I thought BB left the building stop this garbage bargain basement shopping. It can work sometimes when you have a good QB but others times you get what you pay for.

If they like Maye and Daniels there's no uncertainty.

Right, but I was responding to the idea that who they sign in free agency will be a clue as to who they're going to draft (based on style of the FA QB). But since they can't know which of those two will be at 3, they can't really base their signings on it.

Still don't understand how Brisket is tied for best all time for Pass Interception % with ARodg (or that Tyrod Taylor is tied for 3rd). He's never had a season where it was over 2%. That's astounding. He has simply taken care of the ball (non fumble division) in his 8 year career.

Why are you worried about Krafts money? The cap is BS anyhow
The cap is indeed BS to all those who have little understanding of the cap.

Venecol is complaining about me wanting Kraft and Mayo to fail.

Then they go and get the band back together.

Just think if he actually scored more points.

While indeed the cap is crap, there are consequences to how a team uses the cap. For example, the Broncos can't trade Wilson this off season without taking the full $85MM cap hit in this year, which is why they can only release him (post June 1) to ease the cap hit this year.

Yeah it's not quite like Tebow (2.5% INT%) where he was so good at avoiding INTs because sometimes the throw would be nowhere near living human beings on the field of play.

The CAP certainly isn't "crap," but the consequences aren't predictable. Look at the HUGE contracts...that are now incredibly reasonable. Will that keep up?

How did Tampa go so deep into hock with the Brady build-up, and are now, again, keeping Evans and Winfield and maybe Mayfield, as well. Teams are betting more and more on events like this year's drastic increase.

You don’t understand the definition of the term transition or “bridge QB,” it’s a veteran presence for a rookie QB to emulate and go to for advice.

One of the rookie’s could be far superior to Kirk Cousins… who is the prize QB on the free agent market. Cousins is merely “good” but you want to pay him like a superstar because you’re desperate…. that’s what dumb teams do.

Draft a QB, and hire a professional QB to mentor him. This isn’t hard…
So we can’t try and be competitive while that happens? Interesting

Yeah it's a complex thing. The goal in professional sports is to win. But when and at what cost? What ultimate goal are you shooting for? I believe the Patriots have a better chance to win playoff games in 2025 and beyond by drafting a QB at 3 (or the top 6 picks) while also letting a seasoned vet start in 2024 while bestowing to our young QB with vast amounts of knowledge....vast...large qualities if you will. Baker Mayfield is not that kind of QB.

More of a volume lacking thing.

These are his TD:INT ratios in seasons he actually threw a TD pass

2017: 13TD and 7INT
2019: 18TD and 6INT
2021: 5TD and 4INT
2022: 12TD and 6INT
2023: 3TD and 0INT

He also only has one season above 3000 passing yards and it's 3098.

This just shows that he doesn't make mistakes but you don't get production out of him as a tradeoff.

If we need a Vet backup as a bridge, he's about as good of an option as there is available.
I don't know what I think about the idea of him actually starting for a whole season...
But he would certainly raise the bar from the mental/leadership disaster of Jones/Zappe
But only makes sense as a bridge if we get Maye/McCarthy.
Because Brissett is a prototype 90's/00's QB - and wouldn't fit a system built for a modern mobile QB.
He's actually kinda like Cam (c. 2017-18)

So we can’t try and be competitive while that happens? Interesting
Jacoby Brissett or Joe Flacco allows you to be competitive while fielding a much better team. Baker Mayfield will cost three times as much and give you similar production with a lesser team because he cost so much. There's also the possibility that Jayden Daniels or McCarthy look so great in preseason, that the Patriot coaches decide to start them instead and they far exceed Baker Mayfield as a player.

The myth of magical QB's is simply that... a myth.

That's not saying you can win with a bad QB, you clearly can't... but the difference between Brissett and Mayfield is tiny in relation to the difference between a great team and a poor one.

Correct answer

Given that it’s Volin, I assume the Pats actually have no real interest.

Hammer, my man, one of my favorite posters.
But I gotta correct your poll.
The choices you gave are about the most wellknown styles of barbecue, not brisket.
To wit, NC barbecue is pulled pork. There is Eastern NC barbecue and Western NC barbecue and tge difference is what they put on it.
Texas barbecue is ?always beef, usully brisket.
KC and Memphis are usually ribs.
Ive lived in the South for a long time,I know these things.
They are all great, but different.
As for brisket, no matter where you go, pretty much everybody prepares brisket the same. It's delicious.
But it means Texas- style barbecue is mot unique, everybody does it. Of course they like to pretend theirs is unique, but most of us know Texans are just full of ****. They're the Southern versions of New Yorkers.
Yes, their barbecue is delicious but not unique, everybody does it.
NC, Memphis and KC, however, are unique.
Sorry man, had to set the culinary record straight. My mouh is watering.

Meh….almost anyone is better than Mac coming back at this point and to help bridge the gap between this year and when our new rook will be ready to take the reins is fine. Not a fan of Tannehill at all but Brissett or Mayfield as a band aid for now is fine
