Pats have engaged in TRADE TALKS for Isaiah Wynn

Wynn left practice again today. Please trade him Bill.
No way anyone would want to trade him ..we might need to eat 5 million cap space to trade him or provide a 3rd rounder to trade him at his contract now.

He is gonna be stuck with us unless we have a contender team lose their starting tackle and their backups are super mediocre ...

Trade might happen during season and not now...

Amazing how posters are defending a guy who's found his way to IR 3 out of the 4 years he's been in the NFL and then missed the most important game of the Pats season in 2021. Take the pick and his horrible salary off the books which is guaranteed while his availability/level of play certainly is not.

Ive been saying Wynn is a Bum for years.

A thought just occurred about Wynn, not sure if it's been brought up before.

Given that he is undersized as an OT, I wonder if that has been a factor in his injury woes.

In order to block rushers trying to gain an outside technique, it might be forcing him to strain his body outside of a natural position causing undue stress on his joints and muscles.

Playing on the inside of the line would eliminate that problem since he would be able to block more straight ahead instead of laterally on the outside.
He is 6' - 2"

Without searching, he must be the shortest LT in the NFL. I met Willie Roaf and he is a mountain. At that time he had not given up a sack in that season.

He’s an eighth of an inch shorter than Kelvin Beachum, who was a 7-year starter at LT before switching over to RT the last two seasons with the Cardinals.

Yeah and Beachum was considered a small prospect, but still bigger than Wynn

2.) The other problem this year is cole “the” strange “pick” lacks nfl functional strength and anything resembling technique. The technique is coachable. He needs more reps. But the lack of strength takes a while to fix.
Huh? Strange did 31 225 lb reps at the combine, tied for 2nd overall at the combine amongst all players. He also has a RAS of 8.97 in strength. What made you conclude that Strange isn't strong? He's light for a guard, so maybe that's what's confusing you because he can be bull rushed more easily because he's relatively light. But he is very strong and can easily put on weight at some expense to his elite agility.

If what I understand is correct, the 'Boys currently have between $18-$21m in cap space.

That means if they wanted to take on Wynn, financially they could.

RW, if the Cowboys are interested in Wynn and we're open to a trade offer, what do you think he could bring back in a trade?
If the Cowboys offered a 5th in next year's draft, would you do that?

That's the part that confuses me. Clearly at least one coach agrees with you and that's why Onwenu doesn't play Tackle anymore. It's just that every educated observer and evaluator has Onwenu as having been very good at RT whenever they've put him there. Plus he's young, affordable, and has all the measurables.
Onwenu has practiced at RT a few times already this TC. Where do you get that "Onwenu doesn't play Tackle anymore"?

The Cowboys just lost Tyron Smith for 6-8 weeks or more. I could see them offering a 3rd round pick if Wynn agreed to an extension.

How much of that was a function of onwenu being at guard to start last season?

Last year when they pulled onwenu out and put karras in, the running game improved exponentially, but was stuck because karras has a low floor.

The problem this year is both guards;

1.) Onwenu needs to move to right tackle. He is not a guard. But we need a competent guard to plug in at right guard his place. Auditions earlier in camp do not appear to have gone well.

2.) The other problem this year is cole “the” strange “pick” lacks nfl functional strength and anything resembling technique. The technique is coachable. He needs more reps. But the lack of strength takes a while to fix.

It's always a pleasure when you come in and, quite literally, make s**t up about players.

1) Onwenu is a competent RG. He can also play RT. Claiming that he's not a competent guard is quite laughable on your part.

2) Your claims about Strange are a joke. Strange doesn't lack NFL Functional Strength nor Technique. I'm guessing you haven't actually watched the pre-season games, focusing on him in particular. In game 2, he had ONE bad play. Other than that, he's been excellent.

From his move to G after a successful rookie season as T. I should have said he doesn't play Tackle primarily anymore.

Cowboys have plenty of cap space ($21 million) to take on Wynn's contract...

Dallas might be desperate.

Josh Ball has been their Cajuste. Hurt all of last year and hasn't been great in preseason. Hes their backup swing tackle.

I'd start with asking for a 3rd and DAL assume responsibility for paying out all $10.4m of Wynn's salary. Jerruh will obviously want to chisel. I'd be OK w/ a 4th or a 5th and DAL takes 75% of Wynn's $.

Getting a 4th/5th and $7m in cap space is a good deal for us.

A 4th or 5th historically has about a 2% chance of being as good a player as the starter you want to trade to weaken the team.

That is based on the operating belief Wynn actually starts ~80% of the games.

Who says they are done trading?
