My thought is that they probably knew days ago that Hoyer would be released so this move has been planned for a bit. This signals to me that Stidham is the plan for 2020 with Hoyer there for guidance and to keep the ship afloat if needed. Still, taking a shot at a developmental QB makes sense if they have the roster room.So still drafting a QB?
I’d prefer Kessler as the backup at this point.I was hoping this would not happen.
Im guessing scheme change cost him production.Copeland any good?
Had 5 sacks in 2018. Might be good depth.

Said the same in the general FA thread - like the move. He's not "exciting" necessarily but he's an established vet and he can be a decent 3rd LB behind Hightower and Bentley IMO. Curious if they gave him a multi-year deal.Copeland any good?

He's especially in a season that will be impacted to some extent (possibly significantly) by the current COVID19 situation. Very smart move by the team if they are intending to go with Stidham - Hoyer will be an invaluable resource for the kid.Love it.
Hoyer is the ideal backup QB in this situation. He has full understanding of the offense, is invaluable for the scout team during the season and -- above all -- is the perfect mentor for Stidham.
So still drafting a QB?
