brady was very similar to 2001 Brady

Common sense would tell you the Patriots do not win a single additional game because Brian Hoyer is on the team. Common sense would also tell you that when you go with 2 potential options at QB you have a lesser chance of finding one than if you go with 3.

    Huh?
Curious who you believe was the Pats backup last year.
I guess being the only other QB on the 46 man game day roster does not qualify as “back up”

We are now comparing Brian Hoyer to Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Joe Flacco and Eli Manning? You know you're reaching because there is no case for Hoyer being on this roster.

I ask you the following question, Will the New England Patriots win a single additional game because Brian Hoyer is on the roster?

Obviously you can't give a definitive answer because it hasn't happened yet. However, one could use "common sense" to determine it's probably not going to happen.

You are losing this because there is no case for Brian Hoyer occupying a spot. You're fighting a losing battle.

So you are stating that Hoyer, at age 33 in 2019, was a candidate to be "the developmental long term QB of the future."
