Pats have engaged in TRADE TALKS for Isaiah Wynn

Yep and hes better off playing full-tilt and excelling on the field even if he misses a bunch of time. At least he has a chance to get a deal which would pay him well if he hits incentives based on playing time and performance.

And if he has a good season and gets a good payday the Patriots get a 3rd rd compensatory pick.

Possible. As I understand it there is a formula which based on the # of signings/departures and $ paid, determines comp picks.

It's possible (if the sign a bunch of players in 2023 and Wynn moves on) they get nothing for him.

They’ll have among the most cap room in the nfl. The odds are good that they’ll sign enough to offset any comp picks.

Yea Strange will be alright. I think he'll need a year to become acclimated to the level of competition and complexity at this level which is a couple above where he came from.
I dunno about that. He was really dominating last week. I guess this week will be a bigger test, but I'm not convinced hes going to need adjustment time.

No. Not if **** "just happens" to the employee consistently. Bad luck, pre-disposed or stupidity. Doesn't matter. That individual cannot be counted on.

You are overthinking this.

Wynn is/was an average starting LT who is good in the run game and mediocre in pass protection.
Wynn is unreliable. History tells us this. Categorize his maladies any way you want.
Wynn has been asked to play a position at the NFL level in 2023 which he has never done. That is risk on top of his pass protection challenges and availability.
Wynn is a FA in 2023. Do they want/need his cap space now or next year? If they get a pick for him now is a better outcome they most likely won't get a comp pick for him next year as they'll be active in FA.

Again, you dump Wynn because of the reasons I have stated IF a reliable, starting-caliber solid replacement can be procured who plays RT or RG and in the same motion/plan we add a pick/player and cap space.
I think you're selling him a little short if we're being real. He's better than "mediocre" in pass pro and one of the better run blockers in the league. At his best he's top 15 -17 out of all the tackles in the league in terms of run blocking and again definitely above average in pass pro. And at the end of the every OL'm wants to be "good enough" it's about surviving.

I know you brought up sacks but those aren't always on the tackle and more often than not are on the QB like we see here. Blocks Clark, who's a freak. For four seconds while Hoyer uses exactly 0 space to manipulate or move his pocket and basically runs away lol.

I don't think Wynn is a "great" tackle like I thought he'd be coming out but he's a lot better than what folks here are making him out to be imo.

I'm not completely against trading if it makes us better. Just have a hard time seeing that especially in the short term. I know Bill has a plan and still believe in him. We're just at a critical stage in development for QB and I'd rather have all my bullets loaded ready to fly. I get addition by subtraction but it's a tough sell two weeks before the season starts with an OL that's already shaken up.

Maybe we tried or something else happened but I really would have preferred shipping Wynn out during the draft but we're here.

Hahaha

The issue is pass blocking. Who gives a crap if your Left Tackle is the best run blocker in a passing NFL? LTs are paid with lucrative contracts because they keep the QB clean. Wynn is not ranked because he svcks.

The when healthy excuse has sailed. Wynn is not reliable but that will never stop the Homer's from defending his lackluster career.

LOL

I hear ya. Because of his physically ability that'll cover for some of his gaps technique and knowledge.

We'll see but overall I agree, the ramp time will not be years but a year or less (hopefully)

There have been times when the jump from Tennessee-Chattanooga to the NFL has looked significant (such as one-on-one drills early in camp), but Strange was noticeably moving bodies in the running game in the second preseason game. -- Mike Reiss

Even if you dont watch line play in games, you couldn't help but not notice Strange throwing people around. Just like you couldn't help but notice Barmore going half speed against the carolina o line

Every report I heard on Strange was that his technique was one of the strongest parts of his game.

To be clear I do not think Wynn sucks. Hes def not solid in pass protection as indicated by the 28 pressures allowed. We'll disagree on that.

Of the 11 called (2 declined) penalties last year 7 were offensive holding. Technique? Conditioning? Focus? Physically outmatched? Either way that's not good.

Maybe RT is a better fit for him. Look at how Marcus Cannon flourished there.

Wynn's issue is availability and dependability. Can't develop continuity on the line with a guy like that.

I'm not saying his technique is bad. I'm saying for a rookie from nowhere university to be an solid NFL starter week 1 is a lot to ask for.

With all rookies i'm tempering my expectations and being patient. Everyone is different.

Yep. Jboston just noted the same thing to me, and I hadn’t thought that part of the equation through. I still wouldn’t give him up for anything less than a 3rd, but if a team was willing to part with that I would consider it.

Strange's technique looks good, athleticism is exceptional, and he seems like a mauler mentally which I love.

I read bull rushes are tough for him because he is only 306 lbs. with no fat. What a world we live in - a guy jacked at 306 lbs. is considered too light.

If there was ever a guy to have high expectations about, this might be the one for you.

Both starting tackles have injury histories that give us pause. Perhaps all the shuffling on the O Line this preseason has been with the intention of building capacity for plug and play if/when one of them goes down.

Yes, and OG who are both stout enough to excel against bull rushes, and athletic and quick enough for other duties, are very rare.
Nearly all OL can gain strength. They can't gain quickness without losing weight or dramatically improving technique. I'd rather invest in the former with a player, as it has a much higher likelihood of success.

We have had numerous rookie OL step in and okay well whether they are 1st round of UDFA big school or small school. Strange is the real thing, it’s pretty obvious. We won’t be sitting here complaining about our LG losing us games.

Brown scares me just as much.

Only reason i'm not as adamant pushing for him to get traded is b/c it'll be much harder to find a LT replacement than a RT one. We're talking Mac's blind side here...

With that said if Brown goes down and we still have Wynn then that is OK.

I dunna know..

Wow! Trent Brown played 16 games twice in his active career so far once was for us guess we can hang our hats on that *shaking*.
