Do we have any interest in Darius Slay for CB depth?

I was worried about C Davis but he has played quite well recently: the needle is pointing up. We Might have Three Shut Down CB's.
C. Davis reminds me of when gilly first came here.. remember? He didn't have the best first half of the season but he came on strong and ended of becoming DPLOY soon after.. not saying Davis is on that level.. but i believe he's making more plays on the ball and will be a huge factor down the stretch and post season.

Agreed. I think dial could be an underrated piece moving forward as a potential cb4 and one of the last salvageable non Maye picks from 2024. He looked good in the junk buffalo win last year and i believe had a good camp until the injury
Yes. It was a bummer when he got hurt as he and DJ James both were having great camps.. whatever happened to DJ james.. is he on an NFL roster?

Something we saw against the giants I feel like we'll see more of going forward.. the physicality.. week 13 in the NFL and for guys to be playing physical ignites teammates.. I think we see more of this going forward especially as we make a post season berth..

It may be true Slay is cooked what is also true is the Steelers' scheme has been facing serious criticism all year and their D is not good. After all, Slay was good- not great at Philly last year so not sure he's completely cooked. Worth a meeting/tryout IMO.

Considering we don't have much proven talent beyond out top 5 in the secondary and maybe a veteran presence who has some gas in the tank and playoff experience could be helpful.
He'll be 35 in 30 days.

3 PD's in 10 games. No INTs. Passer rating of 126.7 this season, the highest among corners with 300+ coverage snaps in 2025.

Yep. Also 10 months ago he had 5 PDs and an INT in 4 games with a Super Bowl Champion during the playoffs.

He very well may be done but the Steelers D is a **** show on all levels.

Sometimes the cliff is right there. Why did the Eagles let him go? (I don't know just wondering if they had an inkling). He had some really good years with them.

35 is really, really old in this league for a non-QB.

I'm not debating his play has fallen off. No question it has. Eagles let him go because a) hes old and no longer and all-pro and b) he was due a ton of money and wasn't worth it.

My point is just because his stats suck as a starter on a ****ty defense, it doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't have value and can't be productive in a lesser role.

Okay, pray we think maybe the best way to allay fray fears and say, Slay, we are getting better every gray day and we'll play on today and tomorrow, but nay, turn away and not pay Slay.

So for all that Slay didn't last long enough on the wire get to the Pats. Makes me feel more cleverer for going with RLKAG. Truthfully for the chump change involved (350K) I'd be surprised if the Pats didn't put in a claim just for depth

I can't imagine a single position on this team right now where a cut player is going to be more worthy of playing time than the top two guys currently filling that role.

Nobody is thinking of Slay - or of any other vet free agent at any other position - as a replacement for our current 3 starters.

But our "depth" at CB behind them is Non - ****ing - Existent.

And it's not like those who are behind them are some high-end prospects who lack only experience before they sooner or later become starters themselves. Quite the Opposite, in fact.

This front orifice is playing a dangerous game there... Same as the one they've been playing at RB after Gibson was lost; though at least they've finally signed to the PS a vet of some small modicum of pedigree...

He was waived shortly after making the 53. He is not currently on any roster.

Hey at least they & the Squealers are trying to build depth at the position.
No, no. Slay might start for them. The Bills have zero depth at the position. All 3 of our starting corners are better than anything they put on the field. Marcus Jones would be their #1 corner. Slay likely asked for his release.

Slay's agent Rosenhaus said it was a negotiated 'mutual' parting and there was 'speculation' he was headed for a reunion with Philly but Pittsburgh was ahead of them on the waiver claims list.
